Book Cranial Computerized Tomography

Download or read book Cranial Computerized Tomography written by W. Lanksch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only a few years following its original development by the English physicist G.N. HOUNSFIELD, cranial computerized tomography has proved to be of revolutionary importance for the diagnosis of brain disorders. This is reflected not l~ast by the almost immediate and worldwide ac ceptance of this diagnostic method. Meanwhile, computerized tomography has in addition led to a considerably improved diagnosis of lesions within the orbital region. With the technically advanced systems of the second generation that will soon be available, the method can also be applied to the study of pathological processes of the facial region of the skull and the neck as well. Finally, although at present still at the stage of clinical investigation, the whole-body scanning system will enable investigation of all parts of the body. Stimulated by the successful 1st and 2nd Internalional Symposium on Computerized Tomography held in Hamilton, Bermuda, in ~'arch 1975 and in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in April 1976, we organized a meeting on cranial computerized tomography which took place in ~unich, June 10 to 12, 1976. It was the aim of this symposium to provide basic informa tion as well as to exchange the experiences with the new method.

Book Imaging of Head and Neck Cancer

Download or read book Imaging of Head and Neck Cancer written by A. T. Ahuja and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-01-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise integrated handbook looks at all available imaging methods for head and neck cancer, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each method. The information is provided in a clinical context and will guide radiologists as to the information the clinician actually needs when managing a patient with head and neck cancer. It will also provide the clinician with the advantages and limitations of imaging. The text therefore deals with Ultrasound, CT and MRI. The initial chapters aim to give the reader a core knowledge, which can be used in imaging by the various methods described. The subsequent chapters are directed towards clinical problems and deal with the common cancers in a logical order.

Book Vascular Imaging of the Central Nervous System

Download or read book Vascular Imaging of the Central Nervous System written by Joana Ramalho and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-31 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book-length reference to thoroughly describe diagnostic and therapeutic advances in the development of vascular radiology over the last decade The last ten years has seen vascular imaging of the central nervous system (CNS) evolve from fairly crude, invasive procedures to more advanced imaging methods that are safer, faster, and more precise—with computed tomographic (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging methods playing a special role in these advances. Vascular Imaging of the Central Nervous System is the first full-length reference text that shows radiologists—especially neuroradiologists—how to optimize the use of the many techniques available in order to increase the sensitivity and specificity of vascular imaging, thereby improving the diagnosis and treatment of individual patients. Each chapter is formatted carefully and divided into two essential parts: The first part describes the physical principles underlying each imaging technique, along potential associated artifacts and pitfalls; the second part addresses clinical applications and novel applications of each method. With a strong focus on the clinical application of each modality or technique in CNS radiology, this book provides in-depth chapter coverage of: • Ultrasound Vascular Imaging (UVI) • Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) • Magnetic Resonance Vascular imaging (MRV) • Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) • Brain perfusion techniques: CT and MRI • Plaque imaging • Intravascular imaging • Pediatric vascular imaging Along with numerous illustrations and case studies, Vascular Imaging of the Central Nervous System: Physical Principles, Clinical Applications, and Emerging Techniques is an important book for those faced with choosing from the wide range of choices available for clinical practice.

Book Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Tomography of Intracranial Tumors

Download or read book Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Tomography of Intracranial Tumors written by C. Claussen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 910 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents the second, fully revised edition of the original volume published in 1982. Experience in neuroradiology has confirmed the outstanding value of computed tomography (CT) for the diagnosis of space-occupying lesions within the skull and orbit. It might be assumed, then, that the second edition of this book would simply represent a numerically expanded continua tion of the popular first edition. That is not the case, however. Advances in imaging techniques have promp ted the creation of a new book whose expanded title reflects its more comprehen sive nature. The added illustrations, the revised text, and the expanded circle of editors and contributors document this. Since publication of the first edition, a new modality, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has become an established neuroradiologic study. We felt it was essential to include this new modality in our book and explore its capabilities as an adjunct or alternative to CT scanning. Because of the high acquisition costs of MRI and the still small number of MR units currently in operation, we have relied in part on images furnished by other institutions and private practitioners, to whom we are indebted. Many problems relating to MR, both in terms of equipment and image interpretation, have yet to be resolved. There is no denying that we still have much to learn.

Book Diagnostic Imaging for the Emergency Physician E Book

Download or read book Diagnostic Imaging for the Emergency Physician E Book written by Joshua Broder and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2011-06-04 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diagnostic Imaging for the Emergency Physician, written and edited by a practicing emergency physician for emergency physicians, takes a step-by-step approach to the selection and interpretation of commonly ordered diagnostic imaging tests. Dr. Joshua Broder presents validated clinical decision rules, describes time-efficient approaches for the emergency physician to identify critical radiographic findings that impact clinical management and discusses hot topics such as radiation risks, oral and IV contrast in abdominal CT, MRI versus CT for occult hip injury, and more. Diagnostic Imaging for the Emergency Physician has been awarded a 2011 PROSE Award for Excellence for the best new publication in Clinical Medicine. Consult this title on your favorite e-reader, conduct rapid searches, and adjust font sizes for optimal readability. Choose the best test for each indication through clear explanations of the "how" and "why" behind emergency imaging. Interpret head, spine, chest, and abdominal CT images using a detailed and efficient approach to time-sensitive emergency findings. Stay on top of current developments in the field, including evidence-based analysis of tough controversies - such as indications for oral and IV contrast in abdominal CT and MRI versus CT for occult hip injury; high-risk pathology that can be missed by routine diagnostic imaging - including subarachnoid hemorrhage, bowel injury, mesenteric ischemia, and scaphoid fractures; radiation risks of diagnostic imaging - with practical summaries balancing the need for emergency diagnosis against long-terms risks; and more. Optimize diagnosis through evidence-based guidelines that assist you in discussions with radiologists, coverage of the limits of "negative" or "normal" imaging studies for safe discharge, indications for contrast, and validated clinical decision rules that allow reduced use of diagnostic imaging. Clearly recognize findings and anatomy on radiographs for all major diagnostic modalities used in emergency medicine from more than 1000 images. Find information quickly and easily with streamlined content specific to emergency medicine written and edited by an emergency physician and organized by body system.
