Book The Great Mystery of the Covenant of Grace

Download or read book The Great Mystery of the Covenant of Grace written by Samuel Petto and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-05 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Owen concludes his excellent Preface with these words: "This worthy author has laboured, if I am not much mistaken, unto good success. And, as his design is to extricate things which seemed perplexed, to give light into the whole doctrine of the covenants, by declaring the proper order and method of things contained in them, with their respect one unto another; that the grace of God, in the Covenant of Grace, may be exalted, and his faithfulness, with his holiness, in the Covenant of Works, both in and by Jesus Christ, the end of the one, and the life of the other. So the reader will find, I hope, that satisfaction in these great and deep enquiries, which he will have occasion to return praise and thanks to God for." Mark Jones concludes his excellent New Introduction with these words: "The rewards are to be reaped from a careful study of this work. I would suggest keeping a Bible and pencil close by since Petto is constantly making reference to the Scriptures without giving the quotation of the passage cited. But more importantly, I would suggest keeping your heart firmly fixed upon the Lord Jesus Christ as he reveals to you, by his Spirit, THE GREAT MYSTERY OF THE COVENANT OF GRACE."

Book The Culmination of God s New Covenant of Grace

Download or read book The Culmination of God s New Covenant of Grace written by Ben R. Cleveland and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-01-15 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book God's New Covenant of Grace was first published in the author's local newspaper in 1986-1987 as a weekly column. There was mixed interest in the column with most of the opposition coming from the professional clergy. Concerned with the negativity of the clergy, he laid the writings aside, but the Holy Spirit would not leave them dormant. When he retired in 2012 as the accountant and auditor for the city of Alexander City, Alabama, he was moved by the Holy Spirit to revive the writings, and after much soul-searching and self-debate, he breathed new life into this book: The Culmination of God's New Covenant of Grace. It is the author's assertion that a deep read and thoughtful study of all the doctrines, precepts, and concepts as presented in The Culmination of God's New Covenant of Grace will prove to be highly beneficial to every Christian or to each seeker of truth. What America and the world need most in this hour of confusion, uncertainty, and growing hostility toward God is clarification and definition of what Almighty God is saying to and asking of America and of the world. Even more important, what is He saying to and asking of the church of grace, the body of Christ in which the spirit of apostasy and open rejection of basic doctrines of biblical morality and of spiritual purity are growing largely unchecked and unchallenged by many pastors and other church authorities who are particularly and primarily charged by the Holy Spirit with the maintenance of these biblical morality and spiritual purity doctrines within God's church? Open your heart as you read and study The Culmination of God's New Covenant of Grace, and you will see and hear renewed and fresh Revelation! Blessed is he or she that responds! God be with you in your quest for relevant truth! Several years of serious scriptural research went into the drafting of the original columns of the 1980s, and this book is basically a recapture of the biblical precepts and concepts as presented in those columns with some updating and clarifications as appropriate.

Book excerpt: The prominence of God's grace in Scripture and what it provides for man and the use of covenants in sealing agreements between individuals are revealed in this book. God's Covenant of Grace reveals that all grace is provided through the benefits of a covenant of grace God made with Himself in Genesis 15. The grace of God provides salvation to the lost, enables the saved to serve, and meets the needs of all who are trusting in Him. But, God does not have a large reservoir filled with grace to draw from to provide what man needs. Neither is grace something He creates as needed. Grace is available to man as a fruit of the covenant the Father made with the Son in the presence of Abraham. The making of a Biblical covenant was much more than a promise or a vow. It was actually a cutting of a covenant that involved the shedding of blood. The ones entering a covenant made a commitment that would last a life time and pledged their lives to the keeping of the covenant. In Genesis 15, Abraham was told to cut up sacrifices suitable for the making of a covenant, but the actual covenant was made between the Father and the Son. It was a covenant of grace that confirmed the promise God made to Abraham in Genesis 12. The book reveals how the nation of Israel repeatedly called on God throughout the Old Testament claiming the benefits of the covenant of grace. When Jesus came to earth, died on the cross, arose from the dead, and ascended back to the Father, He was in fact the Seed of Abraham fulfilling what He had promised when making the covenant of grace with the Father in Genesis 15. All of God's grace is available to all members of Adam's race because of the covenant of grace. Readers of God's Covenant of Grace are continually reminded that, on the occasion of their need and at the time of their request, God's grace will be sufficient for them.

