Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Information security has become an important and critical component of every organization. In his book, Professor Chatterjee explains the challenges that organizations experience to protect information assets. The book sheds light on different aspects of cybersecurity including a history and impact of the most recent security breaches, as well as the strategic and leadership components that help build strong cybersecurity programs. This book helps bridge the gap between academia and practice and provides important insights that may help professionals in every industry." Mauricio Angee, Chief Information Security Officer, GenesisCare USA, Fort Myers, Florida, USA "This book by Dave Chatterjee is by far the most comprehensive book on cybersecurity management. Cybersecurity is on top of the minds of board members, CEOs, and CIOs as they strive to protect their employees and intellectual property. This book is a must-read for CIOs and CISOs to build a robust cybersecurity program for their organizations." Vidhya Belapure, Chief Information Officer, Huber Engineered Materials & CP Kelco, Marietta, Georgia, USA Cybersecurity has traditionally been the purview of information technology professionals, who possess specialized knowledge and speak a language that few outside of their department can understand. In our current corporate landscape, however, cybersecurity awareness must be an organization-wide management competency in order to mitigate major threats to an organization’s well-being—and be prepared to act if the worst happens. With rapidly expanding attacks and evolving methods of attack, organizations are in a perpetual state of breach and have to deal with this existential threat head-on. Cybersecurity preparedness is a critical and distinctive competency, and this book is intended to help students and practitioners develop and enhance this capability, as individuals continue to be both the strongest and weakest links in a cyber defense system. In addition to providing the non-specialist with a jargon-free overview of cybersecurity threats, Dr. Chatterjee focuses most of the book on developing a practical and easy-to-comprehend management framework and success factors that will help leaders assess cybersecurity risks, address organizational weaknesses, and build a collaborative culture that is informed and responsive. Through brief case studies, literature review, and practical tools, he creates a manual for the student and professional alike to put into practice essential skills for any workplace.

  • ISBN : 3030564053
  • Pages : 289 pages

Download or read book CyberBRICS written by Luca Belli and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-04 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book stems from the CyberBRICS project, which is the first major attempt to produce a comparative analysis of Internet regulations in the BRICS countries – namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The project has three main objectives: 1) to map existing regulations; 2) to identify best practices; and 3) to develop policy recommendations in the various areas that compose cybersecurity governance, with a particular focus on the strategies adopted by the BRICS countries to date. Each study covers five essential dimensions of cybersecurity: data protection, consumer protection, cybercrime, the preservation of public order, and cyberdefense. The BRICS countries were selected not only for their size and growing economic and geopolitical relevance but also because, over the next decade, projected Internet growth is expected to occur predominantly in these countries. Consequently, the technology, policy and governance arrangements defined by the BRICS countries are likely to impact not only the 3.2 billion people living in them, but also the individuals and businesses that choose to utilize increasingly popular applications and services developed in BRICS countries according to BRICS standards. Researchers, regulators, start-up innovators and other Internet stakeholders will find this book a valuable guide to the inner workings of key cyber policies in this rapidly growing region.

Book The Cybersecurity Dilemma

Download or read book The Cybersecurity Dilemma written by Ben Buchanan and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do nations break into one another's most important computer networks? There is an obvious answer: to steal valuable information or to attack. But this isn't the full story. This book draws on often-overlooked documents leaked by Edward Snowden, real-world case studies of cyber operations, and policymaker perspectives to show that intruding into other countries' networks has enormous defensive value as well. Two nations, neither of which seeks to harm the other but neither of which trusts the other, will often find it prudent to launch intrusions. This general problem, in which a nation's means of securing itself threatens the security of others and risks escalating tension, is a bedrock concept in international relations and is called the 'security dilemma'. This book shows not only that the security dilemma applies to cyber operations, but also that the particular characteristics of the digital domain mean that the effects are deeply pronounced. The cybersecurity dilemma is both a vital concern of modern statecraft and a means of accessibly understanding the essential components of cyber operations.

Book Handbook of Research on Advancing Cybersecurity for Digital Transformation

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Advancing Cybersecurity for Digital Transformation written by Sandhu, Kamaljeet and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-06-18 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cybersecurity has been gaining serious attention and recently has become an important topic of concern for organizations, government institutions, and largely for people interacting with digital online systems. As many individual and organizational activities continue to grow and are conducted in the digital environment, new vulnerabilities have arisen which have led to cybersecurity threats. The nature, source, reasons, and sophistication for cyberattacks are not clearly known or understood, and many times invisible cyber attackers are never traced or can never be found. Cyberattacks can only be known once the attack and the destruction have already taken place long after the attackers have left. Cybersecurity for computer systems has increasingly become important because the government, military, corporate, financial, critical infrastructure, and medical organizations rely heavily on digital network systems, which process and store large volumes of data on computer devices that are exchanged on the internet, and they are vulnerable to “continuous” cyberattacks. As cybersecurity has become a global concern, it needs to be clearly understood, and innovative solutions are required. The Handbook of Research on Advancing Cybersecurity for Digital Transformation looks deeper into issues, problems, and innovative solutions and strategies that are linked to cybersecurity. This book will provide important knowledge that can impact the improvement of cybersecurity, which can add value in terms of innovation to solving cybersecurity threats. The chapters cover cybersecurity challenges, technologies, and solutions in the context of different industries and different types of threats. This book is ideal for cybersecurity researchers, professionals, scientists, scholars, and managers, as well as practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, academicians, and students interested in the latest advancements in cybersecurity for digital transformation.

Book The Politics of Cybersecurity in the Middle East

Download or read book The Politics of Cybersecurity in the Middle East written by James Shires and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-05-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cybersecurity is a complex and contested issue in international politics. By focusing on the 'great powers'--the US, the EU, Russia and China--studies in the field often fail to capture the specific politics of cybersecurity in the Middle East, especially in Egypt and the GCC states. For these countries, cybersecurity policies and practices are entangled with those of long-standing allies in the US and Europe, and are built on reciprocal flows of data, capital, technology and expertise. At the same time, these states have authoritarian systems of governance more reminiscent of Russia or China, including approaches to digital technologies centred on sovereignty and surveillance. This book is a pioneering examination of the politics of cybersecurity in the Middle East. Drawing on new interviews and original fieldwork, James Shires shows how the label of cybersecurity is repurposed by states, companies and other organisations to encompass a variety of concepts, including state conflict, targeted spyware, domestic information controls, and foreign interference through leaks and disinformation. These shifting meanings shape key technological systems as well as the social relations underpinning digital development. But however the term is interpreted, it is clear that cybersecurity is an integral aspect of the region's contemporary politics.

Book Routledge Handbook of International Cybersecurity

Download or read book Routledge Handbook of International Cybersecurity written by Eneken Tikk and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-01-28 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of International Cybersecurity examines the development and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) from the perspective of international peace and security. Acknowledging that the very notion of peace and security has become more complex, the volume seeks to determine which questions of cybersecurity are indeed of relevance for international peace and security and which, while requiring international attention, are simply issues of contemporary governance or development. The Handbook offers a variety of thematic, regional and disciplinary perspectives on the question of international cybersecurity, and the chapters contextualize cybersecurity in the broader contestation over the world order, international law, conflict, human rights, governance and development. The volume is split into four thematic sections: Concepts and frameworks; Challenges to secure and peaceful cyberspace; National and regional perspectives on cybersecurity; Global approaches to cybersecurity. This book will be of much interest to students of cybersecurity, computer science, sociology, international law, defence studies and International Relations in general. Chapter 30 of this book is freely available as a downloadable Open Access PDF at http://www.taylorfrancis.com under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.
