Inspector Rogas thinks he might know, but as soon as he makes progress he is transferred and encouraged to pin the crimes on the Left. And yet how committed are the cynical, fashionable, comfortable revolutionaries to revolution—or anything? Who is doing what to whom? Equal Danger is set in an imaginary country, one that seems all too real. It is the most extreme—and gripping—depiction of the politics of paranoia by Leonardo Sciascia, master of the metaphysical detective novel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purity and Danger is acknowledged as a modern masterpiece of anthropology. It is widely cited in non-anthropological works and gave rise to a body of application, rebuttal and development within anthropology. In 1995 the book was included among the Times Literary Supplement's hundred most influential non-fiction works since WWII. Incorporating the philosophy of religion and science and a generally holistic approach to classification, Douglas demonstrates the relevance of anthropological enquiries to an audience outside her immediate academic circle. She offers an approach to understanding rules of purity by examining what is considered unclean in various cultures. She sheds light on the symbolism of what is considered clean and dirty in relation to order in secular and religious, modern and primitive life.

Where his judgment sometimes failed him was in his personal life. When he finds himself on a train bound for Austria with insufficient funds after a bad night of gambling, he jumps at the chance to earn a fee to help a refugee smuggle securities across the border. He soon discovers that the documents he holds have a more than monetary value, and that European politics has more twists and turns than the most convoluted newspaper account.

Book MEDICAL STELLAR ASTROLOGY

Download or read book MEDICAL STELLAR ASTROLOGY written by GIACOMO ALBANO and published by WWW.ASTROLOGIAPREVISIONALE.NET. This book was released on 2021-05-14 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to apply the principles of stellar astrology to the field of medical astrology, in order to have a clearer picture, complete and "iconic" (thanks to the descriptive role of celestial images) of astrological factors that can lead to serious diseases. In fact, if we disregard the important role played by constellations, asterisms and stars in this area, it is very hard, nearly impossible, to predict whether certain critical factors of the birth chart will manifest as diseases or otherwise, and especially to predict whether these diseases will be serious. And this is because, as always in astrology, serious events are always signaled by a redundancy of astrological factors at various levels.I refer in particular to the role of celestial images and of the various parts composing them (which in most cases also correspond to various parts of the human body), the role of some stars (not only those of azemena), the importance in these analyses of the heliacal phases of stars and planets and the paran that accompany them, the parallels of declination between planets and between stars and planets, and other considerations that we expose in the following pages. I dedicate a great deal of space to the exposition of important principles of medical elective astrology. I refer both to those we have inherited from the astrological tradition and to the "new" ones that can be deduced on the one hand from the general principles of stellar astrology, and on the other hand from the concrete analysis of the birth charts of people who have had serious health problems (both fatal and healing cases) and of the great doctors who have dedicated their lives to the cure of diseases and the research of vaccines that have saved millions of lives.

Book The Daring Book for Dogs

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joe Garden
  • Publisher : HarperCollins UK
  • Release : 2007
  • ISBN : 9780007267309
  • Pages : 216 pages

Download or read book The Daring Book for Dogs written by Joe Garden and published by HarperCollins UK. This book was released on 2007 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's time to jump out of the handbag and take control of the lead. From the same kennel as The Dangerous Book for Boys, this hilarious doggy equivalent barks one simple question: What's happened to us?! Designer dog beds? Organic gluten free gourmet doggie biscuits? Spa treatments? Everyone likes to be pampered now and then - but isn't there more to being a dog than wearing a mini cashmere sweater and riding around in a Louis Vuitton handbag? What about the simple pleasures of life - feeling the wind in your fur, digging up the grass beneath your paws, smelling another dog's bottom? Isn't that part of the great joy of being a dog? This book is for good dogs, bad dogs, and the millions of people who love them, either way, but owners will no doubt recognize their own lovable pets, and maybe themselves, in these pages. After all, so many people talk to their dogs, they might as well read to them, and learn a little something in the process. Chapters include: Foul Smells Every Dog Should Roll In, What's Edible?, How to Bury a Bone, Building a Bed out of Laundry, Escaping the Lead, Dogs in Literature, Courageous Dogs in History, Formal Rules of Fetch, Enhancing Your Walk and Amazing Bath Time Escapes. The Dangerous Book for Boys tapped into a male desire to recapture a back-to-basics sense of fun. Now, a boy's sense of fun is perfectly fine, but a dog's sense of fun is hilarious. Leg-humping, bottom-sniffing and tail-chasing - these are not just the bedrock of dog life; they are the bedrock of comedy.
