Book Credits Collections and Their Management

Download or read book Credits Collections and Their Management written by W. H. Preston and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-04 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Credits, Collections and Their Management: With Many Credit Department Forms No apology is necessary for attempting to write a book of practice for credit men. After spending many years at the credit desk in wholesale houses, the author has been impressed with the great need of systematic and comprehensive methods. He has observed the new credit man starting in without any aids and trying to build up a system, and even in many cases attempting to work without any system. He has seen many thousands of letters of a similar nature written one by one, when a system of wisely designed printed forms would have minimized labor and cost and made the result more effective. Adding to his own experience a careful study of the methods and forms in use in many of the best credit departments of the country, he has embodied the best into a comprehensive system in successful daily operation under his supervision, which he has fully described. While there is not altogether an absence of theory in the following pages, the theory is practically applied in at least one credit department. If in this effort the author may help some one as he would like to have been helped years ago, he will feel well repaid for the labor. Book New Collection Methods

Download or read book New Collection Methods written by Edward Hall Gardner and published by . This book was released on 2015-06-30 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from New Collection Methods: A Systematic Treatment of the Place of Collections in Marketing, Including Constructive Credits, Psychology of Collections, Procedure and System for Collection Departments, and the Principle of Resale What President Wilson has termed "the conservation of facilities" applies with special emphasis to mercantile credits and collections. To weather the storm of war, business must increase its efficiency and prevent waste. The object of this book is to show the best methods of making collections, and the principles underlying them. The "sales point of view" is the point of view of the modem credit or collection man. He realizes that his function is constructive, and that he has a part to play in the marketing plan of his house. This function is set forth in Chapters III, IV, and VII, "the Place of Collections in the Marketing Plan," "The Principles of Resale," and "Selling and Reselling Credit." The interesting work of some of the foremost business houses of the country in building the retailer into a better credit risk is told in Chapters XXVII and XXVIII on constructive credits. The psychology of the delinquent customer has been analyzed, and the various appeals to pride, good-will, etc., have been illustrated by extracts from the entire range of interviews and correspondence in use in modern houses. The procedure of collections is fully treated and illustrated, as well as the office system for a collection department. The intention has been to make the book of service not only to the credit and collection departments, but to other departments and executives. Chapter XIV, "Co-operation with the Sales Department," in addition to those above cited illustrates this purpose. Nine-tenths of business, including credits and collections, is done by mail. Book Pen Pencil and Poison

Download or read book Pen Pencil and Poison written by Oscar Wilde and published by Lindhardt og Ringhof. This book was released on 2022-04-06 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Pen, Pencil, and Poison’ is one of Wilde’s most intriguing essays. Part biography, part social commentary, and part philosophical debate, he writes the biography of an art critic, who was also convicted of murder. However, in true Wildean style, there’s more to the essay than meets the eye. While documenting the life and crimes of Thomas Griffiths Wainwright, Wilde explores the ideas of dual identity, sin in the formation of the personality, and the relationship between crime and culture. ‘Pen, Pencil, and Poison’ is a fascinating insight into some of the conventions of the time. Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900) was an Irish novelist, poet, playwright, and wit. He was an advocate of the Aesthetic movement, which extolled the virtues of art for the sake of art. During his career, Wilde wrote nine plays, including ‘The Importance of Being Earnest,’ ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan,’ and ‘A Woman of No Importance,’ many of which are still performed today. His only novel, ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ was adapted for the silver screen, in the film, ‘Dorian Gray,’ starring Ben Barnes and Colin Firth. In addition, Wilde wrote 43 poems, and seven essays. His life was the subject of a film, starring Stephen Fry.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Weeks Collection: Caroliniana But this fad ceased to interest me, for I had exhausted the possibilities of my position and, building on my dead self, I passed on to other hobbies. The next was newspapers. My desire was to get one copy of as many different papers as I possibly could, and while it lasted publishers were importuned for specimen copies and my friends and acquaintances made miserable with my begging for every stray newspaper that happened to add*a new title to my collection. I was then, and am now, in a dilettante way, a stamp collee tor. I cannot assign that amiable weakness to any particular period, for it covers all but I have had more control over this propensity than over others, for stamp collecting requires expert knowledge, much time and much money, and while I am always interested in a good collection of stamps, I have not had the disposition to go deeply into the matter for myself. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Credits and Collections: The Factors Involved and the Methods Pursued in Credit Operations; A Practical Treatise by Eminent Credit Men American business men hold that the only way to learn to do things is to do them. This opinion has had much truth and fact to justify it, but it has been undergoing a marked transformation in the past decade. For men are coming to realize that, although no one can learn to do a thing by merely being told how it is done, such precious knowledge greatly facilitates his learning how to do it when once he gets into practical work. It affords him a strong foundation, barren and useless in itself, but a firm basis upon which to build the structure of business experience. Book learning, abstract knowledge, is like a fertilizer: it does not, of itself, produce anything, but it stimulates growth and advance when the live seed, practical experience, is instilled in the soil of work. There Is another feature in modern commercial life which has stimulated t.he output of business literature. Association for the accomplishment of common purposes is having an always greater impetus, and it has been accompanied by another kind of co-operation - the give and take of business ideas and knowledge. In other words, business men are realizing that no one man can know all; that every man can make a profitable exchange by giving his knowledge and experience for that of others.
