Book excerpt: Excerpt from Cumorah's Southern Messenger, Vol. 10: 20th February, 1936 Worship is using the faith-faculty to find eternal truth. And this faculty like every other, grows by use. Deep thought about the marvellous ways of God, and earnest invocations sent up to his throne more than anything else intensifies the fever of that divine faith which alone gives unity and divine perspective to life by linking to-morrow and to-morrow's to morrow with to-day. Just as surely as e n e r g e ti c work develops physical strength, so certainly does deep, genuine, earn-est striving of the soul for union with the divine increase that faith in God which is the greatest asset in life. Book Cumorah s Southern Messenger Vol 10

Download or read book Cumorah s Southern Messenger Vol 10 written by Church of Jesus Christ and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Cumorah's Southern Messenger, Vol. 10: 20th July, 1936 He said that they (joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer and Martin Harris) were out in the primitive woods in Western New York; that there was nothing between them and the Angel ex cept a log that had fallen in the forest; that it was in the broad daylight with nothing to prevent either hearing or see ing all that took place. He then repeated to me that he did see and handle the plates; that he did see and hear the Angel and heard the declaration that the plates had been correctly translated; that there was absolutely nothing to prevent his having a full, clear view of it all. I remember very distinctly asking him if there was anything unnatural or unusual about the surroundings or the atmos phere. He answered that question. I do not remember exactly the words he used, but he indicated that there was something of a haze or peculiarity about the atmosphere that surrounded them but nothing that would prevent his having a clear vision and knowledge of all that took place. He declared to me that the testimony which he had published to the world was true and that he had never denied any part of it. I asked him why he had left the Church. He replied that he had never left the Church, that he had continued with the branch of the Church that was originally organized in Richmond and still presided over it. In answer to my questions, he said, in an unqualified, emphatic way, that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. This book was released on 2017-02-19 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Cumorah's Southern Messenger, Vol. 9: February, 1935 For six years we have longed and still long to be with our loved ones in Utah, yet that longing does not affect us as this departure does. Sighs and cries and waking moments during the small hours of the night, with weeping thoughts most all the time have characterised our lives since notice of our pending release was received in December. It is awfully hard to leave you and the missionary work. We just want to con tinue in your love and kind thoughts and prayers, and even though we go far from you we want you to think of us and we assure you our thoughts will be with you. You will linger in our lives as loved friends and we cannot forget you, for you have all been sweet and good and kind to us, for which we gratefully thank you. If we have hurt you in any way, please forgive us and do believe' that our attempts in our appointed callings have been to help the flowers to grow. It has been a great honour and distinct delight to work with the fifty noble missionaries who have laboured in this mission during our sojourn and their names will always be revered by us. They are the ones who have done the hard work and we are so thankful to have had their close association and congenial co-operation. They have added to our lives many sweet things and we have partaken of their beautiful spirits as one hungry at a feast. They have given us love unfeigned. This book was released on 2018-01-12 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Cumorah's Southern Messenger, Vol. 8: March 20, 1934 Twenty years ago cancer stood eighth in the death rate; to-day it is second. It sounds incredible, but nevertheless it is true. If everybody in this world of ours were six feet tall and a foot and a half wide and a foot thick (and that is making people a little bigger than they. Usually are), then the whole of the human race (and according to the latest available statistics there are now nearly descendants of the original Homo Sapions and his wife) could be packed into a box measuring half a mile in each direction That, as I just said, sounds incredible, but if you don't believe me, figure it out for yourself and you will find it to be correct.
