Book Creating Heaven on Earth

Download or read book Creating Heaven on Earth written by Paul Marcus and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-21 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The art of living the "good life" requires skilful attunement to the lovely presences in everyday life. Lodged in a psychoanalytic sensibility, and drawing from ancient and modern religious and spiritual wisdom, this book provides the details, conceptual structures, and inner meanings of a number of easily accessible, everyday activities, including gardening, sport, drinking coffee, storytelling, and listening to music. It also suggests how to best engage these activities, to consecrate the ordinary in a way that points to experiential transcendence, or what the author calls "glimpsing immortality", a core component of the art of living the "good life".

Download or read book GAPS Stories written by and published by Chelsea Green Publishing. This book was released on 2018-11-29 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride created the term GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome or Gut and Physiology Syndrome) in 2004 to describe the plethora of health problems that stem from an unhealthy gut. Since developing the GAPS nutritional protocol, Dr. McBride has received letters from GAPS sufferers all over the world: stories written by real people who have overcome their real health problems. Every one of these people has learned valuable lessons on their healing journey: lessons they are keen to pass to others who may be struggling through the same difficulties. These stories can be utilized as case studies for how to progress through personal healing and how to deal with problems that one may have to face along the way. There is nothing more valuable than real life experience! Those who have lived through something, fought the battle and won, know what is true and what is false, what works and what doesn't. Many of these stories are humbling--the kinds of horrific problems that people have had to deal with are hard to imagine for the majority of us--yet told with humor and grace!

Book Creation Stories in Dialogue The Bible Science and Folk Traditions

Download or read book Creation Stories in Dialogue The Bible Science and Folk Traditions written by Jan G. van der Watt and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about creation stories in dialogue, not only between different religious views, but also between current day scientific perspectives. International specialists, like Alan Culpepper, David Christian, John Haught, Randall Zachman, Ellen van Wolde from various disciplines are reflecting on the interface between science and religion relating questions of creation and origin. This multi-disciplinary discussion by some of the leading exponents in this field makes the book unique, not only in its depth of discussion, but also in it wide ranging interdisciplinary discussion. The point of departure of all the contributions is the prestige lecture by Alan Culpepper where he argues for bringing Biblical material into discussion with modern scientific insights relating to creation and origin.

Book Heaven s Ambassadors in the Making

Download or read book Heaven s Ambassadors in the Making written by Timothy Wambura and published by AuthorLoyalty. This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The parable of the Prodigal Son speaks of the wayward son coming to his right mind while working among the pigs. Unfortunately, many people don't have a right mind to come to because they have not had Godly people in their lives to teach them what is right. Words like faith, hope, and love often don't have much meaning to people unless someone has provided them with examples. Ambassadors in the Making provides examples of what it means to follow Christ's commandments to serve, trust, and be generous. These examples allow people to reclaim the holy existence God has already given them. This book tells the stories of two ministries on opposite sides of the world that both transformed lives of individuals who were once spiritually lost. The transition houses, orphanages, schools, and hospitals in the ministries are considered Embassies of Heaven, outposts in a foreign land, staffed by Ambassadors for Christ. Readers will be inspired to become Ambassadors who partner with the Holy Spirit to enable the hurting souls around them to become all that they were created to be.

Book I ve Been through Hell Trying to Make It Up to Heaven

Download or read book I ve Been through Hell Trying to Make It Up to Heaven written by Alida Jai Rogers and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-09-19 with total page 703 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How would you like to have your funeral at any place you wanted? Well, in this book, you will see what my uncle did. He was a major coach. What is a major coach? Well, that is where you coach literally everything: basketball, baseball, track, football, martial arts, swimming, golf, and dancing lessons. He tutored adults and children and worked a regular job. Lazy wasn't a word he knew. What better way than to go out the way you lived your life? I personally thought it was very cool. My uncle's funeral was on the track and football field where over three hundred people attended to celebrate and paid their respects. It made my father feel like he was putting on a gospel celebrity concert that he waited for all his life. Lord Jesus help us. If only Erica from Mary Mary would have just given my father a solo at their church. My beautiful great-aunt had us join a procession at the funeral as if it was a wedding. We sat in white chairs on the football field as if we were holding a presidential election. He was just that special. My uncle's only daughter's wedding colors were purple and white. And she wanted to honor him by the family wearing those colors since he would not be here to walk her down the aisle. My father felt like this was his time to shine. He didn't have to shine that much to make us go viral. We were embarrassed. We had just seen Kobe and his daughter buried the day before. I was grateful for the tribute they gave to all nine lives that were lost. Everyone was watching at the airport. We were delayed due to the fog. After watching the funeral, no one complained about the fog again. I flew all the way from St. Louis. I couldn't miss my uncle's funeral. Who would have thought the world would shut down five weeks later? I say God is trying to tell us all something. With me being six months pregnant, and bleeding for five of those six months, I believed it would be a double funeral. God said, "You both shall live," yet the devil was trying to take me out. I believe in my heart that this book will show you that no matter your skin color, we are the same. Even if your faith is paper thin, this book is for you. Religion shouldn't be anyone's cup of tea. Even in the COVID pandemic, Jesus has never left us nor forsaken us. His blood is why we breathe. Now that's love. That should be our cup of tea. Not religion.

Book excerpt: Stages of Conflict brings together an array of dramatic texts, tracing the intersection of theater and social and political life in the Americas over the past five centuries. Historical pieces from the sixteenth century to the present highlight the encounter between indigenous tradition and colonialism, while contributions from modern playwrights such as Virgilio Pinero, Jose Triana, and Denise Stolkos take on the tumultuous political and social upheavals of the past century. The editors have added critical commentary on the origins of each play, affording scholars and students of theater, performance studies, and Latin American studies the opportunity to view the history of a continent through its rich and diverse theatrical traditions.--from publisher's statement.
