Book Out of Chaos

  • Publisher :
  • Release : 1977
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 680 pages

Download or read book Out of Chaos written by Louis Joseph Halle and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on the premise that the realm of being is meaningful to the extent that we are able to view it comprehensively. Our understanding, in its degree, depends on the breadth of our knowledge; for everything, as we shall see, tends to shed light on everything else. But the knowledge we have today, although far exceeding that of our predecessors, does not serve this purpose of illumination insofar as it remains unassembled, partitioned among the minds of the specialists who respectively represent the fields into which it is divided. ... In one of its aspects, this book is an exercise in perspective. As such, it will have much to say of the very small and the very large, of analysis and synthesis.--Preface.

Book Surfing the Edge of Chaos

Download or read book Surfing the Edge of Chaos written by Richard Pascale and published by Currency. This book was released on 2001-03-01 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every few years a book changes the way people think about a field. In psychology there is Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence. In science, James Gleick's Chaos. In economics and finance, Burton Malkiel's A Random Walk Down Wall Street. And in business there is now Surfing the Edge of Chaos by Richard T. Pascale, Mark Millemann, and Linda Gioja. Surfing the Edge of Chaos is a brilliant, powerful, and practical book about the parallels between business and nature -- two fields that feature nonstop battles between the forces of tradition and the forces of transformation. It offers a bold new way of thinking about and responding to the personal and strategic challenges everyone in business faces these days. Pascale, Millemann, and Gioja argue that because every business is a living system (not just as metaphor but in reality), the four cornerstone principles of the life sciences are just as true for organizations as they are for species. These principles are: Equilibrium is death. Innovation usually takes place on the edge of chaos. Self-organization and emergence occur naturally. Organizations can only be disturbed, not directed. Using intriguing, in-depth case studies (Sears Roebuck, Monsanto, Royal Dutch Shell, the U.S. Army, British Petroleum, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems), Surfing the Edge of Chaos shows that in business, as in nature, there are no permanent winners. There are just companies and species that either react to change and evolve, or get left behind and become extinct. Some examples: Parallels between Yellowstone National Park and Sears show why equilibrium is a dangerous place in both nature and business. How Monsanto used a "strange attractor" to move to the edge of chaos to alter its identity and transform its culture. The unlikely story of how the U.S. Army embraced the ideas of self-organization and emergence. Why the misapplication of linear logic (reengineering a business or attempting to eradicate predators in nature) will inevitably fail. The stories in Surfing the Edge of Chaos are of pioneering efforts that show how the principles of living systems produce bottom-line impact and profound transformational change. What's really striking about them, though, is their reality. They are about success and failure, breakthroughs and dead-ends. In short, they are like the business you are in and the challenges you face.

Book On the Trail of the Nephilim 2

Download or read book On the Trail of the Nephilim 2 written by L. Marzulli and published by . This book was released on 2017-01-16 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is full of strange and supernatural events. But there is none stranger than the events of the sixth chapter of the Book of Genesis. Theologians have speculated and debated this bizarre passage of Scripture for thousands of years--and the debate rages on today hotter than ever! Best-selling author, L.A. Marzulli, lies at the root of this new paradigm, challenging the status quo of historical events and suggesting a cover-up of "gigantic" proportions. His first book on the subject, On the Trail of the Nephilim, Volume 1, opened up the minds of people worldwide, stirring up a controversy that challenges the literal interpretation of Scripture and pushes the boundaries to the very edge. Traveling to Paracas, Peru, and other relatively-unknown places in South America, the author began to hunt for proof of a hybrid race of beings the Bible calls the "Nephilim." His search left no stone unturned--public museums, private skull and skeleton collections, secret caves known only to locals, interviews with archaeologists and curators...what Marzulli discovered has turned the world upside down, upsetting a few Darwinian apple carts along the way. Once you have laid eyes on a gigantic Nephilim skull, your worldview may change.

Book Days of Hunger Days of Chaos

Download or read book Days of Hunger Days of Chaos written by Texe Marrs and published by Living Truth Pub. This book was released on 1999-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here are just some of the probing questions this groundbreaking book answers in its investigation into the coming, great food crisis: Does the Illuminati's Rockefeller Foundation now control the seeds of 95 percent of the Earth's major cereal crops-wheat, barley, and corn? (page 69); Is there a "Global Seeds Conspiracy" to place total ownership of the world's seeds-and ultimately the survival of mankind itself-in the hands of an elite cartel of multinational corporations? (page 83); Are pre-planned and contrived food shortages on the way, with small farmers being purposely driven out of business? Will a starving and desperate American populace be left begging for federal government "saviors" to solve the crisis? (page 13); What little known federal law makes it a heinous crime, punishable by imprisonment, for American citizens to hoard food, water, or fuels? (page 190); Will anger and chaos soon grip the world as desperately hungry masses of people panic, riot and storm grocery stores and supermarkets, only to find shelves cleaned out and empty? (page 195)

Book Revisiting the Days of Genesis

Download or read book Revisiting the Days of Genesis written by Bryan C. Hodge and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A commitment to historical-grammatical hermeneutics often has been confused with a commitment to literal language. Time, in our modern conception, has been construed as a measurement of temporal units, and the numbers assigned to them, as merely counting those units. However, a study is needed to explore whether this is the Genesis author's use of time, and whether numerical values utilized suggest something other than tracking simple measurements. This book attempts to offer an answer to this question by analyzing the ancient Near Eastern and literary context of the Book of Genesis in terms of its use of temporal language in determining its value within the narrative. It is the contention of this book that both of these concepts have been misunderstood to such an extent that these misperceptions often obstruct interpreters from understanding the sociological and theological intent of the author to convey a theology of God, man, creation, and chaos that addresses concerns of both the ancient and the modern reader.
