Book D0 Anti D0 Hadronic Mixing and DCS Decays from FOCUS

Download or read book D0 Anti D0 Hadronic Mixing and DCS Decays from FOCUS written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present an analysis of the decay D[sup 0] [yields] K[sup +][pi][sup -] from FOCUS. From a sample of 234 events we find a branching ratio of [Lambda](D[sup 0] [yields] K[sup +][pi][sup -])/[Lambda](D[sup 0] [yields] K[sup -][pi][sup +]) = (0.430[sub -0.061][sup +0.062] [+-] 0.031)% under the assumption of no mixing and no CP violation. We also present limits on charm mixing.

Download or read book Searches for D0 Anti D0 Mixing Rare Charm And Tau Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I discuss the results on D°-{bar D}° mixing through hadronic as well as semi-leptonic charm decays, rare flavor-changing neutral currents in the charm sector and the lepton flavor violating [tau] decaying to charged lighter leptons. The results from both BABAR and Belle are presented in this review.

Book Search for D0 Anti D0 Mixing Using Semileptonic Decays

Download or read book Search for D0 Anti D0 Mixing Using Semileptonic Decays written by K. T. Flood and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on an 87-fb{sup -1} dataset collected by the Babar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-Factory, a search for D{sup 0}-{bar D}{sup 0} mixing has been made using the semileptonic decay modes D*{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}D{sup 0}, D{sup 0} {yields} Ke{nu} (+c.c.). The use of these modes allows unambiguous flavor tagging and a combined fit of the D{sup 0} decay time and D*{sup +}-D{sup 0} mass difference ({Delta}M) distributions. The high-statistics sample of unmixed semileptonic D{sup 0} decays is used to model the {Delta}M distribution and time-dependence of mixed events directly from the data. Neural networks are used to select events and reconstruct the D{sup 0}. A result consistent with no charm mixing has been obtained, R{sub mix} = 0.0023 {+-} 0.0012 {+-} 0.0004. This corresponds to an upper limit of R{sub mix}

Book Relating D0 anti D0 Mixing and D0 L L with New Physics

Download or read book Relating D0 anti D0 Mixing and D0 L L with New Physics written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We point out how, in certain models of New Physics, the same combination of couplings occurs in the amplitudes for both D°-{bar D}° mixing and the rare decays D° --> ll−. If the New Physics dominates and is responsible for the observed mixing, then a very simple correlation exists between the magnitudes of each; in fact the rates for the decay D° --> ll− are completely fixed by the mixing. Observation of D° --> l+l− in excess of the Standard Model prediction could identify New Physics contributions to D°-{bar D}° mixing.

Book D0 Anti D0 Mixing at BaBar

Download or read book D0 Anti D0 Mixing at BaBar written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The BABAR and Belle collaborations have recently found evidence for mixing within the D meson system. We present some of the mixing search techniques used by BABAR and their status as of the beginning of the summer 2007. These have culminated in a measurement in the K[pi] decay final state of the D that is inconsistent with the no-mixing hypothesis with a significance of 3.9 standard deviations.

Book Mixing and CP Violation in B and D Decays

Download or read book Mixing and CP Violation in B and D Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The standard Model predicts sizeable if not even maximal B/sub s/ - anti B/sub s/ mixing; B/sub d/ - anti B/sub d/ mixing is not expected to exceed the one percent level unless top quarks are very heavy (m/sub t/ greater than or equal to 150 GeV). B decays also offer the best opportunity to discover CP violation outside the neutral K system. Employing the standard model one predicts - with reasonable confidence - CP symmetries of up to 20% (or even more in some cases). The branching ratios for the individual exclusive modes of interest are not expected to exceed the 10−3 level in most cases; the identification of such decays poses non-trivial problems. It is shown that by summing intelligently over appropriate classes of decays one can greatly enhance statistics without jeopardizing the signal. Very similar searches can be performed for D decays.

Book excerpt: Recently, the B factory experiments BABAR and Belle as well as the CDF collaboration found evidence for mixing in the D meson system. The current status (beginning of summer 2008) of the experimental results of D° mixing is summarized. In this paper, we present an overview of D° mixing. After an introduction to the charm mixing phenomenology and analysis techniques, results of the mixing parameters and CP violation as related to mixing are summarized. They are obtained from hadronic two-body, multi-body final states and from quantum correlated D° decays of the experiments BABAR, Belle, Cleo and CDF. Mixing results from semileptonic D° decays can be found elsewhere.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presented are preliminary results from the BABAR Collaboration on charm physics, including limits on D[sup 0] mixing from the ratio of lifetimes from K[sup -][pi][sup+], K[sup+]K[sup -], and[pi][sup+][pi][sup -] final states (using 47.8 fb[sup -1] of data) and branching ratio, and Dalitz amplitude analyses of the decays D[sup 0][yields] K[sup 0]K[sup -][pi][sup+], [bar K][sup 0]K[sup+][pi][sup -], and[bar K][sup 0]K[sup+]K[sup -] (using 22 fb[sup -1] of data). The status of direct measurements of D[sup 0] mixing using wrong-sign D[sup 0][yields] K[sup+][pi][sup -] decays is also discussed.

Book Search for D0 D0bar Mixing and Rare Charm Decays

Download or read book Search for D0 D0bar Mixing and Rare Charm Decays written by U. Egede and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a dataset acquired by the BABAR experiment running on and near the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance from 1999-2002, an upper limit is set on the rate of D{sup 0}-{bar D}{sup 0} mixing using the decay mode D*{sup +} {yields} D{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}, followed by a semi-leptonic decay of the D{sup 0}. Results are compared to previous BABAR analysis using hadronic decays. We also set limits on the flavor-changing neutral current decays D{sup 0} {yields} e{sup +}e{sup -} ({mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}) and the lepton-flavor violation decays D{sup 0} {yields} e{sup {+-}}{mu}{sup {-+}}.
