Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Exploring the Evidence for Creation, Henry Morris III merges years of meticulous research alongside the latest findings of science to present powerful evidence that upholds the biblical account of the earth’s beginnings. In response to the growing number of Christians who attempt to wed evolutionary theories with the biblical account of creation, Morris ably demonstrates the two worldviews are entirely incompatible. In this survey of the evidence for creation he answers these crucial questions: What does the natural world teach us about creation? Can we observe evolution happening today? Can we believe in a Creator and still be true to science? Morris lays out evidence that is rational, scientific, and biblical. Readers will marvel as they discover the many ways that scientific research points, with stunning clarity, to a Creator and Designer whose glory is very much on display in the cosmos.

Book The Manifold Beauty of Genesis One

Download or read book The Manifold Beauty of Genesis One written by Gregg Davidson and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: See and celebrate the multilayered grandeur conveyed by the first chapter of Genesis The first chapter of the Bible's first book lays the foundation for all that follows about who God is and what God is like. Our technology-age fascination with the science of origins, however, can blind us to issues of great importance that don't address our culturally conditioned questions. Instead, Genesis One itself suggests the questions and answers that are most significant to human faith and flourishing. Geologist Gregg Davidson and theologian Ken Turner shine a spotlight on Genesis One as theologically rich literature first and foremost, exploring the layers of meaning that showcase various aspects of God's character: Song Analogy Polemic Covenant Temple Calendar Land Our very knowledge of God suffers when we fail to appreciate the Bible's ability to convey multilayered truth simultaneously. The Manifold Beauty of Genesis One offers readers the chance to cultivate an openness to Scripture's richness and a deeper faith in the Creator.

Book Creating Life in the Lab

Download or read book Creating Life in the Lab written by Fazale Rana and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each year brings to light new scientific discoveries that have the power to either test our faith or strengthen it--most recently the news that scientists have created artificial life forms in the laboratory. If humans can create life, what does that mean for the creation story found in Scripture? Biochemist and Christian apologist Fazale Rana, for one, isn't worried. In Creating Life in the Lab, he details the fascinating quest for synthetic life and argues convincingly that when scientists succeed in creating life in the lab, they will unwittingly undermine the evolutionary explanation for the origin of life, demonstrating instead that undirected chemical processes cannot produce a living entity.

Book Creation for Progressive Christians

Download or read book Creation for Progressive Christians written by Donald Schmidt and published by Wood Lake Publishing Inc.. This book was released on 2020-06-23 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behind all the creation stories there is a basic assumption that God was involved; the “how” of it was a secondary concern to the original writers. The publication of this study guide is timely given the current conversations and warnings around the health of creation and climate change. One can easily find – online, in magazines, or on television – images of animals that cannot find food; dry areas that used to be lakes and rivers; floods beyond belief; and places such as Tuvalu, where palm trees now grow underwater because the ocean level has risen. Clearly, climate change is real and impacting people around the globe. The question, therefore, is not “Does it exist?” or even “Is this thing human caused or the natural cycle of things?” but rather, “What do we do to slow it down and enhance life for all species?” Although it is not a book about climate change but rather an exploration of five biblical creation stories, this study can help progressive Christians engage these questions. Understanding the biblical creation stories can help us see creation as a delicate balance, and our role in it as stewards. As people of faith, it is incumbent on us to understand our relationship with every facet of the divine, which is clearly present in the world and everything around us. The question behind this book is this: What did our ancient ancestors want us to understand about the creation of the universe, the divine presence in that creation, and how we might live our lives in response to that?

Book Exploring and Proclaiming the Apostles

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foreword by Geoffrey Wainwright Doctrinal preaching has fallen on hard times in recent years. Exploring and Proclaiming the Apostles' Creed seeks to stimulate renewed interest in -- and provide useful models of -- Christian proclamation that is truly rooted in the central tenets of the faith. Using the Apostles' Creed as a template for doctrinal, confessional preaching, this book draws together an ecumenical cast of respected biblical scholars and preachers who explain the creed and demonstrate its preaching possibilities. Each of the book's fifteen chapters consists of an essay that explores and illuminates one of the creed's articles of faith, followed by a scintillating sermon that models how that article can be preached as good news today.
