She vowed she'd never return to Faerie...but vows were made to be broken. As a human girl, Chloe is perfectly happy being back in the mortal realm where she belongs. She's even become the town apothecary. When a fae from her past shows up begging her to return to Faerie, she utterly refuses. But then she finds out an angry group of mortals are using iron to hold an entire castle full of fae hostage. And of course, the hostages include Chloe's older sister and her sister's beloved. Reluctantly, Chloe packs a bag for what is supposed to be a short trip to Faerie. But the mortals are more powerful than she expected. They have weapons, flames, and revenge to fuel them. They won't stop until they control every court in Faerie. With the help of a new and mysterious magic and a devastatingly handsome fae companion, Chloe has to save Faerie before her sister and the other fae are killed. Flame and Crystal Thorns is the first book in a new YA fae fantasy series. This is a spin off of The Fae of Bitter Thorn series by Kay L. Moody. It features a few appearances and minor spoilers from The Fae of Bitter Thorn, but it also stands alone as its own series. It can be read without any prior knowledge or reading of The Fae of Bitter Thorn.

This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Ninevah Court in the Crystal Palace This entire disappearance of Nineveh, whilst the other great capitals of the ancient world had left some visible traces of their principal monuments, by which their site could be determined, is chiefly to be attributed to the materials of which it was constructed. The Assyrians did not, like the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, build their palaces and temples either of granite, precious marbles, or durable stone, but even their public edifices, as well as their humblest habitations, were of bricks made of clay mixed with chopmd straw, and merely dried in the sun. Without the chopped straw the clay would not have been bound together, or have had sufficient consistency for use hence the meaning of the passage in the book of Exodus (chap. V. Which describes the hardships of the Jews when the Egyptians refused to supply them with straw to make their bricks. Other materials, such as marble, alabaster, stone, and kiln-burnt bricks, generally painted or glazed, were used by the Assyrians in their principal edifices, but to a com putatively limited extent, and only by way of ornament. Hence, when the buildings were once deserted, the upper walls and stories soon fell in and buried the lower. The bricks of clay became earth again, and the ruins would assume the appearance of more natural heaps and mounds rising in the plain, upon which the grass grew and corn might be sown. And such have been the ruins of Nineveh for more than two thousand years. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Alhambra

    Book Details:
  • Author : Antonio Fernández Puertas
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 1997
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 538 pages

Download or read book The Alhambra written by Antonio Fernández Puertas and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on many years of painstaking research and covering eleven centuries of medieval, modern and contemporary history, The Alhambra represents a major contribution to world scholarship. During his research for the book, the author has made some very exciting discoveries. He has, for example, resolved one of the great enigmas of Nasrid art by discovering the geometric proportional system on which the entire Alhambra architecture and decoration are based. The designs are at times so intricate that they baffle even professional mathematicians: Professor Fernaacute;ndez-Puertas has cracked the geometric code and discovered that the marvels of the Alhambra are built on a proportional system that is essentially incommensurable and not based on fixed units like metres or inches. This has involved making hundreds of analytical figures, many of which will be included in the book. Professor Fernaacute;ndez-Puertas is also the first to discover the chronological order in which the Alhambra palaces were built. He has collated much fragmentary information in order to reconstruct a picture of court life within the Alhambra and the personalities of its sultans and poet-viziers. The book thus contains the heart of three centuries of Nasrid art, as well as providing a history of the palatine city from the ninth century to the present day: the pre-Nasrid Alhambra, the Nasrid Alhambra and the Christian Alhambra. Based on many years of painstaking research and covering eleven centuries of medieval, modern and contemporary history, The Alhambra will be the most comprehensive scientific work yet issued on the subject--a work of this order is unlikely to be published again within our lifetime.
