Book Curved Space the More Delicate Times

Download or read book Curved Space the More Delicate Times written by James P. Kain and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-10-07 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry is a journey into mysterious realms at the borders of reason and imagination. I am drawn by the misty places between worlds, between the public outer world of shared and common experience and the private inner world of personal vision and intimation. There I look for some uncommon but universal piece of the puzzle that joins our isolated souls. Somewhere beneath the surface, behind the faade, in the borderlands is a ribbon of truth, as elusive as it is essential. To get a glimpse of it I have to sleep with my eyes open, waken within the dream, believe nothing Ive been told, and walk the dark night with an expectation of miracles. With every breath I feel one coming on.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Description Coming to My Senses is a collection of old and new poems written over many years in many places. So it is a kind of anthology of my works to date. In putting it together I looked for common elements in order to group the poems, and found five directions that the poems take: Seeking Passage is about moving through changes in life, looking forward or backward and recognizing the need for change. Of Love and Loss is self explanatory poems responding to the heartache of love and memories gone. Diversions & Reflections are poems of response to the moment, creative outbursts responding to the moment. alludes to the sources of ideas and inspiration, and includes poems exploring the poets role and identity. Coming to my Senses is about finding my place in the here and now through the poetic experience. It is the summing up of my understanding that poetry is not an escape, a frill or a crutch, but a discovery of a deeper reality through giving attention to the sense of the moment. In The Preface I comment: Writing poems for me has always been an experiment, an extension of awareness, a searching into the internal life of emotion and thought. It has been a practice in reawakening the language by seeking novel ways to put words together, not just for the game of wordplay, but to refocus the mind by bringing attention to the words themselves and the things they point to to see them strangely new, to hear them create music through their rhythm and sound. To gently shake the reader awake, to see in front of them an image perhaps from a dream that may not make much sense, but there it is, in wonder and artistry. There is something still marvelous and meaningful in the world even in its uncertain and elusive presence; if this is not the stuff of poetry, I dont know what is. Poetry, for me then, is a search and a celebration, a revelation, not an explanation or a comment on the world, but rather a discovery of the inner life of thought and consciousness a coming to my senses and a reawakening of something with reverence. The poetic moment is a moment that begins and ends in the minds silence, and within that silence is a wide world of timeless utterances, subtle responses and the feeding roots of new ideas. The poetic moment is what ties philosophy to the real world, what demands religion from the questing soul, and what unveils the deeper values in an otherwise common and habitual world. These poems are records of some of these moments. They are meditations and reflections more than they are compositions. The form each poem takes arises from the moment that still point of the turning world from the attempt to dissolve the outer consciousness and reach a pure state of cognition, the origin of the question: What is it in this life that seeks for something more? There is something wistful in each attempt to find an answer, and though the answer is in the end a mystery we must not forget that moment of illumination in which we first discovered that mystery gives birth to imagination who, like a child, gleams at every new thing.

Book String Theory In Curved Space Times A Collaborative Research Report

Download or read book String Theory In Curved Space Times A Collaborative Research Report written by Normalized Sanchez and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-05-30 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main goal and impact of modern string theory is to provide a consistent quantum theory of gravity. This book provides an updated collection of original new developments and fundamental research in string theory in connection with gravity and physics at the Planck energy scale.Topics treated in this volume by pioneering researchers in the field include: classical and quantum string dynamics in strong gravitational fields, space-time singularities, black holes and cosmological backgrounds; particle and string scattering at the Planck energy scale; string cosmology and its observational consequences; the new features of multistrings and of quantum particle transmutation for strings in curved spacetimes. The book deals with (i) the several new methods developed to solve the highly nonlinear string dynamics in curved spactimes: approximative perturbative methods, asymptotic expansions, exact local expansions and exact global (over the whole world sheet) string solitonic solutions, (ii) the string energy momentum tensor and the equation of state for the string matter, the stretching of the string size in spacetimes with event horizons and near spacetime singularities, (iii) the canonical and semiclassical quantization of strings in curved spacetimes and the physical effects found for: the mass spectrum, structure of levels, scattering amplitudes, number operator and particle transmutation.

Book Magnetohydrodynamics Waves and Shock Waves in Curved Space Time

Download or read book Magnetohydrodynamics Waves and Shock Waves in Curved Space Time written by A. Lichnerowicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For seventy years, we have known that Einstein's theory is essentially a theory of propagation of waves for the gravitational field. Confusion enters, however, through the fact that the word wave, in physics, implies sometimes repetition and sometimes not. This confusion is often increased by he use of Fourier transforms, by which a disturbanse which appears to be without repetition is resolved into periodic wave-trains with all frequencies. But, in a general curved space-time, we have nothing corresponding to Fourier transforms. Here, we consider systematically waves corresponding to the propagation of discontinuities of physical quantities describing either fields (essentially electromagnetic fields and gravitational field), or the motion of a fluid, or together, in magnetohydrodynamics, the changes in time of a field and of a fluid. The main equations, for the different studied phenomena, constitute a hyperbolic system and the study of a formal Cauchy problem is possible. We call ordinary waves the case in which the derivative of superior order appearing in the system are discontinuous at the traverse of a hypersurface, the wave front ; we call shock waves the case where the derivatives of an order inferior by one are discontinuous at the traverse of a wave front. XI xii PREFACE From 1950, many well-known scientits (Taub, Synge, Choquet-B ruhat, etc.) have studied the corresponding equations for different physical phenomena : systems associated to the electromagnetic and gravitational fields, to hydrodynamics and to magnetohydrodynamics.

