Of course Clotille was not out 313 all the time, but her evenings were more frequently spent at a theatre, dinner or ball, or perhaps a concert or reception. She was always considerate and affectionate and he knew that he had no real occasion to doubt her love for him and the children, but he could not help feeling that they were neglected.
