The "Octopus Programme" is a technical co-operation programme against corruption and organised crime initiated by the Council of Europe in 1996. Download or read book Organised Crime in Europe written by Cyrille Fijnaut and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-01-21 with total page 1068 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the first attempt to systematically compare organised crime concepts, as well as historical and contemporary patterns and control policies in thirteen European countries. These include seven ‘old’ EU Member States, two ‘new’ members, a candidate country, and three non-EU countries. Based on a standardised research protocol, thirty-three experts from different legal and social disciplines provide insight through detailed country reports. On this basis, the editors compare organised crime patterns and policies in Europe and assess EU initiatives against organised crime.

Book Terrorisme et criminalit organis e

Download or read book Terrorisme et criminalit organis e written by Christian Chocquet and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2003-05-01 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Organized Crime Culture Markets and Policies

Download or read book Organized Crime Culture Markets and Policies written by Dina Siegel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-16 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dina Siegel and Hans Nelen The term ‘global organized crime’ has been in use in criminology since the mid 1990s. Even more general and abstract than its daughter-terms (transnational or cross-border organized crime), ‘global organized crime’ seems to embrace the activities of criminal groups and networks all around the planet, leaving no geographical space untouched. The term appears to cover the geographical as well as the historical domain: ‘global’ has taken on the meaning of ‘forever and ever’. Global organized crime is also associatively linked with ‘globalisation’. The social construction of both terms in scientific discourse is in itself an interesting theme. But perhaps even more interesting, especially for academics trying to conduct empirical research in this area, is the analysis of the symbolic and practical meaning of these concepts. How should criminologists study globalisation in general and global organized crime in particular? Which instruments and ‘theoretical luggage’ do they have in order to conduct this kind of research? The aim of this book is not to formulate simple, straightforward answers to these questions, but rather to give an overview of contemporary criminological research combining international, national and local dimensions of specific organized crime pr- lems. The term global organized crime will hardly be used in this respect. In other social sciences, such as anthropology, there is a tendency to get rid of vague and abstract terms which can only serve to confuse our understanding. In our opinion, criminology should follow this initiative.

Download or read book La preuve en mati re de criminalit organis e written by Waleed Mohamed Hagag Ahmed Abdel Hafez and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 1290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Organized Crime Legislation in the European Union

Download or read book Organized Crime Legislation in the European Union written by Francesco Calderoni and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-19 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just a few months after the entry into force of the EU Framework Decision on the fight against organized crime, this book provides an unprecedented analysis of the national and European legislation on organized crime. The book provides a critical examination of the European policies and legal instruments to promote the harmonization and approximation of criminal law in this field (including the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime). The current level of harmonization among EU Member States and the approximation to the standards of the new Framework Decision are discussed in detail, with the help of tables, graphs and maps. The results highlight the problems surrounding the international legal instruments and the inconsistencies of the national approaches to combating organized crime.

Book Changes in Society Crime and Criminal Justice in Europe

Download or read book Changes in Society Crime and Criminal Justice in Europe written by C. J. C. F. Fijnaut and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 1995 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1994 the School of Criminology, a part of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminology in the Faculty of Law of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, celebrated the 25th anniversary of its study programme. To give added lustre to this landmark in its history, the Institute accepted the invitation from the International Society of Criminology to organise the 49th International Course of Criminology. The title of the course was: Changes in Society, Crime and Criminal Justice in Europe. A challenge for criminological education and research'. This course explored two themes, both of which are likely to be the focus of debate in criminal policy in the near future: crime and insecurity in the city, and international organised and corporate crime. The presentation and discussion of both themes followed two main approaches. Lectures and seminars focused on the analysis of the nature, the quantity and the development of the phenomena, and meetings were focused on the policy needed to gain control of these phenomena. Moreover, attention was paid to technical and ethical problems which show up at the moment that empirical research is carried out. This publication brings together the main part of the introductory lectures. Part one relates to the theme of crime and insecurity in the city; the second part contains the lectures on international organised and corporate crime. Together both parts present a good picture of what was explained and commented on during the Course, especially in relation to important European developments concerning crime, criminal justice and criminal policy. This book will become an important source of inspiration for both criminological educationand research.

Download or read book Criminalit organis e terrorisme et cybercriminalit r ponses de politiques criminelles written by Papa Gueye and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2018-11-13 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
