Download or read book DANIEL Touchstone of Prophecy written by Kent Stevens and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2008-07-31 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholars agree Daniel's prophecies detail history up to 164 B.C., then opinions split. But why not continue following the trail of history? What if we could prove his prophecies are already fulfilled? This verse by verse pursuit takes us a little outside popular explanations, and turns up some surprising answers.Discover: how the Little Horn of the dragon has been in plain sight of history all along; why one prophecy is divided into "weeks"; who is the real prince to come, and who is the true Covenant Maker; that the 2300 evenings and mornings are not mere days on a calendar; how the 1290 and 1335 day prophecy bring us to an oft neglected turning point in Jewish history.Determined to let Scripture speak for itself, Kent Stevens attempts to support every verse with well-known details from history. Even if you end in disagreeing with the author's compelling arguments, we hope you will conclude with him that Daniel is truly a unique touchstone that challenges and tests the way we view prophecy.

Download or read book God s Unfailing Purpose written by Michael P. V. Barrett and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is often the question of skeptics, scoffers, and even troubled souls. Trials and tribulations of one sort or another crowd our personal lives, while corruption, conflict, and catastrophe command the world scene. Indeed, where is God in all of this? Asking the question is fair enough. Answering demands caution. God’s Unfailing Purpose: The Message Of Daniel is a cautious and biblical answer to that question. This book focuses on the heavenly throne from which God rules according to His perfect will and unchangeable, unfailing purpose. God is in absolute control of all things: the big issues of the world, as well as the seemingly bigger issues of our lives. Daniel’s view of history and prophecy shows that God’s kingdom is coming and that God’s will is being done on earth as certainly as it is in heaven. Daniel’s message is simply, “Not to worry–everything is under control.”
Download or read book Prophecy Unfulfilled written by Wayne Talbot and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prophecy Unfulfilled represents a continuation of the author’s quest for the truth of God, by firstly uncovering the untruths that he had been taught during his formative years as a Catholic. Earlier works focused on the claimed new (replacement) covenant, the rejection of the Sabbath, and the rejection of Torah. Using the rules of evidence as in a court of law, this study seeks to evaluate the claimed messianic prophecy fulfillment by Jesus, some two thousand years ago. The first part of the book discusses the nature of evidence and how the rules regarding written evidence vary significantly from those of oral evidence, the latter being used most often by biblical scholars and Christian apologists. The first step is to authenticate the extant documents by examining the chain of custody and, thus, establish authority. Next is to authenticate the attributed authorship of the writings, to determine whether the authors were firsthand witnesses of the events they described, or whether their narratives are hearsay, with or without corroboration. Where little verbal agreement is found, this is circumstantial evidence of separate traditions developing the resultant theology. The study proceeds by examining every verse in the NKJV (New King James Version) of the New Testament that is annotated as being in fulfillment of prophecy, comparing the wording against both the NKJV Old Testament and an English translation of the Hebrew scriptures. Where significant variations exist, the author seeks an understanding from New Testament scholars, whom he frequently quotes. The eschatological temper of the early church is given due consideration, especially concerning the expectations of the Jews regarding the mission of the Messiah. Finally, the accomplishments of Jesus, as enshrined in Christian creeds, is compared with what is spoken of by the prophets. The author’s conclusion is encapsulated in the book’s title.

Download or read book Seventy Sevens Are Decreed written by Ron Haydon and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2016-10-28 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few passages in the Old Testament are as enigmatic as Daniel 9:24-27. It makes sense, therefore, that a myriad of interpretations surround these four verses. Expanding on Brevard Childs’s brief work on Daniel, Haydon responds to this question with a canonical approach to Dan 9:24-27: reading a text that is shaped to include future generations of faithful interpreters. The first part lays the groundwork for a canonical approach. Whereas most biblical scholars read Daniel 9 through the lens of historical- and composition-critical tools, Childs and his readers frame the chapter within the larger theological message of the book. The second section is an interpretation of 9:24-27 in its canonical context, doing exegetical and theological work in tandem. Daniel 9:24-27 is, of course, an apocalyptic text leading the reader through the Antiochene crisis and beyond. The theology of the chapter, however, asks us to look back to the Law and the Prophets: Leviticus 25-26 and Jeremiah 25-29 are integral to Daniel 9. Traditions begun in the preceding corpora—rest, sin-debt, and kingdom (Lev 26:34-35; Jer 25:10-12, 29:10-14)—find their culmination in Dan 9:24-27. Haydon’s study brings these texts to bear on the “seventy sevens” in Daniel 9:24. After a careful study of the phrase’s background, we discover that the construction refers to more than a number or even a single event. This time-image points to a larger pattern of rulership wherein leaders rise and fall (vv. 25-26), while the Ancient of Days remains the true King. Ambiguity also plays a part: Daniel 9:24-27 lacks historical detail for a reason—namely, to create an interpretive space that a faith community can occupy. The final form of Dan 9:24-27 is a theological construct allowing multiple generations to live in expectation of God’s rule. A biblical theology of Daniel 9:24-27, moving into the New Testament and contemporary Christian reception, concludes Haydon’s study.
