This book was released on 2000-06-08 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Standardized processing routes for PM fabrication Powder Metallurgy in Design: Wear, Corrosion and Fatigue Resistance is an essential resource for anyone in the field. Powder metallurgy allows engineers to control the microstructure of the metal, resulting in materials more suitable for the fabrication of unique parts with unique properties — yet the process of formulating these metals is itself unique. This book standardizes and codifies the necessary processing routes, and helps engineers incorporate the potential of these products into the design stage of a project.

Book U S Industry in 2000

Download or read book U S Industry in 2000 written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-06-11 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: U.S. industry faced a gloomy outlook in the late 1980s. Then, industrial performance improved dramatically through the 1990s and appears pervasively brighter today. A look at any group of industries, however, reveals important differences in the factors behind the resurgenceâ€"in industry structure and strategy, research performance, and location of activitiesâ€"as well as similarities in the national policy environment, impact of information technology, and other factors. U.S. Industry in 2000 examines eleven key manufacturing and service industries and explores how they arrived at the present and what they face in the future. It assesses changing practices in research and innovation, technology adoption, and international operations. Industry analyses shed light on how science and technology are applied in the marketplace, how workers fare as jobs require greater knowledge, and how U.S. firms responded to their chief competitors in Europe and Asia. The book will be important to a wide range of readers with a stake in U.S. industrial performance: corporate executives, investors, labor representatives, faculty and students in business and economics, and public policymakers.

Book Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Processes

Download or read book Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Processes written by Amir Khoei and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-07 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The powder forming process is an extremely effective method of manufacturing structural metal components with high-dimensional accuracy on a mass production basis. The process is applicable to nearly all industry sectors. It offers competitive engineering solutions in terms of technical performance and manufacturing costs. For these reasons, powder metallurgy is developing faster than other metal forming technology. Computational Plasticity in Powder Forming Proceses takes a specific look at the application of computer-aided engineering in modern powder forming technologies, with particular attention given to the Finite Element Method (FEM). FEM analysis provides detailed information on conditions within the processed material, which is often more complete than can be obtained even from elaborate physical experiments, and the numerical simulation makes it possible to examine a range of designs, or operating conditions economically. * Describes the mechanical behavior of powder materials using classical and modern constitutive theories.* Devoted to the application of adaptive FEM strategy in the analysis of powder forming processes.* 2D and 3D numerical modeling of powder forming processes are presented, using advanced plasticity models.

Book Designing Small Weapons

Download or read book Designing Small Weapons written by Jose Martin Herrera-Ramirez and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-06-10 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on developing small weapons, following the lifecycle of a firearm from design to manufacture. It demonstrates how modern technologies can be used at every stage of the process, such as design methodologies, CAD/CAE/CAM software, rapid prototyping, test benches, materials, heat and surface treatments, and manufacturing processes. Several case studies are presented to provide detailed considerations on developing specific topics. Small weapons are designed to be carried by one person; examples are pistols, revolvers, rifles, carbines, shotguns, and submachine guns. Beginning with a review of the history of weapons from ancient to modern times, this book builds on this by mapping out recent innovations and state-of-the-art technologies that have advanced small weapon design. Presenting a comprehensive guide to computer design tools used by weapon engineers, this book demonstrates the capabilities of modern software at all stages of the process, looking at the computer-aided design, engineering, and manufacturing. It also details the materials used to create small weapons, notably steels, engineering polymers, composites, and emerging materials. Manufacturing processes, both conventional and unconventional, are discussed, for example, casting, powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, and heat and surface treatments. This book is essential reading to those in the field of weapons, such as designers, workers in research and development, engineering and design students, students at military colleges, sportsmen, hunters, and those interested in firearms. Dr. Jose Martin Herrera-Ramirez is a military engineer with experience in the field of weapon and ammunition development. After receiving his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Paris School of Mines in France, he was the head of the Applied Research Center and Technology Development for the Mexican Military Industry (CIADTIM). He now researches the development of metallic alloys and composites at the Research Center for Advanced Materials (CIMAV) in Chihuahua, Mexico.