Book excerpt: "God's Physics": A New Science Transforming the World & Our Life Science is currently undergoing a profound "Paradigmatic-Shift" from the Old "Material-Causal" Paradigm of 20th Century's Relativity Theory and Quantum Mechanics to the New "God's Physics" Paradigm: Succinctly stated, 'God's Physics' replaces our old way of looking at the world as created by a "random Big-Bang" nuclear explosion towards an exciting new realization that our entire physical universe, our bodies and minds, and our total physical and human existence are all being continuously created by a singular higher "Universal Consciousness Reality" – 'God'! Yes, according to this New 'God's Physics' Paradigm there exists a singular higher 'Universal Consciousness Reality' which "produces", "remembers", "sustains" and "evolves" every small "pixel" in our entire physical universe – including our own body and mind, helps and encourages us to lead a moral, purposeful and meaningful life! Indeed, according to this New 'God's Physics' understanding of the world, everything in our universe, e.g., from the tiniest cells in our bodies, every atom in the universe, every rock, plant, animal or human being – are all being produced and re-produced a "billion-billion-billion" times (per second!) by this singular higher 'Universal Consciousness Reality' (UCR), i.e., 'God'! Indeed, this profound new scientific discovery comes along with the realization that this singular higher 'Universal Consciousness Reality' cares about our own 'moral-choices', evolves every small 'pixel' in the universe as well as us as (intelligent conscious) human beings towards leading a Moral, Spiritual Existence within an "awakened" New Morally and Spiritually Perfected World! Therefore, the discovery of this new (exciting) "God's Physics" not only resolves the biggest unresolved "Scientific Enigma" that Einstein was working on for half of his illustrious scientific career – but also completely transf

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Playing with Words is a double-concept album with four sides of an interrelated theme. The acoustic side explores the ways words add layers to our experiences. The electric side reveals the tensions between words and their meanings, especially when the words strike out on their own and the connection between the writer and the word breaks down. In the third side, the writer disappears. The fourth side is a return to the cosmos through myth, history, mystery, and spirit. Sometimes it might seem audacious, but its mostly just playing with words.

Book Black Holes Time Warps Einstein s Outrageous Legacy Commonwealth Fund Book Program

Download or read book Black Holes Time Warps Einstein s Outrageous Legacy Commonwealth Fund Book Program written by Kip Thorne and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 1995-01-17 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics Ever since Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity burst upon the world in 1915 some of the most brilliant minds of our century have sought to decipher the mysteries bequeathed by that theory, a legacy so unthinkable in some respects that even Einstein himself rejected them. Which of these bizarre phenomena, if any, can really exist in our universe? Black holes, down which anything can fall but from which nothing can return; wormholes, short spacewarps connecting regions of the cosmos; singularities, where space and time are so violently warped that time ceases to exist and space becomes a kind of foam; gravitational waves, which carry symphonic accounts of collisions of black holes billions of years ago; and time machines, for traveling backward and forward in time. Kip Thorne, along with fellow theorists Stephen Hawking and Roger Penrose, a cadre of Russians, and earlier scientists such as Oppenheimer, Wheeler and Chandrasekhar, has been in the thick of the quest to secure answers. In this masterfully written and brilliantly informed work of scientific history and explanation, Dr. Thorne, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and the Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics Emeritus at Caltech, leads his readers through an elegant, always human, tapestry of interlocking themes, coming finally to a uniquely informed answer to the great question: what principles control our universe and why do physicists think they know the things they think they know? Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time has been one of the greatest best-sellers in publishing history. Anyone who struggled with that book will find here a more slowly paced but equally mind-stretching experience, with the added fascination of a rich historical and human component. Winner of the Phi Beta Kappa Award in Science.

Book excerpt: "But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for when you eat of it, you will surely die" (Gen. 2:17). Why would God put that troublesome tree in the Garden of Eden? He must have known the childlike Adam and Eve would give in to temptation, especially with that old serpent slithering around. Maybe that was the divine plan from the start for what would be the most interesting saga: an endless summer of Adam and family playing with docile lions and feasting on low-hanging fruit or a tortuous slog through centuries that eventually lifted humanity from hunter-gatherers to astronauts. This little book attempts to offer an alternate view of Satan in which he was not only a vengeful rebel against the cosmic divine will but unwittingly served as the restless, malcontented spark that ignited much of human progress through the ages.
