Book excerpt: Con este libro se intenta ofrecer en una sola obra un compendio teórico sobre protección de sistemas eléctricos de potencia y, al mismo tiempo, una extensa colección de problemas tanto propuestos como resueltos, referentes al cálculo de cortocircuitos, sobrecargas o derivaciones a tierra en las redes eléctricas. El primer módulo está formado por dos capítulos y tiene por objetivo el estudio de los sistemas de potencia trabajando en situaciones anómalas. En el primer capítulo se realiza un estudio de los cortocircuitos, con sus efectos térmicos y dinámicos, y los sistemas para limitar sus corrientes de falta, calculando las corrientes de cortocircuito mediante la norma VDE 0102. Por su parte, el segundo capítulo trata de los fallos eléctricos simétricos o asimétricos mediante el método de las redes de secuencia y las componentes simétricas. El segundo módulo está dedicado a la resolución de problemas y se estructura en dos capítulos bien diferenciados. El primer capítulo ofrece una colección de problemas completamente resueltos y comentados sobre el cálculo de los diversos tipos de fallos que pueden afectar a un sistema de potencia, mientras que el segundo capítulo, formado por 20 enunciados de problemas, con sus respectivas soluciones, permite consolidar los conocimientos adquiridos.
