Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Data-Driven Control Systems An introduction to the emerging dominant paradigm in control design Model-based approaches to control systems design have long dominated the control systems design methodologies. However, most models require substantial prior or assumed information regarding the plant’s structure and internal dynamics. The data-driven paradigm in control systems design, which has proliferated rapidly in recent decades, requires only observed input-output data from plants, making it more flexible and broadly applicable. An Introduction to Data-Driven Control Systems provides a foundational overview of data-driven control systems methodologies. It presents key concepts and theories in an accessible way, without the need for the complex mathematics typically associated with technical publications in the field, and raises the important issues involved in applying these approaches. The result is a highly readable introduction to what promises to become the dominant control systems design paradigm. Readers will also find: An overview of philosophical-historical issues accompanying the emergence of data-driven control systems Design analysis of several conventional data-driven control systems design methodologies Algorithms and simulation results, with numerous examples, to facilitate the implementation of methods An Introduction to Data-Driven Control Systems is ideal for students and researchers in control theory or any other research area related to plant design and production.

Book Data driven Control of Multi tank Water Systems

Download or read book Data driven Control of Multi tank Water Systems written by Juan Pablo Martínez Piazuelo and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This work investigates the data-driven control of water-tank systems with nonlinear coupled dynamics. Such dynamics usually harden the analytic design of model-based controllers, and require simplified dynamical models that ignore most of the nonlinear behaviors of the system. As a way to alleviate the design difficulties and avoid modelling simplifications, we design centralized and decentralized reinforcement learning (RL) and data-driven methods to control interconnected water-tank systems relevant for industrial process control. In particular, we study three actor-critic structures and apply them on state-of-the-art RL methods." -- Tomado del Formato de Documento de Grado.

Book Data driven Power System Stability Analysis and Control

Download or read book Data driven Power System Stability Analysis and Control written by Jian Xie and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, with the expansion of power system size, the increase of interconnection and the use of large-scale renewable energy, power system stability and safe operations have become more prominent, causing challenges to the normal operation of power grid. Traditional analysis rely on detailed models of the system. But for real power systems, the operating state of the system is variable, and the model-based analysis methods may not accurately reflect the real operating state of the system. Therefore, this dissertation is focused on data-driven stability analysis and control. First, a method for locating the oscillation source of multi-machine systems is proposed. The electromagnetic torque expressions of various generators in a multi-machine system are deduced, and it is found that in each oscillation mode, the electromagnetic torque can be decomposed into a damping torque and a synchronous torque. Based on this development, an oscillation source positioning scheme based on decoupling mode is proposed. Then, a transfer and CNN-LSTM-based method is developed to accelerate and improve the accuracy of the dynamic frequency prediction process. The proposed method exploits system spatial-temporal information and mines the local features of inputs, which highly improves the performance compared with other machine learning methods. Next, a Distributional Soft Actor-Critic (DSAC) method is developed to solve the emergency frequency control problem. The frequency control is formulated as a MDP problem and solved through a novel distributional deep reinforcement learning method. Further, high penetration renewable energy source increase the system uncertainties and impact the cyber security. We propose a detection method based on Bayesian GAN. It can successfully distinguish between securely operating measurements and those that have been attacked with imbalanced training data. Simulation results of this dissertation show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Book Robust Adaptive Dynamic Programming

Download or read book Robust Adaptive Dynamic Programming written by Yu Jiang and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-04-13 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive look at state-of-the-art ADP theory and real-world applications This book fills a gap in the literature by providing a theoretical framework for integrating techniques from adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) and modern nonlinear control to address data-driven optimal control design challenges arising from both parametric and dynamic uncertainties. Traditional model-based approaches leave much to be desired when addressing the challenges posed by the ever-increasing complexity of real-world engineering systems. An alternative which has received much interest in recent years are biologically-inspired approaches, primarily RADP. Despite their growing popularity worldwide, until now books on ADP have focused nearly exclusively on analysis and design, with scant consideration given to how it can be applied to address robustness issues, a new challenge arising from dynamic uncertainties encountered in common engineering problems. Robust Adaptive Dynamic Programming zeros in on the practical concerns of engineers. The authors develop RADP theory from linear systems to partially-linear, large-scale, and completely nonlinear systems. They provide in-depth coverage of state-of-the-art applications in power systems, supplemented with numerous real-world examples implemented in MATLAB. They also explore fascinating reverse engineering topics, such how ADP theory can be applied to the study of the human brain and cognition. In addition, the book: Covers the latest developments in RADP theory and applications for solving a range of systems’ complexity problems Explores multiple real-world implementations in power systems with illustrative examples backed up by reusable MATLAB code and Simulink block sets Provides an overview of nonlinear control, machine learning, and dynamic control Features discussions of novel applications for RADP theory, including an entire chapter on how it can be used as a computational mechanism of human movement control Robust Adaptive Dynamic Programming is both a valuable working resource and an intriguing exploration of contemporary ADP theory and applications for practicing engineers and advanced students in systems theory, control engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics.

