Using depictions of relevant uniforms and equipment plus photos of the troops in action, military uniformology expert Nigel Thomas explains how the Czech Army was organized and how it fought alongside Allied forces in the Middle East and at Normandy. He describes the involvement of free Czech agents operating from Britain in Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Nazi governor Reinhard Heydrich in occupied Bohemia-Moravia, and the part Czech soldiers played in mutinies in both Italy and Prague against German occupation which ultimately helped to secure a final Allied victory.

Book excerpt: Revolución Libertadora or the Liberating Revolution is the name by which the military dictatorship that ruled Argentina is known after overthrowing the constitutional president, Juan Domingo Perón, closing the National Congress, deposing the members of the Supreme Court, the provincial and municipal authorities and university and commissioning the entire Judicial Power through a coup that began on September 16 1955 and that, after more than two years, transferred the government to President-elect Arturo Frondizi, on May 1 1958, who would be overthrown in 1962. The preparations for the coup of September 1955 were intense and very careful, since the plotters did not want to repeat the mistakes made in the events of June. For this coup, the collaboration of several important army units was finally obtained, in addition to the Navy and the Air Force. Revolución Libertadora Volume 2 details the warlike actions of both sides day by day, along with the eventual resignation, exile and return of President Perón. The text is supported by an extensive number of rare images, tables and specially-commissioned colour artwork.

The total motive power in Czechoslovakia was in 1932 estimated at about H. P. Of which H. P. Was supplied by steam engines, by boat engines, and H. P. By gas and combustion engines. In 1931 there were in all 1230 electric power plants with a capacity of kilowatts and an annual production of over three billion kilowatt hours, of which percent was generated by water power, percent by steam power, and the remainder by naphtha and gas engines. About 210 kilowatt hours were produced for every inhabitant; 52 percent of the communities and 73 percent of the population was supplied with electricity. Transmission lines totaled about kilometers. Research and Experimentation. There exist in the Republic of Czechoslovakia 284 industrial and educational research labora tories, all of which are members of the Czechoslovak Society for Research and Testing of Materials and Constructions.
