Book Deformation of Aluminum Alloy Under Cyclic Creep Loadings

Download or read book Deformation of Aluminum Alloy Under Cyclic Creep Loadings written by ZL. Gong and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyclic creep tests were conducted on an aluminum alloy at 160 and 200°C. Measured results indicated that mechanical load cycling with long dwell periods can produce significant creep acceleration. Such creep acceleration not only resulted in the increasing of minimum strain rate at subsequent loading cycles, but also reduced the creep rupture life of the material. Microstructure examinations by TEM and SEM were carried out to study microstructural damages under monotonic and cyclic loadings. Results indicated that remobilization of dislocation and damage enhancement during stress cycling were chiefly responsible for creep acceleration.

Book THE EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENT ON THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF Materials

Download or read book THE EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENT ON THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF Materials written by Irvin R. Kramer and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cyclic creep behavior of aluminum 7075-T6 and titanium (6Al/4V) was investigated in air and in vacuum. The cyclic creep decreased in vacuum. The kinetics for the relaxation of the surface layer stress in copper appear to follow a first-order reaction rate with respect to the surface layer stress. The apparent activation energy for the process is 3340 calories per mole. This low activation energy can be accounted for by a driving force imposed by the surface layer. The behavior of copper and titanium in media that cause stress corrosion cracking was investigated. These media caused the surface layer stress to increase appreciably. A tentative theory for stress corrosion is suggested. (Author).

Book Properties of Aluminum Alloys

Download or read book Properties of Aluminum Alloys written by John Gilbert Kaufman and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compilation of data collected and maintained for many years as the property of a large aluminum company, which decided in 1997 to make it available to other engineers and materials specialists. In tabular form, presents data on the tensile and creep properties of eight species of wrought alloys and five species of cast alloys in the various shapes used in applications. Then looks at the fatigue data for several alloys under a range of conditions and loads. The data represent the typical or average findings, and though some were developed years ago, the collection is the largest and most detailed available. There is no index.

Book Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto Plastic Behaviour of Materials

Download or read book Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto Plastic Behaviour of Materials written by P.D. Portella and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-09-30 with total page 890 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 4th International Conference on Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials was held from 7-11 September 1998 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In response to a call for papers, nearly 200 extended abstracts from 32 countries were submitted to the organizing committee. These papers were presented at the conference as invited lectures or short contributions and as oral or poster presentation. All the papers were presented in poster form in extended poster sessions–a peculiarity of the LCF Conferences which allows an intense, thorough discussion of all contributions. Each chapter provides a comprehensive overview of a materials class or a given subject. Many contributions could have been included in two or even three chapters and so, in order to give a better overview of the content, the reader will find a subject index, a material index and an author index in the back of the book.

Book The Stress and Temperature Dependence of Creep in an Al 2 0wt Li Alloy

Download or read book The Stress and Temperature Dependence of Creep in an Al 2 0wt Li Alloy written by Earl F. Goodson and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of stress and temperature on the creep behavior of an Aluminum-2.0 wt% Lithium alloy was investigated in the temperature range from 300 to 500 deg C. This temperature interval corresponds to a solid solution of Li in Al. Experimental results indicate that Al-2.0wt%Li behaves as a pure metal class alloy (class II). This is demonstrated by several creep characteristics including the value of the stress exponent (n approx. 5), the shape of the creep curve, and the nature of the creep transient after a temperature change. However, anomalous behavior of the activation energy was observed. Activation energies up to 55 kilocalories per mole, decreasing to approximately 33 kcal/mole at higher temperatures, were observed by the temperature cycling technique.