Book Data driven Nonlinear Control Designs for Constrained Systems

Download or read book Data driven Nonlinear Control Designs for Constrained Systems written by Roland Harvey and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systems with nonlinear dynamics are theoretically constrained to the realm of nonlinear analysis and design, while explicit constraints are expressed as equalities or inequalities of state, input, and output vectors of differential equations. Few control designs exist for systems with such explicit constraints, and no generalized solution has been provided. This dissertation presents general techniques to design stabilizing controls for a specific class of nonlinear systems with constraints on input and output, and verifies that such designs are straightforward to implement in selected applications. Additionally, a closed-form technique for an open-loop problem with unsolvable dynamic equations is developed. Typical optimal control methods cannot be readily applied to nonlinear systems without heavy modification. However, by embedding a novel control framework based on barrier functions and feedback linearization, well-established optimal control techniques become applicable when constraints are imposed by the design in real-time. Applications in power systems and aircraft control often have safety, performance, and hardware restrictions that are combinations of input and output constraints, while cryogenic memory applications have design restrictions and unknown analytic solutions. Most applications fall into a broad class of systems known as passivity-short, in which certain properties are utilized to form a structural framework for system interconnection with existing general stabilizing control techniques. Previous theoretical contributions are extended to include constraints, which can be readily applied to the development of scalable system networks in practical systems, even in the presence of unknown dynamics. In cases such as these, model identification techniques are used to obtain estimated system models which are guaranteed to be at least passivity-short. With numerous analytic tools accessible, a data-driven nonlinear control design framework is developed using model identification resulting in passivity-short systems which handles input and output saturations. Simulations are presented that prove to effectively control and stabilize example practical systems.

Book Event Based Control and Signal Processing

Download or read book Event Based Control and Signal Processing written by Marek Miskowicz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Event-based systems are a class of reactive systems deployed in a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines including control, communication, signal processing, and electronic instrumentation. Activities in event-based systems are triggered in response to events usually representing a significant change of the state of controlled or monitored physical variables. Event-based systems adopt a model of calls for resources only if it is necessary, and therefore, they are characterized by efficient utilization of communication bandwidth, computation capability, and energy budget. Currently, the economical use of constrained technical resources is a critical issue in various application domains because many systems become increasingly networked, wireless, and spatially distributed. Event-Based Control and Signal Processing examines the event-based paradigm in control, communication, and signal processing, with a focus on implementation in networked sensor and control systems. Featuring 23 chapters contributed by more than 60 leading researchers from around the world, this book covers: Methods of analysis and design of event-based control and signal processing Event-driven control and optimization of hybrid systems Decentralized event-triggered control Periodic event-triggered control Model-based event-triggered control and event-triggered generalized predictive control Event-based intermittent control in man and machine Event-based PID controllers Event-based state estimation Self-triggered and team-triggered control Event-triggered and time-triggered real-time architectures for embedded systems Event-based continuous-time signal acquisition and DSP Statistical event-based signal processing in distributed detection and estimation Asynchronous spike event coding technique with address event representation Event-based processing of non-stationary signals Event-based digital (FIR and IIR) filters Event-based local bandwidth estimation and signal reconstruction Event-Based Control and Signal Processing is the first extensive study on both event-based control and event-based signal processing, presenting scientific contributions at the cutting edge of modern science and engineering.

Book Event based state feedback control of physically interconnected systems

Download or read book Event based state feedback control of physically interconnected systems written by Christian Stöcker and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2014 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Event-based control is a means to restrict the feedback in control loops to event time instants that are determined by a well-defined triggering mechanism. The aim of this control strategy is to adapt the communication over the feedback link to the system behavior. In this thesis, a state-feedback approach to event-based control is extended to systems that are composed of physically interconnected subsystems. The main concern of this thesis is disturbance rejection in interconnected systems, which is supposed to be best accomplished by a continuous state feedback. This consideration leads to the idea that the event-based state-feedback system should approximate the disturbance rejection behavior of a continuous state-feedback system with adjustable precision. Various methods for the event-based control of physically interconnected systems are investigated. In particular, decentralized, distributed and centralized state feedback is studied, which differ with respect to the effort for the communication between the components of the event-based controller over the communication network. The main results concern the design and analysis of event-based state-feedback control methods for physically interconnected systems. For all approaches the disturbance behavior of a continuous state-feedback system is shown to be approximated with adjustable accuracy by the event-based state-feedback system. The novel event-based control methods are tested and evaluated in experiments on a continuous flow process implemented on a large-scale pilot plant.
