Download or read book The Elementary Process Of Bremsstrahlung written by Eberhard Haug and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004-03-15 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the theory and experiment of the elementary process of bremsstrahlung, where photons are detected in coincidence with decelerated outgoing electrons. Such experiments allow for a more stringent check of the theoretical work. The main emphasis is laid on electron-atom bremsstrahlung and electron-electron bremsstrahlung, but further bremsstrahlung processes are also dealt with. In the theoretical parts, triply differential cross sections are derived in various approximations, including electron spin and photon-polarization. In the experimental sections, electron-photon coincidence experiments are discussed. These are done partly with transversely polarized electron beams and partly with detectors for the bremsstrahlung linear polarization.

Download or read book Radiological Safety Aspects of the Operation of Electron Linear Accelerators written by William P. Swanson and published by Bernan Press(PA). This book was released on 1979 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electron linear accelerators are being used throughout the world in increasing numbers in a variety of important applications. Foremost among these is their role in the treatment of cancer. Commercial uses include non-destructive testing by radiography, food preservation, product sterilization and radiation processing of materials such as plastics and adhesives. Scientific applications include investigations in radiation biology, radiation chemistry, nuclear and elementary particle physics and radiation research. This manual provides authoritative guidance in radiation protection for this important category of radiation sources.

Download or read book Bremsstrahlung Cross Sections in the Neighborhood of the Plasma Frequency written by Ludwig Oster and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spontaneous emission probability due to the bremsstrahlung mechanism for photons whose frequencies are close to the plasma frequency is computed on the basis of classical radiation theory. The particle orbits are calculated using for the interaction potential electron-ion a Cou lomb form which is cut off at the Debye distance. The resulting emission probability undergoes a rapid, smooth transition at frequencies close to the plasma frequency from the logarithmic frequency dependence, typical of the high frequency limit, to the frequency-idependent expression, derived in the d.c. limit. For practical purposes, shielding corrections can be neglected in computing the Fourier components of the acceleration, but must be applied for frequencies in the neighborhood of the plasma frequency, when the spectrum is averaged over collision parameters.
