Ivan Resnova wants nothing more than to escape his hard, brutal past. Starting over is not so easy once you’ve been a powerful crime boss but now, instead of being punished for his alleged crimes, Ivan fears that the one woman he can’t forget is in danger of paying the price. Crimsyn “Syn” Delaney thought the danger she’d faced was over, and that she could resume her life. She never imagined it would return with a vengeance and throw her back into Ivan’s world. But when an attempt is made on her life, she needs Ivan more than ever to keep her safe—even if she is in danger of falling deeply and dangerously in love. . . “Leigh’s books can scorch the ink off the page.”—RT Book Reviews

Book Flint Daggers in Prehistoric Europe

Download or read book Flint Daggers in Prehistoric Europe written by Catherine J. Frieman and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2015-12-31 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than a century flint daggers have been among the most closely studied and most heavily published later prehistoric lithic tools. It is well established that they are found across Europe and beyond, and that many were widely circulated over many generations. Yet, few researchers have attempted to discuss the entirety of the flint dagger phenomenon. The present volume brings together papers that address questions of the regional variability and socio-technical complexity of flint daggers and their production. It focuses on the typology, chronology, technology, functionality and meaning of flint and other lithic daggers produced primarily in Europe, but also in the Eastern Mediterranean and East Asia, in prehistory. The 14 papers by leading researchers provide a comprehensive overview of the state of knowledge concerning various flint dagger corpora as well as potential avenues for the development of a research agenda across national, regional and disciplinary boundaries. The volume originates from a session held at the 2011 meeting of the European Association of Archaeology but includes additional commissioned contributions.

Everyone you have even known is dead, so what do you do about it? How far are you willing to fall in order to have your vengeance? For one small elf prince, the answer is easy: as far as he has to, even if that means giving up everything that made him who he was. Journey with the young elf prince as he follows the winding trails and explores the darkest corners of the world and his mind, testing his iron will and extraordinary agility with every step. One thing is for sure, no matter how many or which trails he walks, there is only one destination - the man that ordered his entire world destroyed and the man that carried out those orders. The question then becomes: will he live long enough to see this mission through to the end or will his obsession drive him over the edge first?

Book excerpt: Sneak PeekGwen pushed through the thick foliage, careful not to actually disturb the leaves around her and give away her position. Staying just within the forest's protective cover, she stared at the shadowed keep in the distance.Medowhavin.She shuttered in a moment of unease that bordered on terror, then pushed the unacceptable weakness aside. They may well be the heartless, brutal barbarians that Magniss had warned her never to go near, but they had food and water, and there wasn't another keep within walking distance of Camcoillcnoc. She frowned as her thoughts tried to stray to the man she'd left wounded on the floor by his bed back at Camcoillcnoc. Mortimer the thief. She refused to worry about the man's fate...He'd deserved that lump on the head... She was a lady, not some peasant's willing wench.Frowning in displeasure, she thought, also, of her fallen Duke. He had not treated her at all like she'd always thought a lady should be treated, either. Her husband had been a wretched soul, having grown more so since they had left Carrigcnoc and he'd began to realize she did not wield the mystical powers he'd feared for so long. She couldn't bring herself to mourn him. That blade through the heart was a far too quick and merciful death for the awful wretch. She'd known only misery at his hands... She felt a wave of shame as she thought of the past few weeks... the atrocities forced upon her by Magniss, her husband, a man who should have been her champion, her protector. If noblemen were so vile, the rest must be so much worse... She shuttered to think of how awful it would have been living with that Mortimer... a man who did not even have noble blood. Heaving a sigh, she continued to watch the guards on the wall of Medowhavin.Food she could get, she'd surpassed Magniss's skill with a bow within a week's time... a fact that had infuriated him.She flinched anew, at the mere memory of his enraged tantrum, still felt the sting of his hand. She remembered clearly, the look of terror in his eyes as he realized he'd slapped her and feared she would unleash her wrath upon him... and then his dawning realization that she had no power...none.She pushed the memory away with a shutter and refocused on the problem at hand...she wouldn't last more than a few more days without water, and she hadn't come across a single natural spring in over a week. She felt a wave of gratitude as she thought of Lord Quilliam's bride...the one kind soul she'd encountered on this journey. Without her mercy, she'd now be living a hell like no other. She shuttered anew as she remembered Lord Quilliam forcing her to choose between life with that Mortimer or life 'servicing' his entire regiment of soldiers. How could his bride stomach the vile man? A life of degradation and servitude under that man's power would have been worse than no life at all.She frowned at the thought. She wanted to live... She needed to get home and would not be able to make such a long journey without water. Medowhavin was her only choice.~ "Book 3 in the Dagger's Edge series continues this exciting Medieval saga with mystery, romance and edge of your seat twist and turns! When vandalism escalates into murder, Moretti must resist the attractions of Ensor’s glamorous American wife, Sydney, consolidate his working relationship with Falla, and establish whether the murders on Guernsey go beyond the island. Why is the Marchesa Vannoni in Guernsey? What is the significance of the design that appears on the daggers used as murder weapons, as well as on the Vannoni family crest? And what role does the marchesas statuesque niece, Giulia, who runs the family business and is probably bisexual, really play?

Book Winks and Daggers

Download or read book Winks and Daggers written by Thomas Hauser and published by University of Arkansas Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thomas Hauser's annual collections have been avidly anticipated from the time A Beautiful Sickness was published by the University of Arkansas Press in 2001 until his most recent collection, Boxing Is . . . , was named a 2010 Best Sports Book of the Year by Booklist, which has called Hauser "the current champ in boxing literature." Sportswriter Donald McRae recently wrote, "Thomas Hauser has become boxing's indispensable writer with a stream of books and internet columns that strip away the layers of intrigue to reveal a seamy but addictive world. Whether writing Muhammad Ali's biography, or shredding boxing's power brokers, Hauser instills passion and gravitas into his work." Winks and Daggers continues that tradition with Hauser's writing from 2010. Hauser brings readers into Manny Pacquiao's intimate circle in the moments before last year's two biggest fights. His award-winning investigative journalism exposes the inner workings of HBO Sports and examines the use of performance-enhancing drugs in boxing. There's a look back in time at Rocky Marciano and Sugar Ray Leonard. And there's much more in this latest collection in the series that has become, according to reviewer Bart Barry, "an essential part of boxing's official record and the chronicles of this era most likely to endure."
