This book was released on 2002 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes observations & structural data collected in the area of the Walker Lake shear zone in the Committee Bay supracrustal belt, central Nunavut. It first reviews the general geology of the metasedimentary & volcanic rocks of the Prince Albert group and the intrusive rocks (tonalite, granite) which were observed in the shear zone. It then describes the three generations of ductile structures that were identified in proximity to the shear zone, and offers some preliminary interpretations regarding the relationship of the shear zone to regional deformation.

Book Geological Survey of Canada Current Research Online no 2000 C1

Download or read book Geological Survey of Canada Current Research Online no 2000 C1 written by Sunil S. Gandhi and published by Natural Resources Canada. This book was released on 2000 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A distinctive group of giant quartz veins characterizes the Great Bear magmatic zone east of Great Bear Lake, Northwest Territories. They are topographically conspicuous, have attracted attention from mineral prospectors, and contain occurrences of uranium, copper sulphides, and other minerals. This paper presents results of the first study of fluid inclusions from giant quartz veins in this zone. Samples were studied from the Crowfoot and Ted uranium occurrences. It begins with descriptions of the regional geological setting, the quartz veins and associated stockworks, and the two occurrences studied. It then describes the fluid inclusion study methodology, petrographic observations, and temperature & salinity determinations of the fluid inclusion samples. The results are discussed with respect to the multi-stage developmental history of the quartz veins.

De Kemp and published by Natural Resources Canada. This book was released on 2002 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basal surface of the Bravo Lake Formation, central Baffin Island, represents a rapid, conformable transition from iron-enriched marine deposition to near-basin margin shallow marine volcanism. This report presents results of detailed structural, stratigraphic, & three-dimensional mapping of this basal surface in an area south-west of Nadluardjuk Lake. It includes information on the general geology of the area, stratigraphy, characteristics of exposed rocks, and structural geology.

Book International Trade and Transportation Infrastructure Development

Download or read book International Trade and Transportation Infrastructure Development written by Juan Carlos Villa and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-05-08 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Trade and Transportation Infrastructure Development: Experiences in North America and Europe examines the impact of trade agreements, such as the North American Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the European Union Customs Union, and their relationship to transportation systems and infrastructure in member countries. It analyzes historical trade by mode, evaluating modal shifts due to trade policy and disputes, and their implications for all involved nations. This book also examines both supply and demand trends, reviewing transportation processes, and the stakeholders involved. Capacity development, funding mechanisms, and operational characteristics of each mode are detailed in relation to the policies that influence them. The book reviews recent trends and the impact of disruptive technologies, as well as future potential regulatory changes, with relation to upcoming infrastructure plans, project funding, and operations. This book is an ideal reference for transportation practitioners involved in planning, feasibility studies, consultation and policy for international transportation systems or infrastructure. Academic researchers and graduate students in transportation planning, international relations, and trade will also find this book useful. Compiles in one source up-to-date insights on important public transport themes, issues, and debates Examines a wide range of public transport topics in the multidisciplinary fields of economics, policy, operations, and planning Bridges the gap between scientific research and policy implementation

This book was released on 2002 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Formation resistivity factor and pore-surface resistivity values were determined for three mineralized & nonmineralized rock samples from the Giant mine & Con mine areas of the Yellowknife mining district. The purpose was to provide basic information required to understand the electrical conductivity mechanisms of these rocks and to aid interpretation of geophysical surveys conducted in these areas. This paper describes the methods & processes used to obtain the formation factor data & to document the results for use in future studies.

Book Developments in Geophysical Exploration Methods 3

Download or read book Developments in Geophysical Exploration Methods 3 written by A.A. Fitch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the themes in current geophysical development is the bringing together of the results of observations made on the surface and those made in the subsurface. Several benefits result from this association. The detailed geological knowledge obtained in the subsurface can be extrapolated for short distances with more confidence when the geologi cal detail has been related to well-integrated subsurface and surface geophysical data. This is of value when assessing the characteristics of a partially developed petroleum reservoir. Interpretation of geophysical data is generally improved by the experience of seeing the surface and subsurface geophysical expression of a known geological configuration. On the theoretical side, the understanding of the geophysical processes themselves is furthered by the study of the phenomena in depth. As an example, the study of the progress of seismic wave trains downwards and upwards within the earth has proved most instructive. This set of original papers deals with some of the more vigorous developments in subsurface geophysics: and it is hoped that it will contribute to the understanding of geophysical phenomena in the solid. The editor thanks the busy workers in the several fields who have made time to produce these contributions.
