Book CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Download or read book CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT written by V. Ravi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-11-25 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Education is concerned with the transmission of knowledge. It is always a deliberate attempt to modify the individual for the better or in terms of what is thought to be desirable. It would be a bad mistake, however, to view this knowledge only in terms of curriculum content; because education transmits other knowledge as well. But it would seem fair to claim that education aims to overcome ignorance. He would also appear that education advocates the principle that it is better to have knowledge than to be ignorant. In other words it is better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied. It is argued that the modern defective curriculum content creates satisfied pigs and increases-ignorance than to overcome it. Therefore, Helvetius states that "Children are born ignorant, not stupid." It is education that makes them stupid. So far as defective curriculum is concerned he is essentially correct.

Book The Role of Evaluators in Curriculum Development

Download or read book The Role of Evaluators in Curriculum Development written by Pinchas Tamir and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1985. This is an overview of the evolution of curriculum evaluation since the reforms of the 1960s, presented through the personal and practical knowledge of experienced individuals, rather than abstract theoretical models which hitherto dominated the field. A collection of personal retrospective accounts, by leading evaluators, of their roles in the actual process of curriculum development, the chapters represent diverse educational systems in a range of countries including Australia, Israel, England and the USA. A variety of innovative curricula are portrayed and the models which emerge are empirically based. Their diversity provides evidence for the need to accommodate and adjust theoretical and methodological principles to real situations. This is a great reference for those with an interest in comparative curriculum development.
