Book Third Party Sex Work and Pimps in the Age of Anti trafficking

Download or read book Third Party Sex Work and Pimps in the Age of Anti trafficking written by Amber Horning and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-03 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a compilation of new original qualitative and ethnographic research on pimps and other third party facilitators of commercial sex from the developed and developing world. From African-American pimps in the United States and Eastern European migrants in Germany to Brazilian cafetãos and cafetinas this volume features the lives and voices of the men and women who enable diverse and culturally distinct sex markets around the world. In scholarly, popular, and policy-making discourses, such individuals are typically viewed as larger-than-life hustlers, violent predators, and brutal exploiters. However, there is actually very little empirical research-based knowledge about how pimps and third party facilitators actually live, labor, and make meaning in their everyday lives. Nearly all previous knowledge derives from hearsay and post-hoc reporting from ex-sex-workers, customers, police and government agents, neighbors, and self-aggrandizing fictionalized memoirs. This volume is the first published compilation of empirically researched data and analysis about pimps and third parties working in the sex trade across the globe. Situated in an age of highly punitive and ubiquitous global anti-trafficking law, it challenges highly charged public policy stereotypes that conflate pimping and sex trafficking, in order to understand the lived experience of pimps and the men and women whose work they facilitate.

Book Crazy Little Thing

Download or read book Crazy Little Thing written by Liz Langley and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crazy Little Thing is a look at why we want to be in love and the burbling, boiling soup of endorphins, hormones, and neurotransmitters that spill from our brain to make us do things that would otherwise be viewed as insane. Investigative journalist Liz Langley traveled the country to research and interview singularly love-mad folks who maimed, murdered, and married. Langley reveals the science of love and lust, as well as very human stories: a spouse who can't stop loving her criminally psychotic husband, even after he threw acid in her face; the sweet romance between alligator-skinned sideshow performers; and a man whose neurons drive his necrophilia. Langley reveals the control our chemicals have over us in a hilarious, confounding — and too strange to be anything but true — look at love.

Book excerpt: A mother, answering her phone, hears her daughter shrieking and screaming. Terrified, she calls the police who arrive at the daughter's house, batter down the door--and find the daughter, nude, in her bedroom having sex with her boyfriend. Apparently her toe hit the automatic dial button for her mother's number on the bedroom phone. A man, swimming in a Florida pool, sees the pool intake pipe and gets a unique idea. Hours later, after police, firemen, and EMT personnel are called, the man is taken to an area hospital--along with ten feet of pipe attached to a very swollen part of his anatomy. A newly married couple in Turin set up a video camera in their bedroom to tape all of their honeymoon activities. But somehow certain crucial wires got crossed. While they were enjoying their honeymoon sex, so was everyone else in their apartment building: the couple had accidentally connected their camera to the building's cable television system. In the national bestseller The 776 Stupidest Things Ever Said Ross and Kathryn Petras immortalized idiotic utterances by public figures and average citizens alike. The 176 Stupidest Things Ever Done chronicled fiascoes, senseless stunts, and utterly asinine activities from around the globe. Now, Stupid Sex takes on the subject that no one can resist. It's about people who get caught in the act . . . and about people who get caught in the trash disposal. Stupid Sex tells two hundred true stories of extremely dumb (and very funny) sex acts arranged under headings ranging from Airplane Sex to Zoo Bathroom Sex.

Book LuLu s Anthology

  • Pages : 375 pages

Download or read book LuLu s Anthology written by Arturo Acosta and published by Arturo Acosta . This book was released on 2020-10-08 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the leaves of a taco tree, I give you crumbs of poetry… LuLu’s Anthology is a free verse phenomenon. Simple rhymes about complicated times; complex rhymes that scheme for a way out and words that scream from the depths of my soul. Tales from an outcast’s downtrodden woes; defiant declarations of not wanting to fit in and a search for self-liberation. Narrations of hard working people and evidence of how hard life is being broke. One night stands that lead to wedding rings, little flings with human beings that should have angel wings, and all of the little things that make life so beautiful. Lonely cries of lonesomeness that finally get to be heard and documentations of parties filled with debauchery. Oh, the hypocrisy! These poems are just as human as you and I. Now, imagine if Drake and Taylor Swift had a baby and that child started listening to 2pac and reading Emily Dickinson’s poems; LuLu’s Anthology is that child! These poems are sad lyrics with dope rhymes. Lyrics without music, for you already have the melody and rhythm inside of you. Songs for the head that aren’t meant to be sang out loud, for the world is already loud enough. May these lines bring tranquility to your spirit, and I hope that when you read these lines you see my own spirit and hear it too; my spirit sings of life! Also, and I’m sorry, but if you have a pompous British accent, please try and read this in your best American accent, for this is American poetry; A diary from a first generation immigrant—hear me roar! I’m just a kid from the Southwest trying to do my best. This is my sunset and I have nothing to hide. Pieces of my heart are scattered all throughout these pages, for I’m a lover. Heartbreaks are just part of the occupation and this is first hand documentation. I kiss a lot and say the f word occasionally, but I have not written disdainfully; these are my truths. I’m not sophisticated and these lines are alike, for I don’t write for the pretentious—no, this is for everyday people trying to make it. These poems aren’t for the critics, they are for you.

Book Women Are Crazy Men Are Stupid

Download or read book Women Are Crazy Men Are Stupid written by Howard J Morris and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2009-09-15 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE REVEALiNG, RiP-ROARiNGLY FUNNY GUiDE TO MAKiNG EVERY RELATiONSHiP SMARTER, SANER, AND HAPPiER. Since the dawn of time, when the first smitten caveboy tried to woo the object of his affections by shoving her into the mud, men have demonstrated that when it comes to women, they are profoundly stupid. And when it comes to men, women -- no matter how intelligent or mature -- are completely crazy. Based on this simple yet groundbreaking insight, comedy writers and real-life couple Howard J. Morris and Jenny Lee have devised a relationship guide that is refreshingly honest, completely hilarious, and surprisingly practical. Using their own crazy/stupid romance as an example of these forces in action, they set out to explain why women ask questions that they absolutely do not want answered -- and why men persist in answering them. What are men really thinking -- or crucially, not thinking? Why do women view even the most mundane events through an emotional prism? Why do guys suck at being romantic? And why does every conversation with a woman lead back to whether or not she's fat? Using wit, hard-earned wisdom, and a highly entertaining he said/she said format, the authors explore the surprising method to his dumbness and the valid reasons behind her insanity, while providing real solutions to perennial relationship problems. By teaching men how and why they're stupid around women and showing women how to "control the crazy" for everybody's sake, Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid helps couples to reach the place where giving isn't giving in, needing isn't needy, and where the sexes can break the dysfunctional patterns and find a way to live lovingly, happily ever after.
