This book was released on 2017-04-21 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Correspondent banking relationships (CBRs), which facilitate global trade and economic activity, have been under pressure in several countries. So far, cross-border payments have remained stable and economic activity has been largely unaffected, despite a recent slight decrease in the number of CBRs. However, in a limited number of countries, financial fragilities have been accentuated as their cross-border flows are concentrated through fewer CBRs or maintained through alternative arrangements. These fragilities could undermine affected countries’ long-run growth and financial inclusion prospects by increasing costs of financial services and negatively affecting bank ratings.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authoritative history of the Treasury provides a new perspective on public policy-making in the twentieth century as it explores the role and functions of the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the consequent implications for the changing role of the Treasury. As the central department in British government, the Treasury plays a key role in decisions on public expenditure, and on raising taxes and loans. Professor Peden traces the development of the Treasury's responsibility for managing the national economy and looks at how it became increasingly involved in international relations from the time of the First World War. In further examining the relations between ministers and their official advisers, this history explores the growing influence of economists in Whitehall.

Book Cryptocurrency and Public Policy

Download or read book Cryptocurrency and Public Policy written by Donavon Johnson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-11-04 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proponents of cryptocurrency have argued it has the potential to drive economic prosperity and to help reimagine social benefits in many spaces across the world. However, as the knowledge and use of cryptocurrency increases, so do questions about trust, identity, privacy, and security. This new book connects the literature on public policy and cryptocurrency, asking: What are the governance and democracy implications of the rise in cryptocurrency use? Beginning with a conceptual overview of cryptocurrency and how governmental actions (or inaction) led to its creation, author Donovan Johnson argues that symbiotic relationships can and do exist among cryptocurrency, democracy, and governance in the public policy/administration domain. Principles such as equity and inclusion, efficiency and effectiveness, accountability, and quality of life are explored as conduits through which cryptocurrency interfaces with public policy, democracy, and good governance. This informative and insightful book covers a range of public policy and public administration issues, offering readers an understanding of how cryptocurrency intersects with democracy, governance, fiscal and monetary policies, economic growth, corruption, and privacy. Cryptocurrency and Public Policy will be of interest to students and scholars of public policy and administration, finance, economics, and business.

Book Airport Regulation Law and Public Policy

Download or read book Airport Regulation Law and Public Policy written by Robert M. Hardaway and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1991-07-19 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dramatic rise in air traffic, together with rapid residential and commercial development around our metropolitan areas, has strained the capacity of airports to serve the public safely and efficiently. Hardaway's book explores this problem in depth. Drawing on both the hands-on expertise of professionals in the field and a thorough grounding in law and public policy, it looks at the laws governing airport development and addresses the complex regulatory and policy issues surrounding the construction, expansion, and operation of airports. Beginning with a review of airport regulation from 1903 onward, Hardaway examines aspects of regulatory power, including federal and local authority, local proprietorship, and citizens' concerns. Chapters on airport planning, financing, and operation have been contributed by experts with practical experience in these fields. The question of civil rights in employment and marketplace competition is also considered. Other topics addressed are local, state, and federal regulation of noise; responses to the terrorist threat; the airport as a public forum for free speech and the exercise of religion; the economics of regulation; and the impact of anti-trust legislation. Offering constructive proposals for policy development as well as detailed analysis of current problems, this book will be appropriate reading for students, educators, and professionals concerned with air transportation development, management, policy, and law.
