Book Hydraulic Loss Coefficients for Culverts

Download or read book Hydraulic Loss Coefficients for Culverts written by Blake P. Tullis and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2012 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research in the area of culvert hydraulics has centered on concrete box culverts and circular corrugated metal pipe culverts. The hydraulic analyses of these culvert types have been well defined for conventional installations, but not for environmentally sensitive and nontraditional culverts. It is desirable to design and construct some culvert crossings to minimize their impact on the natural environment. Culverts are now being designed to maintain natural velocities and minimize turbulence to allow migratory species to pass through the culvert barrel. Such designs may add baffles on the invert, bury the culvert invert, or use bottomless culverts to provide for a natural stream invert. Other designs use larger and wider culverts to reduce the amount of contraction and acceleration.

Download or read book Hydraulics of Open Channel Flow written by Hubert Chanson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-05-25 with total page 651 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of its first edition in 1999, 'The Hydraulics of Open Channel Flow' has been praised by professionals, academics, students and researchers alike as the most practical modern textbook on open channel flow available. This new edition includes substantial new material on hydraulic modelling, in particular addressing unsteady open channel flows. There are also many new exercises and projects, including a major new revision assignment. This innovative textbook contains numerous examples and practical applications, and is fully illustrated with photographs. Dr Chanson introduces the basic principles of open channel flow and takes readers through the key topics of sediment transport, hydraulic modelling and the design of hydraulic structures. Comprehensive coverage of the basic principles of key application areas of the hydraulics of open channel flow New exercises and examples added to aid understanding Ideal for use by students and lecturers in civil and environmental engineering

Book Hydraulic Design of Highway Culverts 3rd Edition

Download or read book Hydraulic Design of Highway Culverts 3rd Edition written by U S Department of Transportation and published by . This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydraulic Design Series Number 5 (HDS 5) originally merged culvert design information contained in Hydraulic Engineering Circulars (HEC) 5, 10, and 13 with other related hydrologic, storage routing and special culvert design information. This third edition is the first major rewrite of HDS 5 since 1985, updating all previous information and adding new information on software solutions, aquatic organism passage, culvert assessment, and culvert repair and rehabilitation. The result is a comprehensive culvert design publication. The appendices of the publication contain the equations and methodology used in developing the design charts (nomographs) and software programs, information on hydraulic resistance of culverts, the commonly used design charts, and Design Guidelines (DG) illustrating various culvert design calculation procedures. The number of design charts provided has been reduced recognizing the increased use of software solutions...
