Fate did not cause the fall, but it did pick the place of her survival. It was here in this region of giant cedars and moss-covered valleys that an odd couple would find and raise her to adult-hood. One was an old man that had lost the love of his life and a will to live. The other was a curious Bigfoot named, Gary.

Book I Saw Bigfoot Dancing with a Grizzly Bear

Download or read book I Saw Bigfoot Dancing with a Grizzly Bear written by Brian Wraught and published by . This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a long hard week at work, what could be more relaxing than a nice quiet weekend of camping? Nothing. So the camper thought... While collecting his camping gear and supplies this happy go lucky camper pictured the scene. The lush green wilderness, the sweet smell of country fresh air, the sounds of birds greeting one another. Will that be the only sights and sounds in the woods? The hidden campsite was even better than the eager camper had imagined. A calm peace filled his hearts and soul as he took in all the beauty that surrounded him. What else will his heart and soul be filled with? After camp was set up and the supplies were unpacked, this temporary home was now a haven of rest. "This is the place to be, I wish I would stay here and never leave" said the camper out loud. One should be careful what he wishes for... While gathering some wood for a cozy campfire, something caught the camper's eye. Was this real or were his eyes playing tricks on him? This can't be real, or is it? What did the camper see? Brian Wraught grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Willow Springs Missouri. When he wasn't swimming, fishing, or playing baseball he was listening to music. The sounds of the notes, chords, harmonies and melodies were tattooed in his heart and soul. This love for music led him to play the drums in a garage band in his younger years. One day a band mate suggested that he try writing songs. This idea was completely foreign to him. "Only professionals write songs, I'm just an amateur" was his thinking at the time. But, Brian decided to give it a shot anyway. He enjoyed the challenge of coming up with an idea that sounded good and made sense to someone other than him. Well, the record labels never called and the band never made it out of the garage but there's one thing that did, his love for writing songs. "The telling of a story in a poetic rhythm is like French fries to me, I can't get enough."

Book Bigfoot

  • Pages : 0 pages

Book excerpt: Bigfoot presents a wry take on short-lived YouTube notoriety Jimmy is a teenager in a crummy little town. He's got a lousy best friend, Simon; a porn habit; and an uncle whose miserable existence is the embodiment of life stalled in its tracks. He's also got a tender soul, a pure-hearted crush, and the makings of a budding artist. A horrible YouTube video of Jimmy dancing in his living room becomes viral, courtesy of Simon, and makes every sweet and hopeful thing about Jimmy seem utterly pathetic. Everyone from fellow classmates to the clerk at the corner store has seen the video, and Jimmy finds himself a celebrity in his town, just for the wrong reason. Unfortunately, the YouTube antics do not stop there. As in his debut graphic novella, Nicolas, Pascal Girard showcases a spare, deceptively simple style that is wonderfully expressive with pitch-perfect dialogue. Girard utilizes a drawn line full of tentative, exploratory, and intuitive emotion, a line as sure of the treasure it carries as is the book's quiet hero.

Book Bigfoot

  • Author : Joshua Blu Buhs
  • Publisher : University of Chicago Press
  • Release : 2009-08-01
  • ISBN : 0226502155
  • Pages : 297 pages