Book excerpt: The Bible speaks about Jesus’s birth, death, resurrection, and ascension as the gospel of salvation, generally occurring between 9 BC to AD 30. As Christians, connecting the dots from Jesus’ death helps us understand the chronological starting point of the dispensation of grace. To know Christ’s life events, we need to follow customs and traditions involving the Jewish culture. In Covenant of Grace, author T. L. Means details the years mentioned, clarifying the final seven years of the Bible, as explained through the Jewish feasts. He answers many question and make arguments based on factual constructive criticism, such as: • What do we know about dates in the Bible? • Are there different calendar systems used to form a chronological order of events? • Is it God’s will for us to know how the final years will begin and end without the repercussion of being judged by God? Truth from the word of God allows us to justify its reality of biblical truth from historical events. There is probable cause in every circumstance of life. The root of it is either grounded in facts of truth or it is left in the challenge of probable truth without circumstantial evidence. Covenant of Grace embarks on scholarly research to find sourced evidence about the cause and effect of life’s truth.

Book God s Covenant and Our Duty

Download or read book God s Covenant and Our Duty written by Samuel Willard and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2015-07-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: his book by Samuel Willard teaches Christians about God's condescension to us by way of His covenant, and in light of that, how we are to live before Him. Willard covers the basics of the Covenant of Redemption, Covenant or Works and Covenant of Grace, to more fully explain and teach the biblical mandate and obligation to perform our duty in God's covenant. Christians cannot just profess that Christ is Lord; their outward actions must demonstrate the reality of the Spirit's work in their daily lives. He covers what it means to "keep covenant" with God, what a covenant breaker is, how covenant mercies are applied to Christians, and how we are to use the covenant promises found in Scripture for our sanctification. In the second half of the work he applies the uses of this teaching to both adults and to the children of believers, and how each of them are obliged to keep covenant before God in specific ways. Also added to this work is a covenant renewal sermon called, "The Necessity of Sincerity in Renewing Our Covenant," which shows that it is not enough to go through the motions before God in living before Him, but to have a right heart in engaging with God through His covenant promises. This is an exemplary work of the highest caliber on Covenant Theology holding such a high practical aspect to the teaching, as well as the foundational biblical truths concerning Christ's work and merit on behalf of His people. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Book Saved By Faithfulness How The Covenant Shapes Our Understanding of Salvation

Download or read book Saved By Faithfulness How The Covenant Shapes Our Understanding of Salvation written by Mark Skillin and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2009-09-21 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evangelical Christianity has long been founded on the theological tradition of "justification by faith alone." This is the heart of the Protestant gospel. But how close is it to the Gospel revealed in Scripture? In Saved by Faithfulness, Mark Skillin highlights the interpretational problems that emerge when one holds to a faith alone paradigm. He talks about the importance of the concept of covenant in Scripture, and demonstrates through a survey of the biblical covenants that God has always placed faith and obedience in very close relationship to each other as necessary for the salvation of His people. Saved by Faithfulness challenges centuries of Scriptural interpretation and consequent church practice which have enshrined a distorted gospel, with far reaching consequences for the church. It is a call to return to faithful biblical interpretation and faithful Christian lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled....' Matthew 5:17 Did you know that God promised His new covenant to the House of Israel? Does this exclude Gentile Christians? Who are His people Israel? Is the new covenant a new set of laws to replace the old? You may or may not know that the new covenant is not based on laws or documents but on a person. The new covenant is about relationships—a new relationship to justice, to God's law, and even to God Himself. It is expressed in the life and words of Jesus Christ. But how are we to interpret His life and words? What is the freedom found in the new covenant relationship? Is it freedom to live any way we want? Are there commands given in the new covenant that are specific to that covenant? Christians often stumble when it comes to understanding the work of God's grace from the Old Testament through the New. But an understanding of the covenant God made through the person of Jesus Christ is vital to knowing how to walk in the Spirit every day. Brown reveals the new covenant in a way that is scholarly but accessible, seasoned with salt as well as grace. The Covenant of Freedom illuminates the covenant narrative from Genesis to Revelation and what lies at the heart of Christianity, the promise of God.
