Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kerry Graham surprises his father by coming out as gay and cross-dresser, and possibly non-binary. Then again, when he starts performing in drag at a local Cabaret named The Red where his cousin works as a tailor. He finds himself free and able to be himself in a world that has always treated him as an outcast. He’s among people that understand him, and he can finally relax. At least, that’s what he believes. Then, a dress arrives, seemingly an apology for a bit of bigotry from a shop clerk. No one thinks a dress can cause any harm, so he wears it under the stage lights. Things go awry, though, and Kerry wonders what could possibly be happening. A bounty hunter named Martin swoops in, convinced that he can be of aid in the situation. Along with Martin, there’s an intrepid FBI agent named Zak on the trail of a pair of sadistic serial killers who target and manipulate young, attractive feminine men like Kerry. Kerry doesn’t believe it at first. Can he be targeted by these people? Then, things start happening, and his phone and email is full of messages with horrible images of what these people plan to do to him. He’s frightened but staunch in living his life. He is adamant that he won’t let them win, no matter what they do to him. Still, as the manipulation and gaslighting continues from afar, he starts to doubt everything he’s ever known. He starts to lose purchase on reality but finds that Martin and Zak ground him. He refuses to give in to their sadistic games, but in the end, he begins to wonder if his willpower is enough to keep these people away from him.

Book Crimson Arrows

Download or read book Crimson Arrows written by Eyad Yehyawi and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2017-09-19 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crimson Arrows: A Bowhunting Odyssey, is written from the heart and soul of a bowhunter. Spanning three decades of his adventures, Eyad Yehyawi takes you through the emotions, heartbreaks, and successes from his earliest years in Iowa, to physically and psychologically challenging backcountry hunts in Alaska and Canada, to a breathtaking African safari. Every setback and missed opportunity is revealed, along with the rewards earned through hard work and perseverance. Through these 27 stories, Eyad defines his passion for the outdoors, including the disappointments and mishaps, sleepless nights and tears, and a few instances where death comes calling. With intense descriptions of his surroundings, animal behavior, and imposing weather conditions, Eyad engages all of your senses as you share his adventures. Whether you long for giant whitetails and spring gobblers, are passionate to pursue mountain goats and moose in Alaska, dream of wading across the tundra for caribou, hope to stalk musk oxen in the Arctic, or aspire to trail a horse-killing cougar in the mountains of Alberta, you’ll find stories here to inspire you. As editor for Bowhunter magazine, I read thousands of manuscripts, and above all I loved discovering a nugget among the dozens of new writers who submitted manuscripts. Eyad Yehyawi was one of those. From the beginning, he wrote well and exuded enthusiasm for bowhunting. In his book, Crimson Arrows: A Bowhunting Odyssey, Yehyawi details his beginnings and growth as a bowhunter. He starts with whitetails and turkeys in his home state of Iowa and progresses to black bears, pronghorns, mule deer, elk, caribou, musk oxen, bison, and other species. All hunters can relate to his progression as a bowhunter and will find his stories compelling and fun to read. ~ Dwight Schuh ~ Former Editor, Bowhunter magazine and Member of the Bowhunters Hall of Fame

Book Dressed to Rule

  • Author : Philip Mansel
  • Publisher : Yale University Press
  • Release : 2005-01-01

Download or read book Dressed to Rule written by Philip Mansel and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history rulers have used clothes as a form of legitimization and propaganda. While palaces, pictures, and jewels might reflect the choice of a monarch’s predecessors or advisers, clothes reflected the preferences of the monarch himself. Being both personal and visible, the right costume at the right time could transform and define a monarch’s reputation. Many royal leaders have known this, from Louis XIV to Catherine the Great and from Napoleon I to Princess Diana. This intriguing book explores how rulers have sought to control their image through their appearance. Mansel shows how individual styles of dress throw light on the personalities of particular monarchs, on their court system, and on their ambitions. The book looks also at the economics of the costume industry, at patronage, at the etiquette involved in mourning dress, and at the act of dressing itself. Fascinating glimpses into the lives of European monarchs and contemporary potentates reveal the intimate connection between power and the way it is packaged.
