Le but de cette thèse est de détecter et suivre les objets mobiles dans des séquences ayant un fond dynamique, avec de forts changements d'illumination, de faibles contrastes et éventuellement acquises par une caméra mobile. Cette thèse est décomposée en deux parties. Dans la première, une méthode de détection est proposée. Elle repose sur la définition d'une grille de points décrits par leur mouvement et leur photométrie. Ces points sont ensuite regroupés en "clusters en mouvement" avec un algorithme mean shift à noyau variable et une méthode de sélection automatique de la taille des noyaux. La deuxième partie propose une méthode de suivi combinant des distributions de couleur et de mouvement, la prédiction de l'objet et des observations extérieures (pouvant être les clusters en mouvement) dans une fonction d'énergie minimisée par coupe minimale/flot maximal dans un graphe.

Book excerpt: Dans le cadre de cette thèse nous nous sommes intéressés à l'application des outils d'apprentissage statistique aux problèmes d'extraction et de suivi d'objets dans le contexte de la surveillance vidéo par des caméras statiques. Notre étude se déroule en trois phases : la première consiste à détecter l'ensemble des objets en mouvement par l'analyse des variations de luminosité au cours du temps. Nous avons proposé pour cela une méthode de détection de tels objets dans la continuité des travaux de Grimson et Stauffer à la base de la modélisation de la luminance des pixels par des mélanges des lois Gaussiennes. Nous proposons une règle de décision statistique au sens du MAP simplifiée pour satisfaire les contraintes temps-réel. Une régularisation des résultats de la détection par modélisation des champs des étiquettes en tant que champs de Markov nous a permis d'obtenir des masques de mouvement les plus complets aussi bien au niveau spatial que temporel. Suite à cette première analyse, un deuxième processus de détection est exécuté en vue de l'identification d'un ou plusieurs objets d'intérêt. L'ensemble de ces objets est prédéfini au préalable par un opérateur. Dans le cadre de ce travail, nous avons envisagé une application concrète, celle de la détection de visages, tout en considérant des solutions statistiques de classification suffisamment généralistes ainsi qu'une étude des espaces de représentation adéquats. Nous avons étudié et déployé un classifieur à base de Support Vector Machine -SVM-. Afin d'optimiser les temps de calcul, nous avons proposé une méthode d'élimination des vecteurs de support linéairement dépendants ainsi qu'un schéma de détection de l'objet d'intérêt uniquement dans les zones de mouvement précédemment détectées. Enfin, la troisième contribution de cette thèse consiste en un outil de suivi d'objet appris avec un modèle de mouvement affine complet de premier ordre et ceci à la base du même formalisme SVM. Ici les paramètres de classifieur appris à l'étape de la détection sont réutilisés pour le suivi. Ce modèle permet ainsi de gérer les mouvements complexes des objets filmés dans des environnements naturels.

Cette tâche se complexifie lorsque la caméra utilisée est en mouvement. En effet, l'environnement capté par ce type de caméra apparaît en mouvement et il devient plus difficile de distinguer les objets qui effectuent réellement un mouvement de ceux qui constituent la partie statique de la scène. Dans cette thèse, nous apportons des contributions au problème de détection d'objets mobiles dans le flux vidéo d'une caméra mobile. L'idée principale qui nous permet de distinguer les éléments mobiles de ceux qui sont statiques repose sur un calcul de distance dans l'espace 3D. Les positions 3D de caractéristiques extraites des images sont estimées par triangulation puis leurs mouvements 3D sont analysés pour réaliser un étiquetage éparse statique/mobile de ces points. Afin de rendre la détection robuste au bruit, l'analyse des mouvements 3D des caractéristiques est comparée à d'autres points précédemment estimés statiques. Une mesure de confiance, mise à jour au cours du temps, est utilisée pour déterminer l'étiquette à attribuer à chacun des points. Nos contributions ont été appliquées à des jeux de données virtuelles (issus du projet Previz 2) et réelles (reconnus dans la communauté [Och+14]) et les comparaisons ont été réalisées avec l'état de l'art. Les résultats obtenus montrent que la contrainte 3D proposée dans cette thèse, couplée à une analyse statistique et temporelle des mouvements, permet de détecter des éléments mobiles dans le flux vidéo d'une caméra en mouvement et ce même dans des cas complexes où les mouvements apparents de la scène ne sont pas uniformes.

His formal systematization of plans, elevations, and sections transformed architectural design into a selective modular typology in which symmetry and simple geometrical forms prevailed. His emphasis on pragmatic values, to the exclusion of metaphysical concerns, represented architecture as a closed system that subjected its own formal language to logical processes. Now published in English for the first time, the Précis and the Graphic Portion are classics of architectural education.
