Download or read book Crunch Time to Save Our Constitution written by H. Lee Fisher and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crunch Time to Save Our Constitution depicts the political environment and issues that evolved in the Obama era, as our nation accelerated intrusion of liberal doctrine throughout government and influenced the transition of our society to liberal mores, which had been fermenting since the San Francisco hippies of the early 1940s. With the unprecedented election of Trump, progressive Democrats were marginalized, hindering their indicated goal following installing some form of government apart from our Constitution. Crunch Time to Save Our Constitution traces the accomplishments of the Trump administration, irrespective of Democrat obstructionist stratagem--unjustified Mueller investigation, prolonging the Kavanaugh Supreme Court appointment--to deter President Trump from executing his statutory role, and why Democrats are compelled to continue and expand such tactics. This once great united nation has purposefully and effectively been divided in a manner that places conservatives and liberals on a course to revolution to satiate the thirst for political power. This political theater is displayed to a naive public subject to managed news, unperceiving of the internal threats to our republican form of government. Crunch Time to Save Our Constitution unmasks the true forces that are competing for political control of our government and the prime internal threats to our nation's security. Crunch Time to Save Our Constitution provides bold actions to reunite our people, avoid a conflict among neighbors, and return to our Constitution and its values as our Founding Fathers intended.

Download or read book The Sleeping Sovereign written by Richard Tuck and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Richard Tuck traces the history of the distinction between sovereignty and government and its relevance to the development of democratic thought. Tuck shows that this was a central issue in the political debates of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and provides a new interpretation of the political thought of Bodin, Hobbes and Rousseau. Integrating legal theory and the history of political thought, he also provides one of the first modern histories of the constitutional referendum, and shows the importance of the United States in the history of the referendum. The book derives from the John Robert Seeley Lectures delivered by Richard Tuck at the University of Cambridge in 2012, and will appeal to students and scholars of the history of ideas, political theory and political philosophy.

Download or read book Scotland and Europe Scotland in Europe written by Gilles Leydier and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-26 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the book is to explore the long-standing and multi-faceted relationship between Scotland and the societies and cultures of the European continent, in various epochs and from a large diversity of view points and problematics. The book collects most of the contributions from the IVth annual conference of the Société Française d’Etudes Ecossaises, held in Toulon in October 2005. This international conference gathered fifty European academics, working in a wide range of research fields, from social history to art history, from language to literature, from politics to civilisation and cultural studies. The interdisciplinary ambition and cross-cultural perspective of the conference are reflected in the volume. The book is divided into four main sections: links with Europe, visions of Europe, voices in Europe, and current political issues within the European Union. It illustrates the richness and complexity of the dialogue between Scotland and the continent over the centuries, and underlines the open, fluid and dynamic character of the Scottish identity.
Download or read book The Anti Oligarchy Constitution written by Joseph Fishkin and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2022-01-11 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A bold call to reclaim an American tradition that argues the Constitution imposes a duty on government to fight oligarchy and ensure broadly shared wealth. Oligarchy is a threat to the American republic. When too much economic and political power is concentrated in too few hands, we risk losing the Òrepublican form of governmentÓ the Constitution requires. Today, courts enforce the Constitution as if it has almost nothing to say about this threat. But as Joseph Fishkin and William Forbath show in this revolutionary retelling of constitutional history, a commitment to prevent oligarchy once stood at the center of a robust tradition in American political and constitutional thought. Fishkin and Forbath demonstrate that reformers, legislators, and even judges working in this Òdemocracy of opportunityÓ tradition understood that the Constitution imposes a duty on legislatures to thwart oligarchy and promote a broad distribution of wealth and political power. These ideas led Jacksonians to fight special economic privileges for the few, Populists to try to break up monopoly power, and Progressives to fight for the constitutional right to form a union. During Reconstruction, Radical Republicans argued in this tradition that racial equality required breaking up the oligarchy of slave power and distributing wealth and opportunity to former slaves and their descendants. President Franklin Roosevelt and the New Dealers built their politics around this tradition, winning the fight against the Òeconomic royalistsÓ and Òindustrial despots.Ó But today, as we enter a new Gilded Age, this tradition in progressive American economic and political thought lies dormant. The Anti-Oligarchy Constitution begins the work of recovering it and exploring its profound implications for our deeply unequal society and badly damaged democracy.
Download or read book The American Kings written by Robert Kimball Shinkoskey and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An inevitable feature of democratic governments is the tendency of their chief executives to pursue domestic policies and foreign wars without the consent of the people. America's own presidents have studiously ignored Congress and the states and have begun to act like all-powerful kings. U.S. presidents make wild promises to get elected, use temporary crises to expand personal power, publish propaganda to divert attention away from their actions, pass out benefits to favored sections of the population in order to get re-elected, and suppress segments of the population who disagree with them. This book chronicles the story of America's lapse into tyranny at the hands of some of its best-known presidents.
