Download or read book Crafting Connections The Art of Speech And The Power of Communication written by Khaled Bouajaja and published by Khaled Bouajaja. This book was released on with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication is an essential aspect of human life, and the ability to communicate effectively is a valuable skill that can have a profound impact on our personal and professional lives. The art of speech, in particular, is a complex and multifaceted skill that requires not only a mastery of language but also an understanding of psychology, sociology, and human behavior. At its core, the art of speech is about the ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions in a clear and compelling way. Whether we are giving a presentation to colleagues, engaging in a debate with friends, or having a conversation with a loved one, our ability to communicate effectively can determine the success of our interactions. The art of speech involves a wide range of skills, from crafting a compelling message and using language effectively to using body language, tone of voice, and other nonverbal cues to convey meaning. Effective communication also requires an understanding of the audience and the ability to tailor our message to their needs and interests. Furthermore, the art of speech is not just about conveying information but also about inspiring and motivating our audience to take action. Whether we are trying to persuade someone to see our point of view or encouraging them to take a specific course of action, understanding the principles of motivation and persuasion is a crucial component of effective communication. Ultimately, the art of speech is about more than just words - it is about connecting with others on a deeper level, building trust and rapport, and using our voices to make a positive impact on the world around us.

When the string breaks, Laura’s new stepmother, Jane, is there to comfort Laura and search for a missing button, just as Laura’s mother would have done. But it’s not the same—Jane isn’t Mom. Book Making is Connecting

Download or read book Making is Connecting written by David Gauntlett and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-04-29 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Making is Connecting, David Gauntlett argues that, through making things, people engage with the world and create connections with each other. Both online and offline, we see that people want to make their mark on the world, and to make connections. During the previous century, the production of culture became dominated by professional elite producers. But today, a vast array of people are making and sharing their own ideas, videos and other creative material online, as well as engaging in real-world crafts, art projects and hands-on experiences. Gauntlett argues that we are seeing a shift from a ‘sit-back-and-be-told culture' to a ‘making-and-doing culture'. People are rejecting traditional teaching and television, and making their own learning and entertainment instead. Drawing on evidence from psychology, politics, philosophy and economics, he shows how this shift is necessary and essential for the happiness and survival of modern societies.

Book Crafting Civilian Control of the Military in Venezuela

Download or read book Crafting Civilian Control of the Military in Venezuela written by Harold A. Trinkunas and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2011-01-20 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike most other emerging South American democracies, Venezuela has not succumbed to a successful military coup d'etat during four decades of democratic rule. What drives armed forces to follow the orders of elected leaders? And how do emerging democracies gain that control over their military establishments? Harold Trinkunas answers these questions in an examination of Venezuela's transition to democracy following military rule and its attempts to institutionalize civilian control of the military over the past sixty years, a period that included three regime changes. Trinkunas first focuses on the strategic choices democratizers make about the military and how these affect the internal civil-military balance of power in a new regime. He then analyzes a regime's capacity to institutionalize civilian control, looking specifically at Venezuela's failures and successes in this arena during three periods of intense change: the October revolution (1945-48), the Pact of Punto Fijo period (1958-98), and the Fifth Republic under President Hugo Chavez (1998 to the present). Placing Venezuela in comparative perspective with Argentina, Chile, and Spain, Trinkunas identifies the bureaucratic mechanisms democracies need in order to sustain civilian authority over the armed forces.

Book Crafting Calm

    Book Details:
  • Author : Maggie Shannon
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2013-04-08
  • ISBN : 193674046X
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book Crafting Calm written by Maggie Shannon and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-04-08 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As our world has become increasingly dependent on technology, and our Western societies have become woefully “Crackberried”— to use the title of a recent documentary on the emotional and social pitfalls of our too-wired ways—an intriguing phenomenon is occurring: There is an increasing amount of interest in returning to some of the simpler arts that were neglected or left behind with the onslaught of technology. Artisans and everyday crafters are finding a renewed satisfaction in making something with their own hands; some are even communicating about the inherent physical- and mental-health benefits found in handwork—and, even more than that, they are framing their handwork as meditation or spiritual practice. In today’s sophisticated and pluralistic society, people are more aware than ever that spiritual practice can be defined more expansively—and the popularity of books focusing on alternative spiritual practices demonstrate that readers are hungry for new (or ancient) ways of enhancing their inner lives. In Crafting Calm the author will explore these new forms of creative spiritual practice and the benefits they provide. The format of With Shannon's book will itself be creative, a rich “potpourri approach” that weaves together interviews, historical facts, projects for readers to do themselves, quotations, and suggested resources. Crafting Calm will serve as an inspirational resource guide to a broad assortment of spiritual practices gathered from the global arts-and-crafts communities, as well as from people who don’t consider themselves artists but who have adopted creatively expressive forms of spiritual practice. While there have been a few books published focusing on a particular form of creative spiritual practice (Skylight Paths, for example, has published books on beading as a spiritual practice; painting as a spiritual practice; and using clay as a spiritual practice), no one has yet explored the breadth of possibilities for creative spiritual practices contained in Crafting Calm.
