Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Cuadernos de Dise o 4 Dise o de procesos written by Francisco Jarauta and published by IED Madrid. This book was released on 2014-05-26 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Cuadernos de Dise o 1 Pensar proyectar el futuro written by Santiago Miranda and published by IED Madrid. This book was released on 2013-06-21 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. AUTORES: Francisco Jarauta (ed.), Santiago Miranda, Ramón Benedito, Juli Capella, Carmelo Di Bartolo, Roberto Montanari, Aldo Colonetti, Marc Augé, Ezio Manzini, Daniel Giralt-Miracle, Manuel Gausa y Alan Neumarkt.

Book Cuadernos de Dise o 3 Dise o innovaci n empresa

Download or read book Cuadernos de Dise o 3 Dise o innovaci n empresa written by Perry King and published by IED Madrid. This book was released on 2013-06-21 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. AUTORES: Francisco Jarauta (ed.), Perry King, Santiago Miranda, Montse Cuesta, Ezio Manzini, Javier Romero, Lorenzo Fluxá, Andrea Branzi, Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Joan Costa, Carlos Barrabés, Enric Ruiz-Geli y George M. Beylerian.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design and Science addresses the inter-relationship, in both historical and contemporary contexts, between design thinking and design processes and scientific and medical research methods. Contributors address the parallels between research methodologies in design and the sciences, both of which involve the recognition of an issue, conceptualisation of ways to resolve it, and then the modelling and implementation of a viable solution. Much research across various scientific disciplines follows a similar pattern. Thematic sections explore visualisation, visual narrative and visual metaphor; biodesign and biomimicry; makers and users in design and science, and data visualisation, discussing the role of data from nature as an ultimate source of design.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A 2022 Choice Reviews Outstanding Academic Title What ends should designers pursue? To what extent should they care about the societal and environmental impact of their work? And why should they care at all? Given the key influence design has on the way people live their lives, designing is fraught with ethical issues. Yet, unlike education or nursing, it lacks widespread professional principles for addressing these issues. Rooted in a communitarian view of design practice, this lively and accessible book examines design through the lens of professions, offering a critical vision that enables practitioners, academics and students of design in all disciplines to reflect on the practice’s overarching purposes. Considering how these are connected to others' flourishing and moulded by community interactions, "The Goods of Design" argues for a practice-based approach to cultivate professional ethics; it provides a normative direction that can meaningfully guide professional design activity, both individually and collectively. The volume also looks into the implications work has for the designer's self-growth as a person, offering ways to discover and navigate the complex tensions between personal and professional life.

Download or read book Mario Lavista written by Ana R. Alonso-Minutti and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Composer, pianist, editor, writer, and pedagogue Mario Lavista (1943-2021) was a central figure of the cultural and artistic scene in Mexico and one of the leading Ibero-American composers of his generation. His music is often described as evocative and poetic, noted for his meticulous attention to timbre and motivic permutation, and his creative trajectory was characterized by its intersections with the other arts, particularly poetry and painting. Lavista was a relational composer; he did not write music as a private enterprise but for and alongside people with whom he established close relations. Understanding analysis as an affective practice, author Ana R. Alonso-Minutti explores the intertextual connections between the multiple texts--musical or otherwise--that are present in Lavista's music. Alonso-Minutti argues that, through adopting an interdisciplinary and transhistorical approach to music composition, Lavista forged a cosmopolitan imaginary that challenged stereotypes of what Mexican music should sound like. This imaginary becomes a strategy of resistance against imperialist agendas placed upon postcolonial peripheries. Departing from traditional biographical and chronological frameworks that exalt masters and masterworks, the author offers a nuanced, personal narrative informed by conversations with composers, performers, artists, choreographers, poets, writers, and filmmakers. Through an innovative mosaic of methodologies, from archival work, to musical and intertextual analysis, oral history, and (auto)ethnography, this book is the first in-depth study of Lavista's compositional career and offers a contextual panorama of the contemporary music scene in Mexico

Book Design for the Unthinkable World

Download or read book Design for the Unthinkable World written by Craig Bremner and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-02-13 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited book contests that if design’s raison d'être is to make things better, then the object of design has always been, remains and can only be a changed world and our relationship to it – the world-for-us. Each chapter was written by carefully selected researchers and practitioners who span geographical, disciplinary, and methodological boundaries in their work. Contributors skilfully examine the case that, while this once might have been seen to be a worthy objective (how else to effect a preferred state and/or pursue the project for the better world?), now the role of designing must cease to service design for change in the manner in which it has been doing. Chapters explore how designing itself might change to explore the possibilities that might exist for the design of what-might-not-become in an unthinkable-world; what Eugene Thacker calls a world-without-us. This world-without-us does not mean a world devoid of humans or an interstellar world, but a world we project that continues to revolve around the sun but no longer revolves around us. This book will be of interest to scholars working in design research, design ecology, product design, service design, experience design, architecture, and information design.
