Book Modeling High Temperature Materials Behavior for Structural Analysis

Download or read book Modeling High Temperature Materials Behavior for Structural Analysis written by Konstantin Naumenko and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-11 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents approaches to characterize inelastic behavior of materials and structures at high temperature. Starting from experimental observations, it discusses basic features of inelastic phenomena including creep, plasticity, relaxation, low cycle and thermal fatigue. The authors formulate constitutive equations to describe the inelastic response for the given states of stress and microstructure. They introduce evolution equations to capture hardening, recovery, softening, ageing and damage processes. Principles of continuum mechanics and thermodynamics are presented to provide a framework for the modeling materials behavior with the aim of structural analysis of high-temperature engineering components.

Book Inelastic Behaviour of Structures under Variable Loads

Download or read book Inelastic Behaviour of Structures under Variable Loads written by Zenon Mróz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of papers is a state of the art presentation of theories and methods related to the problem of the behaviour of mechanical structures under variable loads beyond their elastic limit In particular, the problems of shakedown, ratchetting, transient and asymptotic cyclic states are addressed. The volume is composed of four chapters devoted to material modelling for cyclic loading conditions; general theory of accommodated states of structures; effects of changes of the geometry on the inelastic structural response; and numerical techniques with applications to particular engineering problems. It was aimed to provide a unified approach in order to understand both inelastic material and structural response under variable loading conditions. The attempt to extend the classical shakedown theory of Melan and Koiter to geometrically non-linear problems is presented in several papers. The industrial application of cyclic plasticity to the analysis and the design of pressure bellows, compensators, turbine disks, or flange connections under thermal and pressure cycles illustrates the great potential of the numerical techniques developed for this purpose using mostly min-max approaches. The treatment of railway problems and the analysis and optimisation of pavements are further examples of important areas of applications. Emphasis was laid on approaches that take into account the fact that loading histories are often not precisely known Therefore, the center of interest lies in other than step by step calculation methods.

Book Thermal Integrity in Mechanics and Engineering

Download or read book Thermal Integrity in Mechanics and Engineering written by Boris F. Shorr and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-30 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is targeted at engineers, university lecturers, postgraduates, and final year undergraduate students involved in computational modelling and experimental and theoretical analysis of the high-temperature behavior of engineering structures. It will also be of interest to researchers developing the thermal strength theory as a branch of continuum mechanics. Thermal integrity is a multidisciplinary field combining the expertise of mechanical engineers, material scientists and applied mathematicians, each approaching the problem from their specific viewpoint. This monograph draws on the research of a broad scientific community including the author’s contribution. The scope of thermal strength analysis was considerably extended thanks to modern computers and the implementation of FEM codes. However, the author believes that some material models adopted in the advanced high-performance software, are not sufficiently justificated due to lack of easy-to-follow books on the theoretical and experimental aspects of thermal integrity. The author endeavors to provide a thorough yet sufficiently simple presentation of the underlying concepts, making the book compelling to a wide audience.

Book Mechanics Of Solids And Structures 2nd Edition

Download or read book Mechanics Of Solids And Structures 2nd Edition written by David W A Rees and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2016-08-04 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifteen chapters of this book are arranged in a logical progression. The text begins with the more fundamental material on stress and strain transformations with elasticity theory for plane and axially symmetric bodies, followed by a full treatment of the theories of bending and torsion. Coverage of moment distribution, shear flow, struts and energy methods precede a chapter on finite elements. Thereafter, the book presents yield and strength criteria, plasticity, collapse, creep, visco-elasticity, fatigue and fracture mechanics. Appended is material on the properties of areas, matrices and stress concentrations. Each topic is illustrated by worked examples and supported by numerous exercises drawn from the author's teaching experience and professional institution examinations (CEI).This edition includes new material and an extended exercise section for each of the fifteen chapters, as well as three appendices. The broad text ensures its suitability for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in which the mechanics of solids and structures form a part including: mechanical, aeronautical, civil, design and materials engineering.

Book Materials and Strength of Gas Turbine Parts

Download or read book Materials and Strength of Gas Turbine Parts written by Leonid Borisovich Getsov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-17 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses several mechanical and material problems that are typical for gas turbine components. It discusses accelerated tests and other methods for increasing the reliability of gas turbine engines. Special attention is given to non-traditional methods for calculating the strength characteristics and longevity of the main components. This first volume focuses on the selection of materials, deformation and destruction mechanisms in connection with stationary and non-stationary loading, and types of material damage such as the thermal fatigue. Particular attention is paid to the issues of the properties of single crystal alloys, the relationship between structure and properties, the influence of technological factors and long-term operation. The characteristics of creep resistance, crack resistance, and resistance to cyclic deformation of different alloys are given.

Book Mechanics of Material Behavior

Download or read book Mechanics of Material Behavior written by G.J. Dvorak and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies in Applied Mechanics, Volume 6: Mechanics of Material Behavior provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of the mechanics of material behavior. This book discusses the theory of plasticity and its application to the design of engineering components and structures. Organized into 24 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the concept of material stability, which provided a unified approach for the derivation of stress–strain relations for the plastic behavior of metals. This text then examines the general equation for the plane-stress condition of orthotropic sheet material that is isotropic in its plane. Other chapters consider the developments in plasticity as applied to soil mechanics, with emphasis on applications to earthquake-induced landslide problems. This book discusses as well the restrictions on a hypothesized quasi-statically propagating planar surface. The final chapter deals with the effects of fiber orientation, delamination length, and ply thickness on the interlaminar fracture. This book is a valuable resource for engineers.

Book Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Fire

Download or read book Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Fire written by Bruce R. Ellingwood and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods for analytically predicting the behavior of simply supported reinforced concrete beams subjected to fire are presented. This is generally a two-step process involving a thermal analysis followed by a stress analysis. This study emphasizes the latter, wherein the determination of moment-curvature-time relationships for the beam cross section incorporates the temperature-dependent strength degradation in the steel and concrete as well as thermal and creep strains. The sensitivity of the predictions to various phases of analytical modeling is investigated to establish the parameters most important for the prediction of beam behavior and to indicate where additional data should be gathered. A comparison of predicted behavior with that observed in fire tests shows excellent agreement when realistic reinforcement temperature histories are used.
