Book A King of Fierce Countenance the Truth about Islam and Bible Prophecy

Download or read book A King of Fierce Countenance the Truth about Islam and Bible Prophecy written by Ph. D. Glenn Goodwin and published by . This book was released on 2014-07-18 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the bible have to do with islam? The Prophet Daniel was told, ..".when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people" (Daniel 8:23-24 KJV). Is it possible that a radical terrorist leader, riding the wind of extreme religious fervor, would be this king of fierce countenance and stir up the storm of Armageddon? Will there ever be peace in the Middle East? Are there radical elements within the Islamic people who figure into Christian prophecies of end-time events? It is hard to conceive of an Israel-centered Battle of Armageddon without including radical Muslim forces in the scenario. But what does the Bible say, and are these days upon us? Is it possible that so great a religion, so moved with passion against Judaism and Christianity, so outspoken on the issue of peace in the Middle East, so dominant in the lands of the Bible, could have arisen without the prophecies of the Bible even taking note of it? This book answers those questions-biblically and historically. This is a book for Christians; it is not against Islam or any other religion. It certainly isn't intended as an attack on any ideology, nor is it designed to insult anyone's faith. Rather, it is a statement of Christian faith. It attempts to explain the Islamic religion as it relates to the Christian Bible. But it does proceed from the presupposition that the Bible is true, and that Christianity is the way to eternal life. It is not designed to be mere hateful ranting against Islam, so much as it is meekly relating what the Bible says. True Christianity has no room for hate, bigotry, or prejudice. But our Bible does have a message for Christians and tells us about the role of extremist followers of radical Islam in future events and how we should prepare for events to come. Dr. Glenn Goodwin is the pastor of the Gospel Assembly Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Formerly a trial attorney, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree with honors from Drake University in Des Moines and his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Theology from the International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida. He is blessed with a wonderful family, including his wife, three married children, and five granddaughters.

Book Vagueness and Degrees of Truth

Download or read book Vagueness and Degrees of Truth written by Nicholas J. J. Smith and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2008-11-06 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Vagueness and Degrees of Truth, Nicholas Smith develops a new theory of vagueness: fuzzy plurivaluationism. A predicate is said to be vague if there is no sharply defined boundary between the things to which it applies and the things to which it does not apply. For example, 'heavy' is vague in a way that 'weighs over 20 kilograms' is not. A great many predicates - both in everyday talk, and in a wide array of theoretical vocabularies, from law to psychology to engineering - are vague. Smith argues, on the basis of a detailed account of the defining features of vagueness, that an accurate theory of vagueness must involve the idea that truth comes in degrees. The core idea of degrees of truth is that while some sentences are true and some are false, others possess intermediate truth values: they are truer than the false sentences, but not as true as the true ones. Degree-theoretic treatments of vagueness have been proposed in the past, but all have encountered significant objections. In light of these, Smith develops a new type of degree theory. Its innovations include a definition of logical consequence that allows the derivation of a classical consequence relation from the degree-theoretic semantics, a unified account of degrees of truth and subjective probabilities, and the incorporation of semantic indeterminacy - the view that vague statements need not have unique meanings - into the degree-theoretic framework. As well as being essential reading for those working on vagueness, Smith's book provides an excellent entry-point for newcomers to the era - both from elsewhere in philosophy, and from computer science, logic and engineering. It contains a thorough introduction to existing theories of vagueness and to the requisite logical background.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A much neglected field of study has been opened by the research of the author into the history of the Christian church from its apostolic origins to the close of the eighteenth century. Taking as his thesis the prominence given to the Church in the Wilderness in Bible prophecy, and the fact that “‘the Church in the Wilderness,’ and not the proud hierarchy enthroned in the world’s great capital, was the true church of Christ,” he has spent years developing this subject. In its present form, Truth Triumphant represents much arduous research in the libraries of Europe as well as in America. Excellent ancient sources are most difficult to obtain, but the author has been successful in gaining access to many of them. To crystallize the subject matter and make the historical facts live in modem times, the author also made extensive travels throughout Europe and Asia. The doctrines of the primitive Christian church spread to Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. As grains of a mustard seed they lodged in the hearts of many Godly souls in southern France and northern Italy — people known as the Albigenses and the Waldenses. The faith of Jesus was valiantly upheld by the Church of the East. This term, as used by the author, not only includes the Syrian and Assyrian Churches, but is also the term applied to the development of apostolic Christianity throughout the lands of the East. The spirit of Christ, burning in the hearts of loyal men who would not compromise with paganism, sent them forth as missionaries to lands afar. Patrick, Columbanus, Marcos, and a host of others were missionaries to distant lands. They braved the ignorance of the barbarian, the intolerance of the apostate church leaders, and the persecution of the state in order that they might win souls to God. To unfold the dangers that were ever present in the conflict of the true church against error, to reveal the sinister working of evil and the divine strength by which men of God made truth triumphant, to challenge the Remnant Church today in its final controversy against the powers of evil, and to show the holy, unchanging message of the Bible as it has been preserved for t hose who will “fear God, and keep His commandments” — these are the sincere aims of the author as he presents this book to those who know the truth. MERLIN L. NEFF.

Book Countenance

    Book Details:
  • Author : Matthew Lee
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2024-03-16
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 205 pages

Download or read book Countenance written by Matthew Lee and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-03-16 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Countenance is facial expression. This is, at least, what I write in the book, and what I write in the book I hope to be true. What I write in the book is just a collection of thoughts that I have taken the time to notice, and what I have noticed is that my thoughts, as with all thoughts, are more or less treasured. They are things that make me laugh, things that create feelings of nostalgia, and things that, if I am lucky enough, find a way to move me to tears. If I am lucky enough, they reveal to me something about this brilliant life that I live and, if I am even luckier, something about this brilliant life's Creator. This is what makes thoughts treasured. This is what makes them sacred, and as they find ways to change my countenance, I ought to take the time to notice. I ought to take the time to consider. Noticing and considering could make all the difference in how I end up seeing this life. I could end up experiencing a whole new countenance. Or if I am again lucky, I could end up experiencing a countenance that is lifted higher above the rest.

Book The Countenance of the Father

Download or read book The Countenance of the Father written by Adrienne Von Speyr and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2012-02-28 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A twentieth-century mystic's meditative reflection on the role of God the Father in eternity and in time. The book brings the reader a greater awareness of the First Person of the Trinity in eternity, and the interaction of the Three Persons. Then the reader is helped to consider the role of the Father in creation and throughout salvation history. Finally we are led to contemplate the Eternal Life toward which the Father's love is drawing us. A very approachable and beautiful work, Adrienne closes her prayerful and meditative exploration with: ""Thus, by virtue of the Son's sacrifice and his having brought the world home again, the Father is able to regard men as his eternal creatures. Eternal life is not situated in heaven, far from man's grasp, something self-enclosed; it is the life-filled Word, in which men have a share because they are capable of taking it in. And that capability is itself grace.""
