Book New Trends in Cerebral Aneurysm Management

Download or read book New Trends in Cerebral Aneurysm Management written by Yasuhiro Yonekawa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The management of cerebral aneurysms is still the subject of controversy in spite of recent dramatic advances in surgical techniques and neuro-intensive care. Currently, two main topics in this field have totally different aspects: 1. the management of unruptured cerebral aneurysms as a preventive medicine and 2. neurocrutical management of severe subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) after the rupture. These topics were discussed during the Swiss-Japanese Joint Conference in Zurich, Switzerland, in May 2001. Selected papers from this meeting are included in this volume presenting new clinical experiences in order to find out updated and proper ways to focus the treatment and providing updated information on neurocritical care aspects as well as endovascular and surgical treatment modalities carried out in daily practice in Zurich and Japan.

Written by leading international experts, it highlights the state-of-the-art techniques for the diagnosis and treatment (non-surgical and surgical) of SAH and the clinical variations. It also examines the reliability of the new techniques versus the standard clinical methods to predict problems related to SAH and its recent diagnosis and management. The book starts with a brief discussion of the epidemiology of SAH, cerebral circulation, anatomy of brain blood vessels and neurophysiology related to this fatal disease. Then, in the following chapters it covers grading of subarachnoid hemorrhage, anesthesia management of SAH, treatment, subarachnoid hemorrhage coiling and radiological intervention. Lastly, it explores surgical treatment of intracranial aneurysms in more detail, and addresses complications, critical care management and headache in SAH, traumatic SAH and prognosis. Featuring numerous images, tables, schema, illustrations and videos, the book is intended for junior and senior anesthesiologists, neuroscientists, intervention radiologists, intensivists and neurosurgeons.

Book Flow Diversion of Cerebral Aneurysms

Download or read book Flow Diversion of Cerebral Aneurysms written by Min S. Park and published by Thieme. This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminal resource on state-of-the-art flow diversion techniques from leading neurointerventional experts From detachable balloons and GDC coils to the recent advent of flow diversion, practitioners of endovascular neurosurgery have been fortunate to work in an era of rapid and exciting advances. The first commercially available flow diverter in the U.S. was approved specifically for a small subset of cerebral aneurysms. Recent experience has demonstrated its utility in treating challenging or otherwise untreatable aneurysms, safely and efficaciously. The design of these devices requires learning radically different methods than those used in the deployment of other, non-braided stents. Flow Diversion of Cerebral Aneurysms by Min Park, Philipp Taussky, Felipe Albuquerque, and Cameron McDougall provides step-by-step guidance on utilization of flow diversion technology in clinical practice. Reflecting the combined experience and knowledge of pioneers in neurointerventional surgery, this comprehensive book fills a gap in available resources. Twenty-one chapters cover fundamentals to advanced concepts – historical perspective to future developments. Key Features More than 100 high quality graphics and illustrative case studies reinforce key concepts Techniques and nuances of Pipeline, Silk (Balt Extrusion), Surpass Streamline, and Flow-Redirection Endoluminal Device (FRED) deployment An overview of current flow diversion devices, discussion of coil embolization versus flow diversion, off-label uses, adjuvant approaches, and hemodynamic modifications Pharmacology, flow diversion grading scales, and post-procedure radiographic imaging Clinical pearls on ruptured aneurysms, intraprocedural/postprocedural complications, and management of aneurysm residuals The ultimate goal of incorporating cutting-edge flow diversion techniques into the aneurysm treatment paradigm is improved efficacy and patient outcome. The knowledge gleaned from this outstanding resource will help residents and fellows learn to deploy flow diverters for the first time and enable seasoned clinicians to expand their neurointerventional radiology skills.
