Download or read book The Redemption of Crestwood Heights written by Elliot Graves and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2006-05-23 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jasmine Fishers life as of current was nothing short of a dream come true. The problem was that it had all been made possible by Curtis Winslow, an overachieving entrepreneur in the lucrative business of illegal substance trafficking. Despite all of the luxuries that he had provided her and her family with, Jasmine found it hard not expressing her disgust with him about what it was that he did for a living. She wanted him out of the business. Curtis had failed to see any problem with him staying in, and considering the very high ranking position that he held in the cartel that he belonged to, he had occasion to express to her how difficult, if not impossible, a transition like that would be to accomplish. The issue was developing a rift between them that was threatening to tear the couple apart. It was business as usual for Curtis. Everything was running smoothly and he had nothing to do but sit back and watch the money roll in. That isuntil an attack is made on his organization. An attack that will most certainly lead them to war. During the ensuing mayhem Curtis will be left to do battle with the conflictions within himself as well as make a choice between his allegiance to his criminal faction and his loyalties to his family at home.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both Alexander Schmemann and Joseph Ratzinger insist that the human person remains shrouded in mystery without God’s self-disclosure in the person of Jesus Christ. Like us, Jesus lived in a particular time and location, and therefore time and temporality must be part of the ontological question of what it means to be a human person. Yet, Jesus, the one who has time for us, ascended to the Father, and the bride of Christ awaits his return, and therefore time and temporality are conditioned by the eschatological. With this in mind, the ontological question of personhood and temporality is a question that concerns eschatology: how does eschatology shape personhood? Bringing together Schmemann and Ratzinger in a theological dialogue for the first time, this book explores their respective approaches and answers to the aforementioned question. While the two theologians share much in common, it is only Ratzinger’s relational ontological approach that, by being consistently relational from top to bottom, consistently preserves the meaningfulness of temporal existence.

  • Release : 2003
  • ISBN : 9780742531635
  • Pages : 300 pages

Download or read book Tradition Alive written by Michael Plekon and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2003 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael Plekon's Tradition Alive presents a collection of essays highlighting not only the vibrant tradition of 20th century Eastern Orthodox thought, but also the necessity of its inclusion in the theological canon constructed mainly by Western Christian thinkers. Ranging from the thought of the first generation of Russian ZmigrZs to contemporary Eastern Orthodox theologians, the essays in Tradition Alive point toward a positive theology that is convinced of the immanence of the holy spirit despite a world torn apart by revolution, violence, and despair. The contributors profess their faith in the transforming presence of Christ and the divine dimensions of the church by looking to the meaning and power of tradition in the practices of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. By focusing on the Orthodox Church's ecclesial and liturgical character, the authors emphasize the living character of the Christian tradition. With many contributions difficult, if not impossible, to access until now, Tradition Alive presents a brave and distinctive effort to enliven Western theology by looking to the theology of the East.
