Book excerpt: Sugar left on sentient blade business. She came home to a very mad panther. When the sentient blade sends her on a rescue mission, Dr. Sugar Jennings sneaks out of her Bad Panther’s bed without saying goodbye. Why? Because a woman’s got to do what she’s got to do. Okay, not really. Sugar’s more of a straightforward kind of person who would have preferred having the freaking fight to all the subterfuge. Axel’s father, Rodu—a fellow blade host and her mentor—says asking forgiveness later is far better than asking for permission which she’s never going to get. Sugar doesn’t understand why her alien panther shifter slash next-in-line for the Lyran throne mate is all up in her sentient blade business. She thinks Rodu should have done a better job teaching his thick-headed son about the concept of maintaining some personal space while in a relationship. Sugar’s blade business turns out to be saving another sentient blade host. This one is a silver-spooned, cocky kid fresh out of college whose ineptitude and negative attitude makes Sugar look like the best blade host ever selected. The younger man is amusing and adorable but also a big pain in everyone’s rear, especially her new alien-sister-in-law’s. But like it or not, the kid is the host of the other Protector blade which means he’s Sugar’s counterpart. She has to tolerate him and keep him alive if she can. Honestly? All this blade drama is starting to wear on Sugar’s last nerve. She needs some space to be what she needs to be. Her alien panther isn’t the only one getting mad over the situation. Book He Is With Us

Download or read book He Is With Us written by Dawn Redding and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was in high school, my English teachers always required us to keep up with a daily journal. And I didn't like it at all. When we asked why we had to submit a journal, they said, "You need a record of things you did in your life and dates and such." We questioned why. She said, "You might want to write a book one day about your life, and you will have everything you need about your history in your journal." I said that will never happen! But look at me now. I am writing a book! This is basically an autobiography with an emphasis on Jesus in my life. I haven't always followed Jesus as I should have. I never stopped believing, but when I was younger, it wasn't a priority in my life. As I got older and closer to Jesus, I could see where he was with me in my life, and I didn't even realize he was there. He never gave up on me. He was there with me when there was joy in my life, and he was with me when I didn't know which way to turn to next. I want to share my story of life and give Jesus the glory. He is with us. He wants a relationship with us. He is working in your life when you don't even realize it. Then when you do realize he is there for us, it changes your life for the better. You may still have struggles, but remember, he loves us and wants a relationship with us. Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said "Surely the LORD is in this place and I did not know it." --Genesis 28:16

There is a story of us watching a falling star land not far from the house, what it smelled like and what it looked like when we went to find it. One story tells of us saving and trying to raise 86 tadpoles in the bedroom and the crazy scene when we had little frogs hopping all over the bedroom and how Mama saved them. Once a wild boar chased us down a mountain road! One kid accidentally stepped on a nonpoisonous snake and ran wildly through the yard, bringing the neighborhood to the rescue. There are many other stories in this book that will remind you at times of “The Little Rascals” antics. The kids are all good natured, fun-loving and just enjoyed playing outside using their imaginations. It has inspired many children to get outside and explore.

Book excerpt: Sometimes a dog isn't just a dog--sometimes he's the glue the holds a whole family together. Mr. Mosely is a special dog. Not just because he's so big (he's part Great Dane.) Not just because he's all white (with one black spot under his eye and a heart shaped splotch on his chest.) Not just because he's clumsy, or because of tricks (he only knows one, and it's not very good.) He's special because he seems to know exactly what everyone in Corey's family needs, even when they don't know themselves. This is the story of Mr. Mosely, from his puppyhood to the last time he curls up on the back porch. It's the story of how sometimes a dog isn't "just a dog". Sometimes he's the glue the holds a whole family together.

Book Dad God and Me

Download or read book Dad God and Me written by Ralph Friesen and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2019-12-10 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a compelling, honest, and transparent account, Ralph Friesen tells the story of his father, Reverend Peter D. Friesen of Steinbach, Manitoba. He also tells his own story, of the search for his father and a crisis of faith. Growing up in a fundamentalist Mennonite community as the son of a minister, Ralph resisted the pressure to be “saved” and struggled to find a spiritual alternative. His father suffered a debilitating stroke when Ralph was a young teenager, but it is only now, in his seventies, that Ralph has delved into the meaning of that event. Dad, God, and Me is Ralph’s quest to discover and convey the man his father was—with all of his strengths, faults, aspirations, and regrets. Drawing on journal entries, old photographs, and personal memories, this memoir welcomes readers into a particular time, place, and family. An engaging read for anyone who appreciates that “real life” can be challenging, painful, and beautiful all at the same time.
