Download or read book Global Bioethanol written by Sergio Luiz Monteiro Salles-Filho and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Bioethanol: Evolution, Risks, and Uncertainties explores the conceptual and methodological approaches for the understanding of bioethanol technologies, policies and future perspectives. After a decade of huge investments made by big companies and governments all around the world, it is time to talk about the real conditions in which bioethanol will (or will not) evolve. Uncertainties and certainties are discussed and addressed to understand the futures of global bioethanol. The book analyses the evolution of bioethanol in the world’s energy mix under technological, economic and commercial perspectives. It gives particular emphasis on the innovative trajectories of second-generation ethanol and their potential in different countries and regions. Future scenarios are proposed in order to evaluate the possible outcomes of ethanol in a global perspective. For providing a thorough overview of the bioethanol sector from different points of view, this book is a very useful resource for all involved with biofuels in general and bioethanol in particular, including energy engineers, researchers, consultants, analysts and policy makers. Presents a thorough examination of the uncertainties surrounding bioethanol in the future global energy mix Provides a data-driven and updated picture on the technological, economic, and market trends and scenarios for bioethanol Offers a foresight analysis on the perspectives of bioethanol as a global commodity Includes a prospective about who is going to lead the new trajectories in the global arena

Book The US and its rising Ethanol Production

Download or read book The US and its rising Ethanol Production written by Philip Elsen and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2009-11-10 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientific Study from the year 2007 in the subject Politics - Region: USA, The University of Sydney (Faculty of International Relations), language: English, abstract: The US and its rising Ethanol Production Abstract: In the 2007 State of the Union address,1 US President Bush called on the country to produce 35 billion gallons of biofuel a year by 2017. President Bush’s proposal to increase biofuel production will dramatically increase the volume of corn required by the US ethanol industry and will translate into higher prices for both processed and stable foods around the world. Consequently, corn-based ethanol will continue to tie oil and food prices together in ways that will profoundly upset the relationship between food producers and consumers, with potentially devastating implications for global poverty. In addition, it will only replace a small percentage of US fuel consumption. ANALYSIS: 1. The US Ethanol Market 2. Impacts for the US and world Agriculture 3. Increased US corn (food) prices and its effects 4. US Ethanol production- dependence oil and environmental benefits 5. Conclusion

Book Ethanol Market Concentration

Download or read book Ethanol Market Concentration written by Federal Trade Comm. and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011-06 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report on the state of U.S. ethanol production shows that the market for ethanol fuel in the U.S. is still un-concentrated, with 160 firms nationwide either producing ethanol or likely to be in production within the next 18 months. It concludes that as of September 2010, there were the same number of ethanol producers in the U.S. as were listed in the 2009 report. The largest ethanol producer's share of capacity increased slightly to 12% of domestic ethanol production capacity - above the 11% share in 2008 and 2009, but still below the largest producer's capacity share, between 2000 and 2007, which ranged from 16% in 2007 to 41% in 2000. Book Ethanol Expansion in the United States

Download or read book Ethanol Expansion in the United States written by Paul C. Westcott and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large expansion in ethanol production is underway in the United States. Cellulosic sources of feedstocks for ethanol production hold some promise for the future, but the primary feedstock in the United States currently is corn. Market adjustments to this increased demand extend well beyond the corn sector to supply and demand for othercrops, such as soybeans and cotton, as well as to the livestock industries. USDA¿s long-term projections, augmented by farmers¿ planting intentions for 2007, are used to illustrate anticipated changes in the agricultural sector. Graphs.

Book Renewable Fuel Standard

Download or read book Renewable Fuel Standard written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2012-01-29 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the United States, we have come to depend on plentiful and inexpensive energy to support our economy and lifestyles. In recent years, many questions have been raised regarding the sustainability of our current pattern of high consumption of nonrenewable energy and its environmental consequences. Further, because the United States imports about 55 percent of the nation's consumption of crude oil, there are additional concerns about the security of supply. Hence, efforts are being made to find alternatives to our current pathway, including greater energy efficiency and use of energy sources that could lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions such as nuclear and renewable sources, including solar, wind, geothermal, and biofuels. The United States has a long history with biofuels and the nation is on a course charted to achieve a substantial increase in biofuels. Renewable Fuel Standard evaluates the economic and environmental consequences of increasing biofuels production as a result of Renewable Fuels Standard, as amended by EISA (RFS2). The report describes biofuels produced in 2010 and those projected to be produced and consumed by 2022, reviews model projections and other estimates of the relative impact on the prices of land, and discusses the potential environmental harm and benefits of biofuels production and the barriers to achieving the RFS2 consumption mandate. Policy makers, investors, leaders in the transportation sector, and others with concerns for the environment, economy, and energy security can rely on the recommendations provided in this report.
