Book The Cross Before the Crown

Download or read book The Cross Before the Crown written by Ernest LeVos and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2016-09-07 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Haddon Spurgeon (18341892), as his sermons and expositions testify, treasured the last words of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. In his ministry, Spurgeon made the whole life of Christ worth beholding: His life, death, resurrection, and His work as the heavenly mediator. In his book, The Cross before the Crown: Charles Spurgeon on Christs Last Words on the Cross, the author brings together twenty-two sermons and six expositions by Spurgeon; one sermon by Octavius Winslow (18081878), and one selection by Matthew Henry (16621714) from his Commentary. Meant to be used as a devotional, this book will help you develop a deeper understanding of Christs ultimate sacrifice for us, His believers. In his sermons, with the effective ministration of the Holy Spirit (Spurgeon leaned very heavily on the aid of the Spirit), he constantly exalted the One greater than all the patriarchs, prophets, priests, and princesses. The Cross before the Crown: Charles Spurgeon on Christs Last Words of the Cross is a testament to Spurgeons power as the Prince of Preachers.

Book The Joy of the Gospel

Download or read book The Joy of the Gospel written by Pope Francis and published by Image. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage

Book The Cradle the Cross and the Crown

Download or read book The Cradle the Cross and the Crown written by Andreas J. Köstenberger and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2009-08-01 with total page 978 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Scripture cannot be reduced to a mere piece of human writing, there is much to gain by paying careful attention to the historical, literary, and theological dimensions of the biblical text. For this reason, The Cradle, the Cross, and the Crown is offered to the serious New Testament student who seeks to better understand and share God’s “word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Across nearly one thousand pages, it thoroughly introduces all twenty-seven New Testament books and closely examines Christ’s incarnation and virgin birth, the heart of His ministry shown so vividly in the Gospels’ Passion Narratives, and the triumphant return of Jesus and our eternal reign with Him as depicted in Revelation. "Simply an outstanding work. Its up-to-date research alone makes The Cradle, the Cross, and the Crown an invaluable resource. Add to this its comprehensive survey of the crucial issues related to New Testament studies, and you have a textbook well suited for the college or seminary classroom." --Daniel L. Akin, president, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC "Among the finest such studies of recent decades in classic matters of New Testament introduction. What sets it apart includes: (1) attention to theology and the history of interpretation; (2) extended presentation of the history of New Testament times and the rise of the canon; (3) appropriate rigor; (4) frequently creative layout features; and (5) conceptual clarity. Beyond an impressive digest of scholarship, it is an appeal to faithful appropriation of the New Testament's message." --Robert W. Yarbrough, professor of New Testament and department chair, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL "Clear, thorough, up to date, and engaging all the contemporary alternatives people are putting forward . . . discerning and judicious. Well done and highly recommended." --Darrell L. Bock, research professor of New Testament, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, TX "The Cradle, the Cross, and the Crown sets a new standard for excellence among textbooks dealing with New Testament introduction (and) offers a veritable gold mine of information often found only in several texts. A distinctively unique textbook that displays not only careful and balanced scholarship, but is lucidly written and Òuser friendly." --Richard D. Patterson, emeritus professor, Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior on January I3, 1986. Since that life-changing day, I have heard, read about and observed many spiritual struggles in Christians' lives, including Christian leaders, such as pastors, evangelists. missionaries, deacons, teachers, elders, administrators, and bishops. I feel strongly in my spirit that many are grieving the Holy Spirit in more ways than one, and I am no exception. The list of how we are grieving the Spirit is exhaustive; however, I will mention some key areas where we have been failing consistently: 1. Not loving God as we ought 2. Not fearing God as we ought 3. Turning God into a God of Convenience 4. Not reading the Word (Bible) daily 5. Failing to pray for self and others 6. Breaking promises 7. Not tithing regularly 8. Being a false witness 9. Choosing to be selfish and self-centered 10. Not being thankful and not showing appreciation I I. Taking God and others for granted 12. Presenting ourselves as holy and righteous 13. Judging others constantly 14. Entertaining and encouraging gossip 15. Not practicing humility The Holy Spirit inspired me to write this book first to myself as an eye-opening experience. Yet, I realize I am not the only one dealing with the issues mentioned above. Thousands of people (possibly more) may be experiencing the same things I have been facing. Therefore, let us learn to be patient, kind, tolerant, and understanding of one another, and instead of judging one another in an ungodly manner, let us learn to appreciate, respect, and accept each other, despite our disagreements and differences. With that in mind, consider the following Scripture Verse from the New Testament: "And do nor grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:30). Thank You and God Bless.

Book Eternal Rewards

  • Author : Mike Connell

  • Release : 2021-01-12
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 568 pages

Download or read book Eternal Rewards written by Mike Connell and published by . This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major themes of Jesus teachings was the theme of Eternal Rewards. This topic is seldom taught in churches, but it provides major motivation for holiness, personal transformation and faithful service. We shall all stand before the Judgment seat of Christ to give account for our stewardship as followers of Christ. At stake are position, honour and reward in the coming Kingdom of Christ. Eternal Rewards are an important part of Jesus teachings, both in the Gospels and also in the Book of Revelation. Eternal Rewards are Jesus generosity to us in the coming Millennium and beyond that acknowledge our love for Him, our transformation to become like Him and the service we have done on His behalf during our life on earth. This series brings understanding of the significance and importance of Eternal Rewards. This teaching continue to explain what those rewards are and it's focus is Eternal Glory. Jesus frequently taught about Eternal rewards in the Coming Millennial Kingdom and for the need for His disciples to pursue them and live in preparation for His Second coming. In this series we examine what are the Eternal rewards that Jesus has reserved for those who love Him. A Crown is given to the Victor who has won the race or the fight. It is given in recognition and honor to a person because of what they have achieved or overcome. In this message we discover five different Crowns that are promised to believers who meet the conditions. These are the Incorruptible Crown, The Crown of Rejoicing, The Crown of Righteousness, The Crown of Life and the Crown of Glory. Eternal Rewards are expressions of the value and honor that Jesus places upon those who love and serve Him in this life. The rewards are eternal and will be recognised and valued in the Millennial Kingdom and ages to come. Every believer must appear before the Judgment seat of Christ to give account of our life and stewardship service. Our life and works will be examined to establish what rewards we will qualify for. For some believers this will be a time of celebration, joy and eternal honor. For other believers it will come as a shock as they discover they have wasted the life and opportunities entrusted to them, and that their life and works fail to qualify and they are excluded from the rewards that Jesus had prepared for them. Such believers are saved, but forfeit rewards in the coming Kingdom of Jesus. The First Resurrection is presented as the great hope and the prize to be won by the believer. Believers and unbelievers will both arise together in the General resurrection at the end of the 1000-year Millennial Kingdom of Christ. However, the First resurrection is for those believers who qualify to participate. It is possible for a believer not to qualify for this First resurrection. In 2 Peter 1, Peter describes the necessity of personal transformation and fruit-bearing in the life of the believer. Peter shares his revelation of Christ coming in majesty to rule and reign, and the necessity of the believer to be diligent in adding to their foundational faith the character qualities of Christ. Believers who neglect to commit to personal growth, Peter describes as barren, unfruitful, blind, shortsighted, and forgetful of the work and calling of Christ. Personal growth, heart and character transformation ensure we will never fall, will be fruitful and stable, and will have an abundant entrance into the Coming Kingdom of God.
