Notwithstanding record growth in the past decade and significant poverty reduction, large social priority and investment spending needs remain, while comparatively weak domestic revenue mobilization poses significant financing constraints. Against this backdrop, the authorities have requested Fund support of 400 percent of quota (SDR 2,601.6 million) for an economic program aimed at meeting pressing financing needs, preserving macroeconomic stability, and anchoring the National Development Plan (NDP) in key structural reforms to support Côte d’Ivoire’s transformation towards upper-middle income status.

This is the first review of the Eritrea Country Programme and covers the Country Programming Framework (CPF) period from 2017 to 2021.The review assessed FAO’s strategic positioning in Eritrea, the programme results and provided strategic recommendations on how FAO can better realign its programme to evolving needs. The review found that while the Ministry of Agriculture and the Minitry of Marine Resources fully participated in the formulation of the CPF, the Ministry of Land, Water and the Environment’s participation was limited. Overall, the results are unequal across the three priority areas of the CPF. The review makes thirteen recommendations. This includes FAO enhancing its cooperation with the Ministry of Marine Resources and the Ministry of Land, Water and the Environment. More specifically, both ministries should also be involved in the preparation of the next CPF.

The GF-TADs is a coordination mechanism established to safeguard its Members from repeated incursions of infectious animal disease epidemics, to enhance safe trade in animals and animal products, and to improve food and nutrition security by reducing the damaging effects of TADs. To reach these long-term goals, the GF-TADs Strategy for 2021?2025 aims to enhance the control of TADs through the establishment of priority TADs strategies at the regional and sub-regional level, by developing the capacity to prevent and control TADs, and by improving the sustainability of priority TADs strategies through multi-disciplinary partnerships. The ultimate goals of the global strategy are to improve food security and nutrition, to reduce poverty and to enhance safe trade in livestock and animal products by reducing repeated incursions and the further spread of infectious disease epidemics. The GF-TADs Strategy was developed through a ‘Theory of Change’ model and is described as a series of objectives. Chapters describe the management of the GF-TADs Strategy, resource mobilization and a framework for monitoring and evaluation, with clear indicators. In addition, the strategy provides an overview of the GF-TADs governance model and its global priority diseases.
