About the Expert In 2003, after what she describes as a rather too close brush with the Grim Reaper, Deneice decided life was meant to be lived as if each day was her last. She sold her house and gave away almost all her belongings, including her successful professional gymnastics coaching business. With her surfboard under her arm and her pack on her back she set out to see what the world could show her. Fifteen years on she is still doing it – without a single regret - and with the majority of those years spent wandering the planet as a solo traveler. In 2010 she began writing and found to her surprise and delight that there were many people who were prepared to pay her for her words. This meant the end of a string of minimum wage jobs around the world which had previously been used to top up the travel funds. Her work as a freelance writer allows her to set up her 'office' wherever she happens to be – from beach huts to the middle of the jungle; sometimes she takes on voluntary work too. She describes herself as a permanent nomad hopelessly addicted to travel and the excitement of constantly learning and exploring, getting lost and found, never knowing what is around the next corner and having amazing encounters with incredible people. For her, everywhere and nowhere is home. Along with the vast collection of memories, stories and adventures her travels have given her she has also discovered, uncovered, realized and gathered a wealth of knowledge. This has made her traveling life significantly easier, far cheaper and helps her to squeeze every last drop of fun from her solo travels. HowExpert publishes quick 'how to' guides on all topics from A to Z by everyday experts.

Book Dare to Do

Download or read book Dare to Do written by Sarah Outen and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SHORTLISTED FOR THE EDWARD STANFORD ADVENTURE TRAVEL BOOK OF THE YEAR On 1 April 2011, rower and adventurer Sarah Outen set off in her kayak from Tower Bridge for France. Her aim was simple: to circle the globe entirely under her own steam - cycling, kayaking and rowing across Europe, Asia, the Pacific, North America, the Atlantic and eventually home. A year later, Sarah was plucked from the Pacific ocean amid tropical storm Mawar, her boat broken, her spirit even more so. But that wasn't the end. Despite ill health and depression, giving up was not an option. So Sarah set off once more to finish what she had started, becoming the first woman to row solo from Japan to Alaska, as well as the first woman to row the mid-Pacific from West to East. She kayaked the treacherous Aleutian chain and cycled North America, before setting out on the Atlantic, despite the risk of another row-ending storm... Dare to Do is more than an adventure story. It is a story of the kindness of strangers and the spirit of travel; a story of the raw power of nature, of finding love in unexpected places, and of discovering your inner strength. It is about trying and failing, and trying again, and about how, even when all seems lost, you can find yourself.

Download or read book Travel Solo written by Barbara Riedel and published by . This book was released on 2017-10-23 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are dreaming of conquering the world. You want to wander along white, sandy beaches. You want to admire the Wonders of the World. You want to swim with dolphins and watch whales. You want to climb mountains to see the most beautiful sunsets from their peaks. You read one travel related book after another and can't wait to explore those places by yourself and see their beauty with you own eyes. But there is one big problem: You have nobody to do it with.I am Barbara and I had this exact problem! I took some short trips in my early twenties, but didn't dare to go on a real backpacking trip on my own. One day - I think I was 22 years old - I realized that it's possible to get a Round the World Ticket for free by paying with air miles. From that day on I had a goal: going on a trip around the world! So, I collected miles for the next five years, by asking my entire family to pay with my credit card instead of using their own. When the day came closer and I knew it was really going to happen, I started asking my friends if they wanted to come with me - even if it was only for part of the trip. It turned out to be really difficult to find people who wanted to go to the same destinations at the same time with the same budget and travel style. Although I had taken my decision long before, it was just half a year before I left that I fully realized that I would be a solo traveler - one of many, but I didn't know that yet!Today, in December 2016, I have been on the road for almost two years and two months, traveling alone and living my life in exactly the way that I want. I became a digital nomad, an online entrepreneur making money from freelancing (translating, copywriting, proofreading), blogging, writing books and having my own brand of clothing (PROUD NOMAD). I wanted to write this book to reach as many people as possible, share my story and encourage you to dare to experience a life that is 100% controlled by you. You can live your dreams and be happy!
