Book Meralgia Paresthetica

Download or read book Meralgia Paresthetica written by Patrick Marshwell and published by No Fluff Publishing . This book was released on 2022-09-27 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large nerve that travels from the lower back to the legs is called the femoral nerve. It gives the front and center of the thigh, as well as much of the lower leg and foot, the ability to feel and move. The sensation of touch is carried to the skin on the outside aspect of the thigh by a branch of the femoral nerve known as the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN). The LFCN descends from the upper buttock, through the hip, and into the thigh, beginning at the posterior aspect of the thigh. Meralgia paresthetica, also known as Bernhardt-Roth syndrome, is a condition in which the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve is damaged or put under too much pressure, resulting in numbness, pain, or a burning sensation on the outer thigh. This condition can also be referred to as the Bernhardt-Roth syndrome. The majority of the time, meralgia paresthetica may be addressed with straightforward adjustments to one's lifestyle, such as switching to clothes with a looser fit. On the other hand, medicine or surgery could be necessary for certain patients who have more severe cases of meralgia paresthetica. If you are having any of these symptoms, you need to make an appointment with a medical professional as soon as possible so that they can recommend the therapy that will be most effective for you. In this beginner's start guide, we'll cover the following topics: What causes meralgia paresthetica? What are the symptoms of meralgia paresthetica? Who is at risk to get meralgia paresthetica? How is meralgia paresthetica diagnosed? What are the medical treatments for meralgia paresthetica? How to prevent meralgia paresthetica? How to manage meralgia paresthetica through natural methods? How to manage meralgia paresthetica through diet? As you read this guide, we hope that you will find the material to be useful in comprehending what meralgia paresthetica is, its causes and risk factors, as well as how the illness may be managed by nutrition, and that you will also find out how to treat the condition with diet. Let's get started!

Book excerpt: Abstract: The prevalence of meralgia paresthetica (MP), which is caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN), has been increasing over recent decades. Since guidelines and large-scale studies are lacking, there are substantial regional differences in diagnostics and management in MP care. Our study aims to report on current diagnostic and therapeutic strategies as well as time trends in clinical MP management in Germany. Patients hospitalized in Germany between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2018, with MP as their primary diagnosis were identified using the International Classification of Disease (ICD-10) code G57.1 and standardized operations and procedures codes (OPS). A total of 5828 patients with MP were included. The rate of imaging studies increased from 44% in 2005 to 79% in 2018 (p

Book Textbook of Orthopaedics

Download or read book Textbook of Orthopaedics written by John Ebnezar and published by Anshan Pub. This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of orthopaedics and fractures is hugely important to every undergraduate medical student, and it is difficult finding the right textbook that will give them a sufficient level of knowledge and help them through their examinations. "Textbook of Orthopaedics" is just such a book, giving more than enough information, while at the same time focussing on the main goal - passing the orthopaedics exam. The book is divided into 8 sections, which deal with the obligatory, standard areas of study, such as general orthopaedics, regional injuries, and both traumatic and non-traumatic disorders. But there are also innovative sections which discuss amputations, prosthetics, sports medicine, arthroplasty and arthroscopy, and the final section of appendices gives information about orthopaedic implants and instrumentation in common use, as well as tips and hints for practical exam sessions. The book is very "student friendly" with numerous excellent pedagogical features - diagrams, end of chapter summaries, flow charts, mnemonics, differential shading of tables and columns, anecdotes, jokes, and historical references. X-rays are found at the end of each chapter and there is also a focus on back ache, a very common orthopaedic problem often neglected by other textbooks. In short "Textbook of Orthopaedics" is an exam-oriented textbook designed and written specifically for medical undergraduates.
