Book excerpt: Blockchain, the key to the world of cryptocurrencies—a phrase that sounds like a promise of wealth. But what exactly is Blockchain? Unfortunately, in most books, articles, and discussions, it is either explained in a way that’s hard to understand or oversimplified with unnecessary emotional baggage, presented either technically or ideologically. Some see Blockchain as a savior from greedy bankers, while others view it as a tool for building cryptocurrencies that undermine central banks. Which image is closer to reality? The story of Blockchain is not just a tale of mathematical experiments. It’s primarily a story of the age-old attempt to record human activities and the value that flows from them. This time, however, the goal is to make it accessible to everyone on equal terms. This book delves into the evolution and technical intricacies of Blockchain technology, steering clear of the common focus on mere cryptocurrency speculation. It clarifies complex concepts and underscores Blockchain’s capacity to revolutionize industries and empower individuals globally, thereby demystifying the technology and making its profound potential accessible to everyone.

Download or read book Confessions of a Crypto Millionaire written by Dan Conway and published by Zealot Publishing . This book was released on 2019-12-08 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A highly dramatic but lucid introduction to the murky world of cryptocurrency." – Kirkus Reviews "Five out of Five Stars. Reading this book was nothing short of thrilling." – Manhattan Book Review At the start of this riveting memoir, Dan Conway is a brash executive in a vast corporation, slogging his way up the ladder while struggling with depression and an addiction he thought he had defeated long ago. As he begins to realize that the mix of nightmarish bureaucracy and his unruly "flip side" have doomed any chance of success, Dan stumbles upon cryptocurrency, tumbling down the rabbit hole to discover a strange, anarchic, but captivating world. He decides to wager everything—his savings, his marriage, his family, his future—on the fledgling crypto, Ether. In Confessions of a Crypto Millionaire, readers join Dan on a rollicking, harrowing, frequently hilarious journey, including his: struggle to rise through the corporate ranks; battle with addiction and its aftermath; bid to reinvent himself; efforts to hold his marriage and family together; and the costs–and thrills–of risking it all. "For Conway, crypto was only partly about the money. It was also about finding liberation and salvation." – Forbes Dan details in a non-technical and non-preachy way how the idea of blockchain-based decentralization has convinced a generation of dreamers, misfits and gamblers to too often bet more than they can afford to lose. He illustrates how public blockchains like Ethereum could disrupt the nature of work itself in the coming years, upending stultifying centralized corporations in favor of "trust machines" and peer-to-peer cooperation. In the process, readers take a thrilling ride with Dan on a turbocharged adventure through crypto, not knowing if he will make history or lose everything he holds dear.
Download or read book Kings of Crypto written by Jeff John Roberts and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2020-12-15 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tech writer Roberts debuts with a page-turning account of the rise of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase from the Y Combinator startup incubator to becoming a 'pillar of the larger crypto economy.'" — Publisher's Weekly For a moment late in 2018, one bitcoin, which physically amounts to a few electrons blipping on a tiny bit of silicon, was worth $20,000—the same as a pound of gold. Libertarian technologists who believed bitcoin would be the foundation of a new world order saw the moment as an apotheosis. Everyone else saw a bubble. Everyone else was right, and the bubble burst. But bitcoin survived, and the battle for its soul rages on. Kings of Crypto drops us into the unfolding drama, tracing the rise, fall, and rebirth of cryptocurrency through the experiences of major players across the globe. We follow Silicon Valley entrepreneur Brian Armstrong and the turbulent rocket ride of his startup, Coinbase, as he tries to take bitcoin mainstream while fighting off hackers, thieves, and zealots. Author Jeff John Roberts keenly observes the world of virtual currencies and what happens when startups try to disrupt the world of high finance. Clear explanations of crypto technology are woven into an amazing landscape full of meme-fueled startup hijinks, hacking (so much hacking!), shady investors, government investigations, billionaire bros and their Lambos, and closed-door meetings with Jamie Dimon. This is the surprising story of the origins of cryptocurrency and how it is changing money forever.

