Book Measurement of CP Violation Parameters with a Dalitz Plot Analysis of B to D pi pi pi0 K

Download or read book Measurement of CP Violation Parameters with a Dalitz Plot Analysis of B to D pi pi pi0 K written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report the results of a CP violation analysis of the decay B{sup {+-}} → D{sub??−?°}K{sup {+-}}, where D{sub?+?−?°} indicates a neutral D meson detected in the final state?+?−?°, excluding K{sub S}°?°. The analysis makes use of 324 million e+e− → B{bar B} events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e− storage ring. By analyzing the?+?−?° Dalitz plot distribution and the B{sup {+-}} → D{sub?+?−?°} K{sup {+-}} branching fraction and decay rate asymmetry, we calculate parameters related to the phase? of the CKM unitarity triangle. We also measure the magnitudes and phases of the components of the D° → {pi}+{pi}−{pi}° decay amplitude.

Book Measurement of CP Violating Asymmetries in B0 to rho Pi 0 Using a Time Dependent Dalitz Plot Analysis

Download or read book Measurement of CP Violating Asymmetries in B0 to rho Pi 0 Using a Time Dependent Dalitz Plot Analysis written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in B° → (??)° →??−?° decays using a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis. The results are obtained from a data sample of 375 million?(4S) → B{bar B} decays, collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We measure 26 coefficients of the bilinear form-factor terms occurring in the time-dependent decay rate of the B° meson. We derive the physically relevant quantities from these coefficients. In particular, we measure a constraint on the angle? of the Unitarity Triangle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Particle physicists study the smallest particles and most basic rules of their interactions in humankind's current scope. The Charm Analysis Working Group (CWG) of the BaBar Collaboration studies decays involving the charm quark. They currently study mixing in D decays, an interesting and poorly understood phenomenon in current physics models. We, as part of the CWG, investigated the plausibility of using Dalitz plots and the BaBar analysis framework to study mixing in Wrong Sign (WS) D° 2!K[pi][pi]° decays. Others in the CWG have studied mixing in the 2-body decay, D° 2!K[pi]. The 3-body decay analyzed with the RooFitDalitz analysis package and Dalitz plots provides more information and another way of separating Doubly Cabibbo Suppressed Decays (DCSD) from mixing--which share the same end products. Through doing many simulations, we have demonstrated the usefulness of this approach. We selected D° 2!K[pi][pi]° events from Simulation Production run No. 4 (SP4) and BaBar's run 1 and run 2. We made Dalitz plots with this data. Now that we better understand Dalitz plots and software, we plan to select WS D° 2!K[pi][pi]° events and perform rate fits as discussed in BaBar Analysis Document (BAD) No. 443, as well as fits for several different decay times and resonances, in order to further distinguish DCSD from mixing.

Book Measurement of CP Parameters in B D pi pi pi0 K and Study of the X 3872 in B J psi Pi Pi K with the BaBar Detector

Download or read book Measurement of CP Parameters in B D pi pi pi0 K and Study of the X 3872 in B J psi Pi Pi K with the BaBar Detector written by Frank Winklmeier and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation presents two analyses performed on data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} asymmetric-energy B Factory. First, a Dalitz analysis is shown that performs the first measurement of CP violation parameters in the decay B{sup -} {yields} D{sub {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0}}K{sup -} using the decay rate asymmetry and D{sup 0} - {bar D}{sup 0} interference. The results can be used to further constrain the value of the CKM angle {gamma}. The second analysis studies the properties of the X(3872) in neutral and charged B {yields} J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}K decays. Measurements of the branching ratio and mass are presented as well as the search for additional resonances at higher masses.

Book Measurement of CP Violating Asymmetries in the B0 to K K K0 Dalitz Plot

Download or read book Measurement of CP Violating Asymmetries in the B0 to K K K0 Dalitz Plot written by D. Dujmic and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a preliminary measurement of CP-violation parameters in the decay B{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sup 0}, using approximately 347 million B{bar B} events collected by the BABAR detector at SLAC. Reconstructing the neutral kaon as K{sub S}{sup 0} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, K{sub S}{sup 0} {yields} {pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, or K{sub L}{sup 0}, they analyze the Dalitz plot distribution and measure fractions to intermediate states. They extract CP parameters from the asymmetries in amplitudes and phases between B{sup 0} and {bar B}{sup 0} decays across the Dalitz plot. For decays to {phi}K{sup 0}, they find {beta}{sub eff} = 0.06 {+-} 0.16 {+-} 0.05, A{sub CP} = -0.18 {+-} 0.20 {+-} 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one is systematic. For decays to f{sub 0}K{sup 0}, they find {beta}{sub eff} = 0.18 {+-} 0.19 {+-} 0.04, A{sub CP} = 0.45 {+-} 0.28 {+-} 0.10. Combining all K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sup 0} events and taking account of the different CP eigenvalues of the individual Dalitz plot components, they find {beta}{sub eff} = 0.361 {+-} 0.079 {+-} 0.037, A{sub CP} = -0.034 {+-} 0.079 {+-} 0.025. The trigonometric reflection at {pi}/2 - {beta}{sub eff} is disfavored at 4.6{sigma}. They also study angular distributions in B{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sub S}{sup 0} and B{sup +} {yields} {phi}K{sup +} decays and measure the direct CP asymmetry in B{sup +} {yields} {phi}K{sup +} decays, A{sub CP} = 0.046 {+-} 0.046 {+-} 0.017.

