Book excerpt: As Millennials and Generation Z (b. 1980-2012) begin taking leadership roles in our churches, communities, and organizations, they face unique challenges. A cultural context informed by moral relativism, technology, and globalization requires leadership that remains faithful to biblical practices while creating and implementing new strategies. Like Daniel, who found himself in Nebuchadnezzar's palace, a place foreign to his leaders and mentors in Jerusalem, young leaders today find themselves leading in an environment very different than that experienced by their parents and teachers. Lessons from Daniel's life provide valuable insight for godly leaders of all ages as we navigate the leadership challenges of our day and prepare those who will lead in the future.

He's strong and silent . . . and dead. All over the country, a strange phenomenon is occurring. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. But when they come back to life, they are no longer the same. Feared and misunderstood, they are doing their best to blend into a society that doesn’t want them. And there are no laws that exist to protect the 'living impaired' from the people who want them to disappear—for good. When Phoebe falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids, no one can believe it; not her best friend, Margi, and especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has feelings for Phoebe that run much deeper than just friendship; he would do anything for her. But what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Highlights the Progression of Meshing Technologies and Their Applications Finite Element Mesh Generation provides a concise and comprehensive guide to the application of finite element mesh generation over 2D domains, curved surfaces, and 3D space. Organised according to the geometry and dimension of the problem domains, it develops from the basic meshing algorithms to the most advanced schemes to deal with problems with specific requirements such as boundary conformity, adaptive and anisotropic elements, shape qualities, and mesh optimization. It sets out the fundamentals of popular techniques, including: Delaunay triangulation Advancing-front (ADF) approach Quadtree/Octree techniques Refinement and optimization-based strategies From the geometrical and the topological aspects and their associated operations and inter-relationships, each approach is vividly described and illustrated with examples. Beyond the algorithms, the book also explores the practice of using metric tensor and surface curvatures for generating anisotropic meshes on parametric space. It presents results from research including 3D anisotropic meshing, mesh generation over unbounded domains, meshing by means of intersection, re-meshing by Delaunay-ADF approach, mesh refinement and optimization, generation of hexahedral meshes, and large scale and parallel meshing, along with innovative unpublished meshing methods. The author provides illustrations of major meshing algorithms, pseudo codes, and programming codes in C++ or FORTRAN. Geared toward research centers, universities, and engineering companies, Finite Element Mesh Generation describes mesh generation methods and fundamental techniques, and also serves as a valuable reference for laymen and experts alike.

Book Daniel Evangelical Exegetical Commentary

Download or read book Daniel Evangelical Exegetical Commentary written by J. Paul Tanner and published by EEC. This book was released on 2021-02-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume from the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary, Paul Tanner argues that the book of Daniel is the Old Testament blueprint of the Bible's overarching eschatological narrative. Tanner examines key aspects of the book of Daniel such as the revelation of Israel's future in relation to gentile kingdoms, God's exaltation of Daniel as a channel through whom he reveals his will and God's sovereign control of the nations under whom Israel is being disciplined. Tanner provides exegetical insight to help readers better understand not only how God worked in Israel's history through Daniel, but how he sovereignly directs all of world history--for all time.

Book Hybrid Fictions

Download or read book Hybrid Fictions written by Daniel Grassian and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-09-11 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1960s, academics have theorized that literature is on its way to becoming obsolete or, at the very least, has lost part of its power as an influential medium of social and cultural critique. This work argues against that misconception and maintains that contemporary American literature is not only alive and well but has grown in significant ways that reflect changes in American culture during the last twenty years. In addition, this work argues that beginning in the 1980s, a new, allied generation of American writers, born from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, has emerged, whose hybrid fiction blend distinct elements of previous American literary movements and contain divided social, cultural and ethnic allegiances. The author explores psychological, philosophical, ethnic and technological hybridity. The author also argues for the importance of and need for literature in contemporary America and considers its future possibilities in the realms of the Internet and hypertext. David Foster Wallace, Neal Stephenson, Douglas Coupland, Sherman Alexie, William Vollmann, Michele Serros and Dave Eggers are among the writers whose hybrid fictions are discussed.

Book excerpt: I see dead people...and so does everyone else, because more and more teenagers who have returned from the grave are converging on the small town of Oakvale, Connecticut, inspired by the words the "voice" of Generation Dead, Tommy Williams, writes on his blog MySoCalledUndeath.com. Tommy's people-Mal, Karen, Sylvia, Takayuki, Tayshawn, Colette, Popeye, Melissa and the gang at the Haunted House-aren't zombies that want to eat your brains or feast on your entrails, they just want to do the same things everyone else does-create, make friends, play sports, have fun, fall in love-live. But not everyone in Oakvale-especially Reverend Mathers and his flock at One Life Ministries-is willing to stand idly by and let them do any of those things. Not when so many members of the community would approve of the undead being "reterminated" and sent back to the graves they worked so hard to climb out of... Generation Dead Book 4: My Best Friends Are Dead contains, for the first time in print: The collected My So-Called Undeath blog Generation Dead: Stitches Three brand new Generation Dead stories, and one new bonus story set in the world of Break My Heart 1,000 Times

Book Dispossession

  • Publisher : UNC Press Books
  • Release : 2013-03-29

  • Pages : 351 pages

Download or read book Dispossession written by Pete Daniel and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2013-03-29 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1940 and 1974, the number of African American farmers fell from 681,790 to just 45,594--a drop of 93 percent. In his hard-hitting book, historian Pete Daniel analyzes this decline and chronicles black farmers' fierce struggles to remain on the land in the face of discrimination by bureaucrats in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He exposes the shameful fact that at the very moment civil rights laws promised to end discrimination, hundreds of thousands of black farmers lost their hold on the land as they were denied loans, information, and access to the programs essential to survival in a capital-intensive farm structure. More than a matter of neglect of these farmers and their rights, this "passive nullification" consisted of a blizzard of bureaucratic obfuscation, blatant acts of discrimination and cronyism, violence, and intimidation. Dispossession recovers a lost chapter of the black experience in the American South, presenting a counternarrative to the conventional story of the progress achieved by the civil rights movement.

Book Understanding the Book of Daniel for This Generation Comprensi n El Libro De Daniel Para Esta Generaci n

Download or read book Understanding the Book of Daniel for This Generation Comprensi n El Libro De Daniel Para Esta Generaci n written by Earl B. Schrock and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-12-15 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The entire book of Daniel demonstrates the battle between good and evil from the days of Daniel to the very end of the ages when sin is completely destroyed. It reveals the ongoing battle where the sacred verses the secular and the holy verses the unholy. The author’s goal is to produce an easy to read book explaining the intent of each chapter in the book of Daniel, leading the reader to get a clearer understanding of Bible prophecy. The objective is to help people realize an interpretation of the book of Daniel, for our day, for this generation, is indispensable. There is a soon coming time of trouble and a time of tribulation we should know about, understand, and prepare for. Daniel Bible questions to ponder: How many years were Daniel’s people to be in Babylon? And why? How long is the “seven times” in which King Nebuchadnezzar was punished? How long is “time, times, and half a time”? When do the 70 weeks, 1260, 1290, 1335, and 2300 days begin? What is the Holy Covenant? What is the “continual” of Daniel 12:11? What is the “abomination of desolation”? Can a seven year tribulation period be substantiated in the Bible? What does “the appointed time of the end” timeline look like as designed by the Bible? Book excerpt: "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever" (Daniel 2:44). The message of Daniel is that Jesus the Messiah is now ruling over the nations. Daniel tells us that Messiah's kingdom will advance in the whole world from "generation to generation" (Daniel 4:4,34).
