Book excerpt: The word saint refers to all Christians, but this book focuses on Saints with a capital S-those who have been officially recognized by the Catholic Church. To be recognized as a Saint, a few things must happen. First, when a righteous person dies, witnesses provide evidence to the Catholic Church of the person's love for Jesus. The person's letters, diaries, and books are studied. If the Church believes there is evidence to prove he or she lived a holy life, the person is declared a "Servant of God." Then, as more evidence is presented, he or she becomes known as "Venerable," then "Blessed," and finally as "Saint." For clarity, anyone in this book who is in this process is noted as being "on track to become a Saint."Saints may have multiple names, dates, and locations associated with their life. These devotions use only one name to refer to each Saint, include each Saint's approximate lifespan, and mention only the locations relevant to the devotion. Locations are presented as they were known during the Saint's lifetime. A modern name of their location is included if applicable. Many, but not all, devotions are ordered by the Saints' feast days. The devotion dates that do not match the feast days are marked with an asterisk by the devotion date (e.g., January 3*).The life of each Saint inspires us to love Jesus the way that each Saint loved Him. All Saints loved Jesus with everything they had. As you read their stories, remember this: all people (including you!) are called to give Jesus everything.

Book My Holy Hour St Maximilian Kolbe

Download or read book My Holy Hour St Maximilian Kolbe written by Vikk Simmons and published by Holy Hour Books. This book was released on 2018-01-30 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New journal for Lent and ordinary times featuring St. Maximilian Kolbe, a man of Love, Sacrifice, and Holiness Are you at peace or is life out of control? Are you overwhelmed with the onslaught of daily life? Do you yearn for peace but feel it's impossible to find? A Holy Hour is the perfect answer and a Holy Hour journal is the perfect companion. In 1941 St. Maximilian Kolbe laid down his life for another during his final days in the Auschwitz death camp. He personified John 15:13 "Greater love than this no man hath, that a man should lay down his life for his friends." Ten men were chosen to die by starvation as the result of a prisoner escaping. Fr. Maximillian Kolbe offered to take the place of another prisoner who had a family. In spite of his own pain and starvation, this holy priest ministered to the rest of the chosen men during his dying days. In the end, he and three other men who were still alive were killed by injection. Pope John Paul II canonized him as a saint in 1982 and declared him to be the "saint of the twentieth century." Use this journal during your holy hours and prayer time to reflect upon the life of this man who is the patron saint of families, prisoners, journalists, political prisoners, drug addicts and the pro-life movement. Holy Hours help you grow spiritually and deepen your relationship with God. You'll find you're able to focus more on God, adore Jesus, and open up to the Holy Spirit. Holy Hour devotional journals are great companions during times of prayer and meditation. Today many Christians strive for a daily holy hour, while a growing number of Catholics follow in the footsteps of Bishop Fulton Sheen and practice adoration in front of the blessed sacrament. My Holy Hour journals, with their blank lined pages, offer an opportunity to capture those moments of inspiration that happen during Eucharistic and private prayers and meditations, as well as during bible study, worship times, and mass. This devotional prayer journal contains 110 blank lined pages and the following sections: Why Keep a Holy Hour How to Keep a Holy Hour Holy Hour Pages Holy Hour Quotes Record Your Favorite Quotes Personal Index Pages My Holy Hour journals are designed to help Catholics and other Christians from all walks of life discover, explore, and enjoy the many rewards formed by a deeper connection to Christ.