Download or read book Mr Bitcoin written by Mpho Dagada and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bitcoin is a decentralised virtual currency that uses cryptography to remove the need for trust between agents and intermediaries. Though it is deemed a currency, the cryptographic nature of bitcoin gives it characteristics similar to commodities, for example, gold. This thesis examines the relationship between spot and futures prices in the bitcoin market. It also applies the well known Gibson-Schwartz model to the pricing of bitcoin futures contracts. A sample from March 2013 to February 2015 is considered, including two separate periods of substantial increase in the bitcoin spot market. Findings suggest that the futures market was significantly in contango, with convenience yields often below -100% p.a. and significant arbitrage profits readily available. The convenience yield is found to be mean-reverting and decreasing in magnitude since 2013, with the market inefficiently pricing convenience yield risk. A negative relationship between the convenience yield and spot price volatility is observed, drawing comparisons with the electricity market. Overall, the Gibson-Schwartz model is found to provide a good fit to nearest-term futures contracts, while it fails to appropriately price bitcoin futures with longer maturities.
Download or read book The Infinite Machine written by Camila Russo and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written with the verve of such works as The Big Short, The History of the Future, and The Spider Network, here is the fascinating, true story of the rise of Ethereum, the second-biggest digital asset in the world, the growth of cryptocurrency, and the future of the internet as we know it. Everyone has heard of Bitcoin, but few know about the second largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, which has been heralded as the "next internet." The story of Ethereum begins with Vitalik Buterin, a supremely gifted nineteen-year-old autodidact who saw the promise of blockchain when the technology was in its earliest stages. He convinced a crack group of coders to join him in his quest to make a super-charged, global computer. The Infinite Machine introduces Vitalik’s ingenious idea and unfolds Ethereum’s chaotic beginnings. It then explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed the platform—an infinitely adaptable foundation for experimentation and new applications—has unleashed and the consequences that resulted as the frenzy surrounding it grew: increased regulatory scrutiny, incipient Wall Street interest, and the founding team’s effort to get the Ethereum platform to scale so it can eventually be accessible to the masses. Financial journalist and cryptocurrency expert Camila Russo details the wild and often hapless adventures of a team of hippy-anarchists, reluctantly led by an ambivalent visionary, and lays out how this new foundation for the internet will spur both transformation and fraud—turning some into millionaires and others into felons—and revolutionize our ideas about money.
Download or read book An Altcoin Trader s Handbook written by Nik Patel and published by . This book was released on 2018-06-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No doubt you will have seen or heard about the fervour that surrounded cryptocurrencies in 2017, and many of you may have dismissed them as a legitimate asset class; many may have felt a quiet interest but a looming fear; others undoubtedly felt drawn towards the allure of cryptocurrencies and altcoins (and any of the other innumerable names) yet lacked the framework required to tame this volatile and novel market. To you, I present An Altcoin Trader's Handbook: The exponential growth of the cryptosphere over the previous half-decade has brought with it a plethora of life-changing speculative opportunities. Where traditional financial markets seem inaccessible and ineffectual due to the prevalence of high fees and low returns, the emergence of a worldwide market of decentralised alternatives to Bitcoin allows for those unable (or unwilling) to navigate the often-slippery world of hedge funds and investment banks the chance to realise financial freedom. This, of course, is no effortless journey, and this book does not profess to be a get-rich-quick scheme of any sort. Instead, An Altcoin Trader's Handbook merges almost five years of tragicomic yet insightful anecdotes on the ever-evolving nature of the cryptosphere with a comprehensive strategy for profitable altcoin speculation. The book focuses on maximising the upside potential of capital whilst diminishing downside risks, both of which are possible with speculation on so-called 'microcap' and 'lowcap' altcoins, given the application of proper risk management. Above all, the reader will learn, in exhaustive detail, the three-stage process of research, accumulation and distribution that has been the bedrock of my own success in the space. The journey will be intensive - often arduous - but will, with some good fortune, result in an individual most well-equipped to capitalise on the greatest glut of financial opportunity the world has ever seen.
Download or read book The Millionaire Fastlane written by MJ DeMarco and published by Viperion Publishing Corp. This book was released on 2011-01-04 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION Is the financial plan of mediocrity -- a dream-stealing, soul-sucking dogma known as "The Slowlane" your plan for creating wealth? You know how it goes; it sounds a lil something like this: "Go to school, get a good job, save 10% of your paycheck, buy a used car, cancel the movie channels, quit drinking expensive Starbucks mocha lattes, save and penny-pinch your life away, trust your life-savings to the stock market, and one day, when you are oh, say, 65 years old, you can retire rich." The mainstream financial gurus have sold you blindly down the river to a great financial gamble: You've been hoodwinked to believe that wealth can be created by recklessly trusting in the uncontrollable and unpredictable markets: the housing market, the stock market, and the job market. This impotent financial gamble dubiously promises wealth in a wheelchair -- sacrifice your adult life for a financial plan that reaps dividends in the twilight of life. Accept the Slowlane as your blueprint for wealth and your financial future will blow carelessly asunder on a sailboat of HOPE: HOPE you can find a job and keep it, HOPE the stock market doesn't tank, HOPE the economy rebounds, HOPE, HOPE, and HOPE. Do you really want HOPE to be the centerpiece for your family's financial plan? Drive the Slowlane road and you will find your life deteriorate into a miserable exhibition about what you cannot do, versus what you can. For those who don't want a lifetime subscription to "settle-for-less" and a slight chance of elderly riches, there is an alternative; an expressway to extraordinary wealth that can burn a trail to financial independence faster than any road out there. Why jobs, 401(k)s, mutual funds, and 40-years of mindless frugality will never make you rich young. Why most entrepreneurs fail and how to immediately put the odds in your favor. The real law of wealth: Leverage this and wealth has no choice but to be magnetized to you. The leading cause of poorness: Change this and you change everything. How the rich really get rich - and no, it has nothing to do with a paycheck or a 401K match. Why the guru's grand deity - compound interest - is an impotent wealth accelerator. Why the guru myth of "do what you love" will most likely keep you poor, not rich. And 250+ more poverty busting distinctions... Demand the Fastlane, an alternative road-to-wealth; one that actually ignites dreams and creates millionaires young, not old. Change lanes and find your explosive wealth accelerator. Hit the Fastlane, crack the code to wealth, and find out how to live rich for a lifetime.

She introduces readers to larger-than-life characters like Buterin, the Web3 wunderkind; his short-lived CEO, Charles Hoskinson; and Joe Lubin, a former Goldman Sachs VP who became one of crypto’s most well-known billionaires.