Book Constraints on R sub B and Gamma in B sup Rightarrow D sup 0 K sup Decays by a Dalitz Analysis of D sup 0 Rightarrow K sub S Pi sup Pi sup

Download or read book Constraints on R sub B and Gamma in B sup Rightarrow D sup 0 K sup Decays by a Dalitz Analysis of D sup 0 Rightarrow K sub S Pi sup Pi sup written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper the authors report on a measurement of direct CP violation in B[sup -] --> D(*)[sup 0]K[sup -] based on the analysis of the Dalitz distribution of the three-body decay D[sup 0] --> K[sub S][pi][sup -][pi][sup +]. The advantage of this method is that it involves the entire resonant substructure of the three-body decay, with Cabibbo-allowed and double Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes interfering directly. It is therefore expected to have a higher statistical precision than the methods outlined.

Book Evidence for Direct CP Violation in the Measurement of the Cabibbo Kobayashi Maskawa Angle Gamma with B to D K Decays

Download or read book Evidence for Direct CP Violation in the Measurement of the Cabibbo Kobayashi Maskawa Angle Gamma with B to D K Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report the measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating angle? through a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral D meson decays to K{sub S}°??− and K{sub S}° K+K− produced in the processes B{sup {-+}} → DK{sup {-+}}, B{sup {-+}} → D* K{sup {-+}} with D* → D?°, D?, and B{sup {-+}} → DK*{sup {-+}} with K*{sup {-+}} → K{sub S}°?{sup {-+}}, using 468 million B{bar B} pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− collider at SLAC. We measure? = (68 ± 14 ± 4 ± 3){sup o} (modulo 180{sup o}), where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty and the third reflects the uncertainty in the description of the neutral D decay amplitudes. This result is inconsistent with? = 0 (no direct CP violation) with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations.

Book excerpt: I present measurements of the relative branching ratios, Dalitz plot structures and CP-asymmetry values in the three-body singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D0 ->pi-pi+pi0 and D0 ->K-K+pi0 using data collected by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy ring at SLAC. I apply the results of the D0 ->pi-pi+pi0 analysis to extracting CP-violation parameters related to the CKM angle gamma (or phi_3) using the decay B- -> D0[->pi-pi+pi0] K-

Book Time Dependent Dalitz Analysis of B0 D K0 Pi Decays for the Measurement of 2beta gamma with the BaBar Detector

Download or read book Time Dependent Dalitz Analysis of B0 D K0 Pi Decays for the Measurement of 2beta gamma with the BaBar Detector written by Francesco Polci and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The CP violation is explained in the Standard Model with three quark generations with an irreducible phase in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix. The unitarity of this matrix can be represented in a complex plane as a triangle (called Unitarity Triangle). The measurement of the parameters of the triangle is a powerful test of the Standard Model description of the CP violation. This thesis tries to measure the weak phase 2beta+ gamma through the B0 -> D+ K0 Pi- decays. Respect to the two body decays B0 -> D(*)+ Pi- and B0 -> D+ Rho- presently used for the measurement of the same weak phase, the B0 -> D+ K0 Pi- decays should show up a larger CP asymmetry and does not rely on any theoretical assumption. After a review of all the methods for the measurement of 2beta+gamma, the thesis presents the results of a feasibility study of the measurement with the B0 -> D+ K0 Pi- decays . In a second part, the analysis performed on 316 fb-1 of data collected by the BaBar detector at the B-factory PEP2 is presented, from the selection of the events to the time-dependent Dalitz fit technique used in order to extract the weak phase 2beta+gamma as well as the amplitudes and phases of the intermediate resonances contributing to the decay. The result of the analysis gives the following estimation: 2beta+gamma = 89 +/- 53(stat) +23-14(syst) degrees with an irreducible ambiguity of 180 degrees.

Book Measurement of CP violating Parameters in Fully Reconstructed B D pi and B Drho Decays

Download or read book Measurement of CP violating Parameters in Fully Reconstructed B D pi and B Drho Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the measurement of sin2[beta] is now a precision measurement, the constraints on the other two angles of the Unitarity Triangle, [alpha] and [gamma], are still limited by statistics and/or by theoretical uncertainties. This paper reports on the measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in B[sup 0] --> D(*)[sup [+-]][pi][sub [-+]] and B[sup 0] --> D[sup [+-]][rho][sup [-+]] decays in [Upsilon](4S) --> B[bar B] decays, asymmetries which are rleated to sin(2[beta] + [gamma]). This analysis updates the results already published by including a new decay mode (B[sup 0] --> D[sup [+-]][rho][sup [-+]]) and a larger data sample (110 instead of 88 million [Upsilon](4S) --> B[bar B] decays).

This book was released on 2008 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present preliminary results of improved measurements of the CP-violating asymmetries and branching fractions in the decays B° →??−, B° → K+?−, B° →?°?°, and B° → K°?°. This update includes all data taken at the?(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the asymmetric PEP-II B-meson factory at SLAC, corresponding to 467 ± 5 million B{bar B} pairs. They find S{sub??} = -0.68 ± 0.10 ± 0.03, C{sub??} = -0.25 ± 0.08 ± 0.02,?{sub K{sub?}} = -0.107 ± 0.016{sub -0.004}, {sup +0.006}, C{sub?°?°} = -0.43 ± 0.26 ± 0.05,?(B° →?°?°) = (1.83 ± 0.21 ± 0.13) x 10−6,?(B° → K°?°) = (10.1 ± 0.6 ± 0.4) x 10−6, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. They observe CP violation with a significance of 6.7? in B° → {pi}− and 6.1? in B° → K+{pi}−. Constraints on the Unitarity Triangle angle? are determined from the isospin relation between all B → {pi}{pi} rates and asymmetries.