Download or read book Bigfoot written by Joshua Blu Buhs and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2009-08-01 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Last August, two men in rural Georgia announced that they had killed Bigfoot. The claim drew instant, feverish attention, leading to more than 1,000 news stories worldwide—despite the fact that nearly everyone knew it was a hoax. Though Bigfoot may not exist, there’s no denying Bigfoot mania. With Bigfoot, Joshua Blu Buhs traces the wild and wooly story of America’s favorite homegrown monster. He begins with nineteenth-century accounts of wildmen roaming the forests of America, treks to the Himalayas to reckon with the Abominable Snowman, then takes us to northern California in 1958, when reports of a hairy hominid loping through remote woodlands marked Bigfoot’s emergence as a modern marvel. Buhs delves deeply into the trove of lore and misinformation that has sprung up around Bigfoot in the ensuing half century. We meet charlatans, pseudo-scientists, and dedicated hunters of the beast—and with Buhs as our guide, the focus is always less on evaluating their claims than on understanding why Bigfoot has inspired all this drama and devotion in the first place. What does our fascination with this monster say about our modern relationship to wilderness, individuality, class, consumerism, and the media? Writing with a scientist’s skepticism but an enthusiast’s deep engagement, Buhs invests the story of Bigfoot with the detail and power of a novel, offering the definitive take on this elusive beast.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Bigfoot Bestiary and Other Wonders is a compendium of natural and unnatural astonishment, anatomizing all those big, hairy monsters that haunt the human condition. Follow their footprints through these pages, and Martin Achatz may just make you a believer in the greatest mystery of all: Love with a capital "L". "Martin Achatz knows what it is to be big and hairy and to express the animal inside us. To paraphrase the Zen koan, live as if you were already Bigfoot. If Iowa Poet Laureate Marvin Bell has his Dead Man poems, Michigan's Achatz has rendered poetical the great ape of the Northwoods, and he eloquently and determinedly immerses us in the dream, meanwhile paying homage to Robert Frost, Pablo Neruda, Wallace Stevens, Flannery O'Connor, and all the other wonderful monsters." -Bonnie Jo Campbell, author of The Waters and American Salvage "Martin Achatz reimagines the legendary Bigfoot in his newest book, a funny and moving collection of poems that is playfully serious. Achatz melds cryptozoologic wonder with the heartrending stuff of the everyday world ... a fierce Sasquatch howl that illuminates and reveals the fragile state of our collective humanity." -W. Todd Kaneko, author of This Is How the Bone Sings "Newsflash! Bigfoot has been found! He resides in the mind of Martin Achatz who rides with 'love as big as Kong' this doppelgänger of a beast straight into the mystery that is his own life. And with abundant humor as well-Bigfoot has late fees at the Carnegie Library, goes trick-or-treating, auditions for Picasso to replace the Minotaur." -Dennis Hinrichsen, author of Dominion + Selected Poems Author of The Mysteries of the Rosary and a former U.P. Poet Laureate, Martin Achatz lives in Ishpeming, Michigan with his family. In his spare time, he chases comets and Bigfoot. From Modern History Press www.ModernHistoryPress.com

Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest is home to trees as tall as skyscrapers and moss as thick as carpet. According to the people who live there, another giant may dwell in these woods. For centuries, locals have reported encounters with the Sasquatch—a species of hairy man-ape that could inhabit this pristine wilderness. Driven by his childhood obsession with the Sasquatch, yet trying to remain objective, journalist John Zada seeks out the people and stories surrounding this enigmatic creature. He speaks with local Indigenous peoples and a Sasquatch-studying scientist. He hikes with a former bear hunter. Soon, he finds himself on quest for something infinitely more complex, cutting across questions of human perception, scientific inquiry, Indigenous traditions, the environment, and the power of the human imagination to believe in—or to outright dismiss—one of nature’s last great mysteries.

Download or read book Holidays with Bigfoot written by Amber Haqu and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-07-08 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dancing between the ridiculous and the touching, Holidays with Bigfoot is an exploration of legalized prostitution, a cardboard-headed cat specter, an acquitted murderer's bed and breakfast, the city-building virus, Schrodinger's dog, a resurrected local son, and an art cult. The result is irreverent scenes of the little plumbed depths of America (and just a little Canada for flavor) as Quackenbush explores the country accompanied by a hipster before it was cool, a black belt animal control officer, a collegiate muck-pastor, and a polymath former child model. Part Bill Bryson, part Tom Robbins, this book skewers esoteric tourist traps with a love only a native of the strange can have. Quackenbush mines his dysfunctional family, his failed romances, and his anxiety to produce something deeply personal and deeply weird.
