Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is intended primarily to be family history for the next several generations of Minervas. It also contributes to the canon of personal diaries of the Korean War. It presents an aspect of war and army life that families back home would not have considered. Being in the armed service for his country, a young man had to rearrange his daily life in the framework of the circumstances the US Army presented. He was living with other men like himself, in close quarters, moving frequently. There was also in this case a peta puppy dog for company. His room and meals, of various qualities, would be supplied, but he had to arrange for his laundry, housekeeping, and, mainly, recreational activities of some kind for those many hours when his services were not being required by the command that otherwise would be empty and subject to massive stretches of boredom.

Book Dear John I Love Jane

Download or read book Dear John I Love Jane written by Candace Walsh and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2010-10-19 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new buzzword in female sexuality is "sexual fluidity”: the idea that for many women, sexual identity can shift over time, often in the direction of same-sex relationships. Examples abound in popular culture, from actress Cynthia Nixon, who left her male partner of 15 years to be with a woman, to writer and comedienne Carol Leifer, who divorced her husband for the same reason. In a culture increasingly open to accepting this fluidity, Dear John, I Love Jane is a timely, fiercely candid exploration of female sexuality and personal choice. The book is comprised of essays written by a broad spectrum of women, including a number of well-known writers and personalities. Their stories are sometimes funny, sometimes painful, but always achingly honest accounts of leaving a man for a woman, and the consequences of making such a choice. Arousing, inspiring, bawdy, bold, and heartfelt, Dear John, I Love Jane is an engrossing reflection of a new era of female sexuality.

Book Becoming Jane Austen

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jon Spence
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2007-03-05
  • ISBN : 144115342X
  • Pages : 394 pages

Download or read book Becoming Jane Austen written by Jon Spence and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2007-03-05 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jon Spence's fascinating biography of Jane Austen paints an intimate portrait of the much-loved novelist. Spence's meticulous research has, perhaps most notably, uncovered evidence that Austen and the charming young Irishman Tom Lefroy fell in love at the age of twenty and that the relationship inspired Pride and Prejudice, one of the most celebrated works of fiction ever written. Becoming Jane Austen gives the fullest account we have of the romance, which was more serious and more enduring than previously believed. Seeing this love story in the context of Jane Austen's whole life enables us to appreciate the profound effect the relationship had on her art and on subsequent choices that she made in her life. Full of insight and with an attentive eye for detail, Spence explores Jane Austen's emotional attachments and the personal influences that shaped her as a novelist. His elegant narrative provides a point of entry into Jane Austen's world as she herself perceived and experienced it. It is a world familiar to us from her novels, but in Becoming Jane Austen, Austen herself is the heroine.

"Nostradamus: the Healer-the Prophet-the Man" "Cleopatra: the women behind the legend" "Who actually controls humanity?" "If Nikola Tesla was so important, why is he so forgotten?" "What is the purpose of life?" But who has the answers? Without a doubt, author Roman Harambura believes, we hold the answers ... within our imagination, the greatest gift of all. The universe, he explains, is filled with life, and human beings are not alone. Earth, our home, is simply one planet in a sky filled with thousands of universes, each with the potential to harbor life beyond our human ability to understand. If we can simply come to accept and embrace the fact that we are just one small part of the inconceivably vast miracle of life across the stars, our own world would change. Imagination, in Harambura's experience, is our greatest gift. In his The Book of Knowledge: I Am Alien, he shares an eclectic and thought-provoking array of ideas to inspire, engage, and capture your imagination. As expressed by a being known as Kuntarkis, the hundreds of lessons, insights, and experiences within are intended to instigate your own questions and journey of discovery. Kuntarkis also answers questions submitted by people from all over the world. This book is highly recommended for those who are seeking a broader understanding, not just about their own lives, but life in all aspects.
