Book excerpt: Les sur- ou sous-diagnostics de Trouble Spécifique du Langage (TSL) chez l’enfant bilingue successif sont fréquents et interrogent les cliniciens : comment distinguer dans un contexte de plurilinguisme les difficultés langagières liées à l’acquisition d’une langue seconde, de celles liées à une pathologie du langage? Cette question est ainsi au coeur d’une problématique complexe qui concerne un grand nombre d’enfants bilingues en situation de handicap linguistique, scolarisés en milieu scolaire ordinaire. Afin de proposer à chacun un accompagnement approprié, il paraît nécessaire de savoir comment distinguer les enfants en difficultés du fait de leur bilinguisme de ceux en difficultés du fait de leur pathologie (TSL). Cette étude se focalisera sur une courte épreuve expérimentale de répétition de phrases (RepPH), créée pour évaluer la morphosyntaxe et composée de 30 phrases à répéter. Notre objectif est de déterminer si cette épreuve s’avère pertinente pour distinguer les enfants bilingues avec trouble du langage de ceux sans trouble, et pour mettre en évidence les difficultés langagières liées au bilinguisme et celles liées à la pathologie. De plus, nous évaluerons la pertinence de l’utilisation d’un questionnaire parental s’intéressant aux facteurs de risque du TSL, aux propriétés de l’input, ainsi qu’à l’évaluation par les parents des habiletés langagières actuelles de leur enfant, pour confirmer voire expliquer les résultats obtenus à l’épreuve expérimentale. Notre étude se base sur l’évaluation standardisée des différents domaines langagiers, dans les deux langues, de 14 enfants bilingues portugais-français âgés de 5 à 8 ans, dont 7 sont suivis en orthophonie pour troubles du langage oral. Par ailleurs, 34 enfants monolingues sont évalués, dont 15 diagnostiqués TSL. Nous avons pu mettre en évidence que l’épreuve de répétition de phrases associée au questionnaire parental pourrait permettre une évaluation pertinente et fiable de l’enfant bilingue.
