Book excerpt: The twelfth-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes is a major figure in European literature. His courtly romances fathered the Arthurian tradition and influenced countless other poets in England as well as on the continent. Yet because of the difficulty of capturing his swift-moving style in translation, English-speaking audiences are largely unfamiliar with the pleasures of reading his poems. Now, for the first time, an experienced translator of medieval verse who is himself a poet provides a translation of Chrétien’s major poem, Yvain, in verse that fully and satisfyingly captures the movement, the sense, and the spirit of the Old French original. Yvain is a courtly romance with a moral tenor; it is ironic and sometimes bawdy; the poetry is crisp and vivid. In addition, the psychological and the socio-historical perceptions of the poem are of profound literary and historical importance, for it evokes the emotions and the values of a flourishing, vibrant medieval past.

Book The Man who Took Trips

Download or read book The Man who Took Trips written by Roy Ald and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "When the author began the research for this book he was not prepared to believe Paul. He thought of his subject as an entertaining and brilliant kook. But as Paul reveals his strange and exotic story, the author realizes that he has met an extraordinary man, that the X-ian world Paul swears he was a part of has taken on the dimension of true reality. Paul's affair with the beautiful X-ian creature, Alotha, is a deeply moving one that develops into a relationship of incomparabile tenderness. Paul's other-worldly experiences are cataclysmic; he manages to keep his sanity through psychological tremors that would have sunk any other man. However, much more is at stake here than a trip into outer space. In many ways Paul's highly readable, fantastic adventure story is a philosophical document that confronts some of the key dilemmas of our time. As we look at the advanced civilization of the X-ians, we learn the truth about our human nature; we see man as an animal that builds civilizations and destroys them, and we are fnally given a special insight into the current lamentable 'human condition.'"--dust jacket.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What has happened to George Adamski since he wrote the famous incidents in Flying Saucers Have Landed? Since the memorable November 20, 1952, when he first made personal contact with a man from another world? Since December 13, 1952 when he was able to make photographs within 100 feet of the same saucer that had brought his original visitor? Inside The Space Ships is Adamski’s own story of what has happened to him since then. It begins with his first meeting, a few months later, with a second man from another world—his first meeting with one who speaks to him. This second visitor brings him to a Venusian Scout (flying saucer) and this, in turn, brings him to a mother ship. Later lie is conveyed in both a Saturnian Scout and a Saturnian mother ship. Adamski tells us what transpires in these space craft and what the men and women from other worlds have told him. Adamski’s photographs of flying saucers, originally published in Flying Saucers Have Landed, have since become world-famous as other witnesses in other parts of the world have succeeded in taking photographs identical with his. Now, however, in Inside The Space Ships, Adamski gives us 16 photographs and illustrations, no longer of Scouts (flying saucers) mostly, but of the great space ships from which they are launched. The main group of these photographs was taken in April, 1955, and neither the photographs nor a description of them has ever been published before.

Book excerpt: Virgil Armstrong is an internationally known lecturer, author & teacher; lecturing on subjects such as: Indians, Nature Spirits & UFOs. Virgil is also the author of CITIZENS ALERT & THE ARMSTRONG REPORT: THEY NEED US, WE DON'T NEED THEM. Once again Virgil has stripped away the facade & placed before the minds of men yet another long-denied truth: that in the eyes of God, men & women are EQUAL! THE TWELVE WOMEN APOSTLES is a testimony of this irrevocable truth. It finds the Great Master Jesus surrounded by these twelve staunch women as well as his twelve men apostles. Throughout the book are spiritual lessons that are not only illuminating but help one to better understand Jesus's frequent use of parables. Although Book I ends with the heavenly ordainment of the womanly twelve, its sequel will pick them up after the completion of their apostolic training when they set forth into the world to practice their ministry two, by two, just as their predecessor, the twelve men, did. Shocking! revealing! intriguing! Don't put it down, because this book is for YOU & ALL WOMANKIND.
